David, Thank you for this video. I feel comfortable buying the MLM 2 pro now. Mobility is a game changer for me. Numbers are good enough. People complain about buying balls but you won't want to hit beat up balls into your screen anyway. Love the Rapsodo content
I'll definitely change my R10 for this mlm2pro When Gspro connection is available. This device is insane at shot shape and spins and thats what I'm looking for in order to build a golf sim. Distance and chipping issues will be improved in the time for sure
You do great job my friend. I am new to golf and I learn a lot from your videos. I had the Garmin R10 but I returned it when the MLM2 Pro came out. I am very happy with it. Your videos help me a bunch, keep up the good work!
I'd say one of the benefits of using a rear placement units such as MEVO+, trackman, MLM 2 Pro is that if you have friends over and are playing in groups, if there is a lefty you don't have to move the unit. Whereas with the skytrack you would have to move the unit to the other side. Same if you have multiple users in the household that are of different dexterity. That said, I am a big fan of the MLM 2 Pro. That is a lot of features for a device that is sub-700$ US.
another great video. Have you looked into changing your garage opener to a jackshaft version off to the side of the door? I just did this in my garage and it gave me a lot more room to swing. Not too expensive of an investment at all.
Ballspeed is about 2yards for every mph and slightly lower spin with Skytrak accounts for most of diff in carry. Can always factor in with rapsodo that might be 4/5 yards light and then you very close
It would be interesting to see what the outcome was for the 7 iron and 6 iron shots if both units were feeding into the same algorithm (Awesome Golf, GS Pro, etc.) Great video!
Could you do a video where you squeeze the space in front (to screen) and behind the ball on the MLM2 before it looses it’s accuracy? I have some space constraints and I want to see if you can get away with less than the manufactures recommendations. Thank you
David, not all of us have your club speed :( when testing the MLM2Pro could you also hit some of the shots at 3/4 or 1/2 your normal speed, just for us mortals.
The 24/7 bays would be just that much better if the screens didn't have creases through them and were flush, it can be achieved without having big bounce back and would help with the projected image. Great videos BTW David, watched you for a while but thought probably time I subscribed🙂
I'd say the only thing missing that'd be great to see here is diving into the other numbers to see discrepancies between the units. Like at 6:14, it's almost identical Spin and Ball speed, but showing a 6 meter difference in carry. It's gotta be a launch angle or some other data point that the two device are reading differently on some of those iron shots. Would love to see more of those numbers. It could be easy to think as a beginner, who's not gonna flush it every time like you, that I could get some pretty inconsistent data from the MLM2 Pro because of my inconsistent striking when learning and improving my game.
I think that for the most part the data was very close to each other. The different algorithms can just measure the shots slightly differently. The averages after all the shots are said and done would no doubt be similar
Again David , thanks for your videos it must take lots of your time up! As I said earlier I've bought a sky track now , I will sell my Garmin ( sorry 😂) as I'm working on hitting more in to out and the Garmin isn't good enough for shop shape imho (for myself has a high handicapper) I'll keep an eye on the mlm2 and Garmin still! As I'm hoping the mlm2 will get some more features! And maybe the Garmin r10 could get some spin axis (I wish!)
Great video David. Very similar numbers between the two bodes well for the MLM2. Both would serve well indoors it seems. The carry differences might just be software related as the ball speeds and spin numbers were similar (didn't get to see launch so that could be it). Now it's a matter of deciding between 3000 plus 100 per year and 1000 plus 200 per year or thereabouts. Plus u do get a bit more with skytrak (space, software integrations, ball choices). There is also the issue of putting and chipping which I would think skytrak will be more adept at as MLM has no putting and I assume short chips will be an issue.
Dave, can you make a video about your swing? I am amazed by the power that you can generate with such a short backswing. I have been working with my swing coach to shorten by backswing. So far, not much success. Just curious what is your swing thought if any on your backswing.
Great review.. Would like to see the MLM2 Pro vs the Ernest Sports B 1 for indoor and out door results..Both simular price and work from behind the golfer...Thanks....
Love the content. Spewing I got a mlm2pro on Friday arvo but I can't get it to power up. Charging light shows, and then the light goes off, but the power button does nothing 😭
Skytrack looks nice. Looks like the rapsodo tracks ball flight excellent. For the price difference rapsodo wins out here. I guess if you have no space behind you the skytrack could fit the bill. Can't wait for the next video. Maybe you could put out 2 videos a day for us that can't wait 24hrs....please.
I own both, love both. However, If money was no object, I would stay with Skytrak. Graphics are superior which matters to me, especially when using as an indoor golf sim. If GSPro becomes available, it might change my mind since the delay is a little less with MLM. The real question is, will the NEW Skytrak disrupt the industry once again? Great video Dave!
I'm really eager to see the SC4, but I'm concerned it doesn't do spin axis - haven't seen that metric anywhere on their website. I have an older SC300 and it worked great for me.
David great video as usual, I still like to see the Rapsodo track face to path and club head path like the R10. Those numbers are pretty valuable when your trying to diagnose your swing. Do we have any idea if Rapsodo going to come out with those metrics? Also is the R10 really accurate with those numbers?
I have a SkyTrak with MLM2PRO on order. Is it me or does the SkyTrak range look much better with the multiple camera angles and graphics? Your opinion? Thanks, love the channel.
I think that in terms of a permanent unit that’s the skytrak is better for numbers but the MLM2PRO offers a lot that skytrak doesn’t such as impact vision
thank you!! I’m a new golfer and slice and deflect slice a good amount of shots.. is the Skytrak OG going to accurately show that? I want to make sure it’s going to be showing this accurate so I know as I improve
Awesome video as usual, keep it up man! The Rapsodo looks like a really great device, still not sold on the yearly fee yet just to get spin numbers though. Any thoughts on the difference between Garmin and Rapsodo considering to get spin numbers you do have to pay a fee and is it worth it over the Garmin? I am really curious to see what Garmin comes up with to compete against the Rapsodo and if it will be this year or next year before it comes out. Appreciate all the hard work and effort you have put into these videos!
Not really to be honest, it’s a nice to have that’s for sure but in the end the ball is the ultimate coach and that will tell you whether you’ve hit a bad shot or not and your body will naturally adjust with the swing
Nice to see the Skytrak getting some attention. For the price I have never been a Skytrak fan as is also the case with the Mevo+. Not that they aren't both great units, but its just the price point! Anyone who can afford 3 or 4k for a launch monitor can probably afford to buy a GC3 so why not just do that and be done with it? If budget is an issue then its the Garmin R10 or Rapsodo hands down! The most important issue for me between the units was shot shape and spin accuracy and it looks like both are close to 100% with that. The Rapsodo will only get better with future firmware updates whereas the Skytrak is already at its limits and has no potential to measure club data while I think the Rapsodo does and probably will sometime in the near future. The 3rd party apps that now make the Garmin work with GS Pro and also enable pretty decent putting using a webcam (that blew me away) will no doubt become available for the Rapsodo sometime soon as well so I would go for the Rapsodo but not until these are available.
Is putting a worth wild consideration when choosing a device? Also, if a net is 10' away from the ball (MLM2 Pro) would you be concerned with hitting a 50 degree wedge (the SkyTrak could be 5' closer)? The MLM2 Pro gives you five E6 courses, has an integrated camera (a plus), has a $200/year subscription (US) but requires $70 balls (US). The SkyTrak can use any ball, doesn't have an integrated camera, has a $250/year subscription but offers putting. I shoot in the high 80s and I'm torn between the two devices.
Well to ease the stress a bit, you can’t make a bad choice. If you get the mlm2pro you’ll have a fantastic unit. Same with skytrak. The mlm2pro is much newer in its technology and better if you want to use it on the range or outdoors. Then the Skytrak is better indoors and you can use any ball without spending a fortune. Both can also integrate with GSPro as well
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. Personally, I have no need to bring a device to the range. I can see what my ball is doing at the range. At home, I can hit endless balls whenever I want while being out of the sun. Both devices are great. The video capture on the MLM2 Pro is awesome... although I don't know that I'd focus on that too much. With the SkyTrak, fact that I can use (any test) any ball that I want, have less space restrictions, isn't effected by fans and that I can use it to putt with is making me lean towards the SkyTrak. Also, with the SkyTrak, I can see all the data without paying for a subscription. If I'm going to pay a company $200/year for my data, I think I'll just pay $250/year and get an extra 27 high resolution courses. If Rapsodo didn't force me to pay $200/year for my data, I'd probably buy both. Who knows, maybe Garmin will come out with a new device that has a camera like the Rapsodo? @@davidmaxfieldgolf
No worries at all. The Skytrak & Skytrak+ are my favourite units. I'm not sure about the Garmin, they tend to do things every 2-4 years so I wouldn't expect anything before next years PGA show@@jamesinfl3539
for the price... the MLM2 seems like a great buy... I'll keep saying it though, until it has PC connectivitiy so someone can create an API to connect it to GS Pro, it will be lacking in the home simulation side of things (GS Pro is king, it's that simple). But, if you don't care about that and only want to hit range balls and have a little bit of simulation in it's basic form, its looks like a great cheap option.
Great video...I currently own a Skytrak but in order to do a decent sim on a course I'd need a gaming laptop and then I'd need to subscribe to a third party vendor like GSPRO which is an added expense. I have a deposit down on an MLM2PRO currently and was wondering if you had an opportunity to use the built in course sim on the Rapsodo? I like that it's an all in one unit that can run on my iPad. Your thoughts?
Wow Dave, it's impressive that you were able to call your shots and have both simulators accurately display the shot shape with the tracers. I'm curious about the simulators' ability to detect poor shots such as topping, bad hook, big slice, or shank. Would it be possible for you to intentionally hit some of these poor shots to test whether the simulators can accurately pick them up?
It does feel a little like users are the "beta" testers of the first batches of shipments of the MLM2Pro. Seems like something to be purchased a year from now to get a MLM2Pro with more realized potential
It almost looked like the more you started the ball on line the better the carry distance was from the mlm2 pro, so maybe when you push or pull it’s not quite as accurate
David. How are the balls with the rhapsodo that you have to buy for it? Would you be able to put your own black dots on your own balls you like in these same positions on ball and get the number when you hit?
There may be a difference to the skytrak and r10, but they have been shown to be different to the GC and TrackMan. Haven’t comparisons between the MLM2PRO and the GC and TrackMan shown to be very similar? Therefore should the MLM2PRO not be the more trusted unit over the skytack and esp the R10 ?
Just received this unit last week and it has MAJOR issues. Took an hour to get this thing to connect. First session the app completely jammed up my phone, requiring a hard restart. It was amazingly accurate for the 8 balls I was able to hit. Very frustrating and NOT ready for prime time. I’ve downloaded and used 100s of apps and not once has one completely jammed my phone. Wish until the kinks are ironed out, assuming they figure it out. Also hearing tech support can’t keep up with the calls, but I’ll try on Monday and report back
Did all that before the first session. The reviews on the app echo my experience, minus the frozen phone issue I experienced. I didn’t own an R10 when newly launched, but I don’t recall reading about so many issues.
David, When the units you are comparing give you two different carry numbers, how do you know which one is correct? Can you take them to the range where distance is measured out and you actually know how far they are going?
the numbers are so close and probably no two units will give you exact numbers. There will always be some percentage of error. I'd say they are close enough. What more important is that which ever unit you use it consistently gives the same number. This way you can practice with knowing it will always be the same. I'd be concerned if they numbers were all over the place. But ultimately you take the average and it should be very close.
The odd thing, is I'm watching some videos to look at the MLM, and when its compared to a GC quad or Bushnell, the ball speeds are almost identical. WHen looking at Skytrak vs these, the skytrak is always all over the place, along with the Garmin. This leads me to believe the MLM is more accurate in terms of speed.
The continued challenge for many indoor simulators is the space behind and in front of the ball required for doplar style launch monitors. For certain, the algorithms, etc have become much more accurate. That is fantastic. But, reality for many is they don't have 7 to 8 feet behind and 8 to 10 feet in front of the ball to get accurate readings. For indoor, I think many will still go with a SkyTrak type camera system or ceiling mounted (if in the budget). I love the price point of the MLM2Pro, but I don't have space and the SkyTrak will be much better at low chips and putting than an MLM2Pro/R10. The golden goose of launch monitor tech will be either 1) Cutting the price of camera based monitors by 40-50% or 2) creating a budget radar based monitor that only need 4 feet behind the ball max and 7 feet in front of the ball. Shrinking those dimensions while maintaining the under $1K price tag would seal the deal, considering how accurate the budget radars are becoming. That and chipping/putting improvements. Personally, I'd like to see option 1 play out. Get something like a SkyTrak down to a price point of $1,200K
I hear ya and agree but I just don’t think that will happen with the skytrak price. Same a mevo+ really. We all want better gear cheaper but it’s just not profitable for the companies to do that I don’t think 😔
Anyone know if the Rapsodo has issues with fans? Fans can cause interference or issues on the Garmin AR10 and I've had experience with that as I'm set up in my garage here in Arizona. Could be a reason for me to look at the Skytrak. Anyone know?
I have the R10 and have found that outside my distances and shapes are pretty good. But, when I bring indoors in my basement, distances are not good and shot shapes seem to be off. Environment seems to be critical, I assume would see similar trends with Rapsodo. What do you think? Great content again, thanks for continuing to post!
Bro, please take the skytrak out for a couple hits. Right now state side Maple Hill has former demo skytrak straight from the company with warranty for $1250. Compare to the mlm for $699 and maybe waiting till June to try and order again and the decision is a tight one. Plus you can’t compare those ranges 😂. Thank you for the content.
Thanks was using the RPT ball. Realized you can only select 4 metrics in range mode, and you have to to deselect others and select spin, etc. not a huge issue for me, but would love to see all metrics. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but don’t see how to more than 4.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thank you!! I’m a new golfer and slice and deflect slice a good amount of shots.. is the Skytrak OG going to accurately show that? I want to make sure it’s going to be showing this accurate so I know as I improve
If I was to get the MLM2Pro & only use awesome golf on it, would I still need their membership to utilise the spin readings? Because that'd really suck
I know how much you love your Garmin, do you think the shot shape is consistent enough for a 10 handicapper? I just want to be able to see when my hit is a draw vs when it's a pull. Thanks so much for the help, you're an absolute legend in this UA-cam space
@@Jodesy11 thanks 😊 and I think honestly the MLM2 is better for shot shaping as it’s measuring the spin axis whereas the Garmin is calculating it then just measuring the backspin
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thanks for the reply. I have been doing a ton of research lately. I was pretty set on the MLM2. Based on the space that I have for a golf simulator, sky track could be very beneficial. Given that you can get SkyTrack used not plus but just the original sky track. I know I would be able to save some space by not having to have the lunch monitor many feet behind me. For the purposes of saving space, if I get an original SkyTrak will I be less accurate or losing anything in comparison to the MLM2? I could probably fit the MLM2 it would just make things a bit harder
@@towir022 the original skytrak is super accurate, just a bit slower than the MLM2PRO but with the skytrak you have the advantage of being able to use any ball and you’ll get measured ball data as well as the use of fans and heaters and it won’t effect the unit. However with the MLM2PRO it will effect the readings if you have fans, air cons or heaters
@@davidmaxfieldgolf My main goal is getting a driving range and playable courses and having it be accurate. It sounds like a used original sky track. Will do that. I know things like the Garmin r10 try to calculate spin but really you could slice it and it won't show up. I am a big slicer with my driver so I need to have something that will see that so I can work on correcting it. If I'm only indoors using it for playing simulated courses and simulated driving range, is there any benefit to the MLM2 verse SkyTrak? Also I have many PCs and I build them and I have no problem building a PC that can handle GS pro with graphics cards and all of that jazz I'd like to get Android or Apple phones out of the mix and just use a strong PC.

Yeah I’d agree with that. The MLM2PRO does have awesome golf though and they’ll be adding more courses for sure
Yes I’ve done a video with a few holes in my unboxing video 😊
You know you can move the centre line of the skytrak more to the right of the screen. Its cam camera offset.
Yes definitely but I just had the Rapsodo lined up with the skytrak for also
Wow Dave, it's impressive that you were able to call your shots and have both simulators accurately display the shot shape with the tracers. I'm curious about the simulators' ability to detect poor shots such as topping, bad hook, big slice, or shank. Would it be possible for you to intentionally hit some of these poor shots to test whether the simulators can accurately pick them up?
intentionally hit a shank.....how dare you!
@@topgunbass lol. I know my ask sounds a bit crazy.
I hit an accidental topped 6 iron lol 😂 they read it the same
@@topgunbass 😂🤣😂
Dave, thanks for the video. Please may I know if MLM2PRO allows you to pick clubs like 7 hybrid, 8 hybrid ?
Definitely does 👍🏼
It does feel a little like users are the "beta" testers of the first batches of shipments of the MLM2Pro. Seems like something to be purchased a year from now to get a MLM2Pro with more realized potential
Garmin R10 had the same issues too
It almost looked like the more you started the ball on line the better the carry distance was from the mlm2 pro, so maybe when you push or pull it’s not quite as accurate
I think that’s probably more a reflection of impact and strike on my part 😊
David. How are the balls with the rhapsodo that you have to buy for it? Would you be able to put your own black dots on your own balls you like in these same positions on ball and get the number when you hit?
I haven’t tried it as yet, if I put my own black dots on the balls no doubt it would mark my screen
Great video. That’s what I want to watch!
Glad you like it 😊
Could we get a Awesome Golf comparison between MLM and R10?
Done that 😊
There may be a difference to the skytrak and r10, but they have been shown to be different to the GC and TrackMan. Haven’t comparisons between the MLM2PRO and the GC and TrackMan shown to be very similar? Therefore should the MLM2PRO not be the more trusted unit over the skytack and esp the R10 ?
It’s a great question. I don’t know the answer to that as I haven’t tested it myself against those units
MLM2PRO has low ball speed at driver and woods and low carry. I’m not happy with it. Gutted hopefully they will solve the issue
Did you see my driver video? It was fine
Also hearing tech support can’t keep up with the calls, but I’ll try on Monday and report back
Update the firmware in the app for the unit as well as update the app through the App Store
Did all that before the first session. The reviews on the app echo my experience, minus the frozen phone issue I experienced. I didn’t own an R10 when newly launched, but I don’t recall reading about so many issues.
David,
When the units you are comparing give you two different carry numbers, how do you know which one is correct? Can you take them to the range where distance is measured out and you actually know how far they are going?
the numbers are so close and probably no two units will give you exact numbers. There will always be some percentage of error. I'd say they are close enough. What more important is that which ever unit you use it consistently gives the same number. This way you can practice with knowing it will always be the same. I'd be concerned if they numbers were all over the place. But ultimately you take the average and it should be very close.
I think for the most part they were very close and overall the averages would have had minimal differences 😊
Great video! :D
cool to see that the mlm2 did so good :D
Definitely held its own 😊
The odd thing, is I'm watching some videos to look at the MLM, and when its compared to a GC quad or Bushnell, the ball speeds are almost identical. WHen looking at Skytrak vs these, the skytrak is always all over the place, along with the Garmin.
This leads me to believe the MLM is more accurate in terms of speed.
The new skytrak + is spot on with pretty much everything
@@davidmaxfieldgolf oh yeah that + looks so good. Was just about to watch your comparison of that :)
Mlm2pro new 699 usd vs used skytrack for 800 usd which one would you recommend?
Skytrak more accurate but mlm2 more features
Can you add garmin to these or at least try a garmin vs skytrak
I’ve done the Garmin vs MLM2PRO but I do have the Garmin vs Skytrak video up next
Do you know if the mlm2 pro allows for multiple players in simulation. Mode?
No not as yet
We all want better gear cheaper but it’s just not profitable for the companies to do that I don’t think 😔
being a lefty it would be a nuisance to own a launch monitor that only plays one side without moving the unit .
It is the downside to camera units
Anyone know if the Rapsodo has issues with fans? Fans can cause interference or issues on the Garmin AR10 and I've had experience with that as I'm set up in my garage here in Arizona. Could be a reason for me to look at the Skytrak. Anyone know?
Haven’t tried it but I’m guessing no it would be an issue. We also have a hot climate here and being able to have an air con would be a big bonus
Thanks mate 😊 the full radar units like r10 and trackman can struggle indoor. But the MLM2PRO with its RPT ball pattern does really well
Would you expect distances to be off on the R10 indoors too? Seems like most irons are off by 10-20 yards.
@@bills6825 nah you should be pretty good. 7 foot from r10 to ball then 10 foot to screen. I have an r10 video dropping tonight
I’ll take it outside as soon as I can 😊
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thank you sir.
I have the premium membership, but still can’t see ball speed or spin axis. Is there a setting I’m missing, or other potential reason?
you need to choose Rapsodo ball and be hitting the RPT ball
Thanks was using the RPT ball. Realized you can only select 4 metrics in range mode, and you have to to deselect others and select spin, etc. not a huge issue for me, but would love to see all metrics. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but don’t see how to more than 4.

The OG Skytrak
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thank you!! I’m a new golfer and slice and deflect slice a good amount of shots.. is the Skytrak OG going to accurately show that? I want to make sure it’s going to be showing this accurate so I know as I improve
If I was to get the MLM2Pro & only use awesome golf on it, would I still need their membership to utilise the spin readings? Because that'd really suck
You can get an estimate spin reading but not a measured spin
@@davidmaxfieldgolf and that difference would likely significantly impact the shaping correct?
I know how much you love your Garmin, do you think the shot shape is consistent enough for a 10 handicapper? I just want to be able to see when my hit is a draw vs when it's a pull. Thanks so much for the help, you're an absolute legend in this UA-cam space
@@Jodesy11 thanks 😊 and I think honestly the MLM2 is better for shot shaping as it’s measuring the spin axis whereas the Garmin is calculating it then just measuring the backspin
Is this skytrak or the newer skytrak+. ?
Skytrak but I have done plenty of views with the skytrak+ as well
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thanks for the reply.
Also I have many PCs and I build them and I have no problem building a PC that can handle GS pro with graphics cards and all of that jazz
I'd like to get Android or Apple phones out of the mix and just use a strong PC.
if you're always indoors then go Skytrak

Flushing the ball should not be a requirement of a launch monitor.
