She went back to them to work on her second album bc at the time she was getting so much hate that she just wanted to work with her friends again. At the time these leaked songs were very shocking but now with all these female rappers it doesn’t stand out as much.
Middle Man is one of her best songs, from one of her best albums…Digital Distortion, I will never forget you 🫂 P.S: I had kind of a similar reaction like yours on the first listen, but trust me, this masterpiece is NOT A MISS !!!

Next came started which also has similar success Both of those singles are either gold or platinum now (Honorable mention KREAM) But that was still technically under a label even though it was the last single sheet dropped under a label so technically, she did what she wanted on that single, which is also double platinum, and super viral on TikTok
She’s grown a lot from there, but at the time it was released I was in shock. Although it’s not heavy on bars, this was her first time ever addressing her hate train. And while everyone was obsessed with mid 2020’s EDM, this felt fresh (and the beat is still lit af). The way she puts her vocals in the chorus still gives me chills, there’s something in her voice I can’t explain.
You really need to listen to the songs from her album “in my defense”, most of her old music didn’t age well for me, but In my defense is solid, bop after bop and she had some really good bars
