I finally logged in a few hours with my MLM2 and I am completely blown away! I brought it out in the yard to hit some wedges so I could compare the ball flights and they were spot on! And I wasn't using the RPT balls, still perfect shot shape. I will say though after using it inside, the spin numbers without using the RPT were off, but it was still giving me a very accurate shot shape and numbers ( Just not spin rate) .

Agree, I should have been more clear in that section. When you use the premium ball setting in the Rapsodo app it’s not that far off but in awesome golf it was this time
Great comparison video, I am sticking with the R10 and awesome golf, the subscription to use the mlm2 is a a marketing ploy, free for a year is a trap, better to go with the Sky Track, because with the mlm2 you will need at least Awesome Golf so that’s 2 subscriptions and probably need a third for playing courses, that’s close to 600 bucks a year plus the rpt balls .
So the best budget option is the R10 plus the subscription to awesome golf best top feature choice would be the Sky Track. As golf sims become more widely used costs of these units should come down, till then I will most likely end up with just the R10 and GSPro for my indoor sim, also I think Garmin will release another unit to compete with the Sky Track but more affordable. Garmin has a huge investment in golf with their watches and other devices so I doubt they will allow someone to beat them, so very positive times for golfers. There are golf sims popping up all over the place, it’s never been easier to get into golf and reach a level of proficiency that makes for a satisfying round.

Agree Ken, if costa are an issue then the Garmin R10 is the most affordable option. The MLM2PRO does have advantages with the duel camera and spin axis on the ball but like you’ve mentioned there’s an extra cost. Skytrak is the best option for indoor sims for sure but it’s a higher cost again

Can you do a video with the SkyTrak outdoors? Seems this is where it has the most problems is in sunlight. I hit balls into a net in the back yard. So being able to work outside is crucial. Would love to see a review of the new one outdoors when you get it. Thanks for the awesome videos!

So Dave I need some clarification (BTW finally got my MLM2PRO) on the RPT balls (Very funny pun in the video :) ) - when setting the MLM2PRO app to use the RPT ball will that then show the Spin when using the integrated packages such as Awesome Golf or do you not get any spin - I am asking as I want to get a subscription going with the next few days but wanted to be sure that if I used the RPT balls that I would get spin when using Awesome Golf, E6 etc. - TY - Great vid cant wait to see the upcoming vids!!! Yes 100% you can change from rpt ball to premium ball in the awesome golf app also and it does give you the italics where it shows an estimated spin for the non rpt balls. Not sure why it didn’t work here but I tried after and it was there as an option

Loving the content David. Do you know if they will offer this deal for the US as well? Everything on the US site says sold out and they also do not have the mlm2pro listed as an available launch monitor. If I switch over to the Australian site, everything shows available.

@David, I notice you mention the MLM2 is affected by fan wind or AC. I live in a hot environment (Florida) and was planning to put in an AC unit and maybe a small fan to gently circulate the air. Am I in for trouble with the MLM accuracy if I go that route?
If it’s fan forced than that will interfere with any Doppler radar. Even trackman. Ducted air con you will get away with
I found my R10 would screw up readings sometimes if my garage heater was pointed in certain directions, but I've had no such issues with mlm2pro
A fan or heater effects the radar waves but with a camera unit it won’t 😁
I've got a heater mounted up by the top of the ceiling in my garage in the corner 12ft up. Do you think that would would mess up the R10?@@davidmaxfieldgolf
I actually own a Skytrak and just got the MLM2, I would agree with David, the Skytrak is just a little better. The MLM2 isn't quite there, at least not yet, maybe after some updates.
Skytrak is great value, especially now if you get the old version on sale
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I got mine used for $800 during Covid(lucky deal) been rock solid and very accurate, a little short on the driver, but ball flight is dead on.

@@jaradcohen Hello Mate! My main issues with the MLM2 are missed shots and buggy performance. I do most of my practice indoor into a net. The MLM2 misses a LOT more shots than Skytrak. From what I have heard, the MLM2 works much better at the range, I have not tried that yet. My Skytrak misses a shot maybe once every 50 shots or so. I have also had some crashes and software issues with the MLM2, but I think they will get it fixed. Overall I think it is a good product and very portable! I think it will be great to take to the range, but overall, for the type of practice I do mostly, you can't beat the Skytrak for the price(pretty cheap used now). I will keep the MLM2, I think it will get better with updates, as far as accuracy goes they are both pretty spot on and the camera function in the MLM2 is pretty cool too.
I'd love to see a sim mesh up with EA PGA Tour or 2K23 and get the full PGA competition experience.

Ok David - say I made the call and purchased the Garmin R10 and subscribed to Awesome golf and have a pack of RCT balls. Through my research I have a set of target stats I want to measure my practice sessions against- how do I do this. If it’s not a present feature in Awesome golf can you make a suggestion to them to include it. In fact, it would be great to have my (static) targets against carry distance, swing speed, smash factor, spin rate, launch angle, attack angle, and apex. I can then look at the practice session and the variation to my targets… to me this is now the focus of the equipment
That’s all available in awesome golf. Use the coaching section and then you can check your post practise stats there but it also saves them in the Awesome Golf Community tab

Yeah fake turf from Bunnings. Cheap and easy way to fill the sim
David, you can get a stencil with the RPT ball pattern and put it on any ball. There a couple video out there showing this being done seems to work well. You wont have to pay 170 for the balls.

how does air cons in a room impact outdoor built units wheres theres wind?
If the air con is portable and blows air it will affect the radar unit. So does a standard fan. But ducked aircon will work just fine.
So I want to take a LM out to a range since I don't have a setup at home. As you mentioned, the Skytrak is nice because I don't need to set it so far behind me. I'm looking on eBay and see many selling for ~ $1200. I know to use the best features of the MLM2PRO you most likely need to get the annual $200 subscription, which is included free the first year. My big question though is out-of-the-box, with no additional packages or subscriptions, what features do each provide and is it worth the extra $500ish to get a used previous model Skytrak for the range? I was considering the Mevo+ as well, but would prefer not spending upwards of $2k-3k for now.
The MLM2PRO will be better than the original skytrak on the range in bright conditions. If you’re just going to the range at night then skytrak will be fine.

Do you need those balls for the Garmin r10 for outdoor drifing range
To get the most out of the Garmin you will need an RCT ball. It doesn’t have a range ball option

No unfortunately not, need to go to skytrak for that
I'll keep saying it when you have to spend 200 yearly subscription to unlock the rapsodo for what you get is terrible. Topping that with potential e6 or awesome golf subscription makes this unit go to the bottom of the list. Same really. The new skytrack seems good with being able to place the ball down easier, but the cost is way more than the other 2 units. I play with lefties and to try and move the unit back and forth to play a round is not possible. So that would leave the R10 as the unit of choice for the money. Thanks for the video. Id like to see a video on this swing technique you are talking about.

I gave up on my MLM2PRO. Just no meat on the bones of that software. I back to my R10 and gspro. R10 is great and easy on the range and pretty good in the sim. It very seldom misses a read.

@@ryanwinters8382 Pretty close. The yardage is marked on the range and it lined up pretty well with what I could see visually. What I liked about it was how easy it was to setup, connect my android and get numbers. At most 10 min and no fiddling with the club settings or lost connections. It speaks out one of the measurements so I have it say the carry. Which is cool when you running through a bucket of balls.
I may regret later droping ther MLM2pro, it just bugged me as an very early adopter (pre ordered etc) that so many things about the software just didn't give me the warm fuzzies. Not with the software crippling of spin to premium plan only or disabling the combind ... come-on the combine blocked to premium only? Giveme a break.

What club data are you referring to? it doesn't have much. Mainly ball data. Club speed yeah is accurate but theres not much more actual club data in the MLM2

I’ve gone back to a Right Sided Swing and I’ve always found that it’s fantastic for iron accuracy 😁 now that I’m getting the technique better it’s really been beneficial

why are you hitting at the right side bunker but the screen shows you strait down the guts
It’s the alignment of the launch monitor. So the screen is lined up with the projector but i have to put the launch monitors to the right side so that my club doesnt hit my garage motor box
