Rare breed is known for it's value and barrel proof goodness, can the Rare Breed Rye stand up to it's older higher proofed brother?

I bought one last week for 70 bucks there is only one bottle left after I took it off the shelf. It was the first time I’ve ever even try’s a rye and it’s definitely one of my favorites you were right on point me and my girlfriend were getting cinnamon pepper plum raisin maple oak I think it will be even better next week when I drink some I think it will open up more🥃

I love everything wild turkey makes. Wild turkey to me like old forester to you guys. Btw hated old forester rye, could not even finish the bottle. Different palates for sure. Rare bread rye 46$ in south fl if you can find it.
I barely made it through a bottle of the OF 1920. I absolutely hated it. I love the OF 1910 though.
@@jskypercussion funny how we all have different taste. I love 1920 , 1910 is just ok. When I just started out drinking bourbon I didn't like high proof but now(few years later) I love high proof bourbons
@@alekseymel7852 Yes at the end of the day taste is subjective and I totally honor everyone's opinions. I will have friends taste things with me and it amazes me how sometimes they taste things differently. I had a friend recently actually like the underwhelming Elijah Craig C921 over the Remus Repeal Series 4. I was shocked. I am also a barrel proof nut, so I do prefer higher proofs. It actually shocked me how I didn't like the 1920. And trust me, I was frustrated because I wanted to like it. I really tried my hardest too.
I had to get another bottle the next day after tasting this. Really sneaky drink.
Old Forester rye is one of my favorites. The best rye I have is Whistlepig 10year

I just got this last week and am really liking it. I think it'd be interesting to compare this to Pikesville which is almost equivalent in abv, the same or similar mashbill, and usually about $10 cheaper in most areas.
In my mind I think I like the rare breed more, but I like to get things wrong a lot

What do you guys think of Wild Turkey American Honey? I’m a big fan of the Jim Beam Honey but I want to branch out to other honey whiskey’s.
It is veeeeeery sweet, basically like drinking syrup.
Nice vid gents, need to find this one soon. I get a ton of citrus in turkey products so I wasn’t surprised to hear the lemon note. My wife may want it based on Ghardettos though haha

Have been thinking about this for a while... what are baking spices? Hear this all the time but I don't bake so no frame of reference. Like which spices are you talking about?
For me I think of nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.
This video seemed a little quieter than normal to me. I had to up my volume a couple of points from where I normally have it. Otherwise, excellent content as usual!
Yea we're always trying to optimize sound, a few other things are tweaked along with volume a touch down.

So a fun fact about Wild Turkey - 100% of their bourbons are the exact same mash bill except the rye. All bourbons are the same mash bill. WT achieves the different flavors through aging and filtering. They only produce the rye mash bill for about 2 weeks a year. Usually before their annual shut down so they can clean the system before going back to their bourbon mash bill without any cross contamination.
Ya know the amount of times I've listed that mash bill you'd think I'd realise that by now.

Just tried this tonight, has a funk that I’ve never tasted yet. I tried to picture it being gardetto but not sure if it is that. Does it taste better after the bottle sits on the shelf for a couple months after being opened? I love rare breed but this is more challenging. I love OF rye btw.
I'd revisit it later. I think we loved it more a few weeks after opening. Is much punchier than the OF rye that's for sure.
@@BourbonJunkies figured out the “funk” I thought it was. It has a dill pickle sunflower seed aftertaste. About 3 seconds after you drink it that taste comes in. A bit grassy too but learning to enjoy it more.
