    Great style and breakdown Noel on the frontside roundhouse cutback. So keen to put this into practice in the surf and on the surfskate.

    Thanks for the tips!! The down and through concept helped me heaps. Have been doing up and out for years and never understood what I did wrong until now.

    Could you do a video about getting barrelled? Especially different ways of setting up for the tube.

    Great video Noel! You mention at 2:51 that the weight should be 60% back foot, 40% front - should it stay that way throughout the rest of the cutback, or does it change? Thanks

      In episode we talk about the weight transfer to front foot to increase speed. Check out Episode 2

    Hey Noel! I’m curious how do you make the decision to make a full 180 turn when you can’t see how fast the wave is breaking behind you? How do you know you won’t get the wave crashing down on you?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  3 роки тому +10

      Great question.... I commit to the cutback after I figure how far you are away from the power source I want to be then start my figure eight round house cutback. It takes time and practice to get it dialed. However it's easier to adjust when your in the midst of doing the roundhouse cutback if you have speed to burn. Compressing down and through to gain speed so you can adjust as needed.

      By what the wave looks like in front of you. Look at first person go pro footage. As soon as the wave starts looking flatter, you have to cutback or you ride off the wave.

    So you wanna stay compressed throughout the first turn of the roundhouse to conserve speed whereas a regular cutback/carve, you uncoil as you do your turn to release more power?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  3 роки тому +2

      A regular cutback you still want to initiate your cutback at the top of the wave and compress down through to gain speed but a normal cutback and frontside wrap does not consist of the figure 8 pattern where you snap the lip or white wash in the rebound.

    do u have any tips on how to turn faster but still be stable cause when i try and turn faster i lean too much and lose my balance

    • @surfnshowreviews7777

      Maybe it’s the board size, or design you are riding. What board do you have? What are the Dims and volume? How much do you weigh and what is your skill level?

    Hey Noel I notice when your cutting back your back knee looks as though it internally rotates 45 degrees forward and your hips as opposed to having your back foot and knee square at 90 degrees.
    Do you recommend and do this surfing or do you try more to keep that back leg facing more square and drive through the heel?? Cheers

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  3 роки тому

      My back leg does this naturally… I prefer it this way compared my back leg being more square. I find that my back leg bending in creates more drive as it helps me to shift my weight forward and less stress on my back and hips as it helps me get lower too. Some surfers back leg does not bend that way… their back leg stays more square and it hurts their knee to bend in like mine.
