Madonna the highest selling female recording artist of all time with 400 million records sold worldwide. So many hits across 4 decades. Madonna just played in front of 1.6 million people in Brazil. The highest attended concert of all time. A true icon and legend
It was a free concert. What do you expect?
@@murraytown4 lots of singers could give free concerts and still not be able to pull in a million people.
@@murraytown4All concerts with the most record breaking have been free. Theres no way it cant be.
shut up
And I have never gotten it.🤷🏻♂️ She’s fine.🤘🏻
My fave from her.The music is haunting
So is the face
@@MarcoNegrisEye Don't you have anything better to do?
My favorite too
@@gigi-ij1hk what? Like comment on the same section that YOU commented on? ...I'm Scottish so obviously intelligent. I'll give you 24 hours to catch up 😂
@@MarcoNegrisEye I don't spend my time posting shitty sexist comments about people who are a million times more successful than either of us will ever be. Also WTF does "I'm Scottish so obvs intelligent" mean? No shade to the rest of your people but you're not exactly doing them proud here
She is an underrated singer. ALL her ballads she sounds stunning. she is not a powerhouse vocalist but she is a great pop singer. Nile rodgers said this song was Madonnas most real vocal. Its her voice at its rawest.
yeah I do love her ballads - crazy for you, take a bow
That Bridge at 5:39 is the best part of the song. This woman can sing for real. Check out "GONE". It's another slow song that Madonna rocks
At close Range. You should really react to that movie. Based on a true story. Back when Madonna and Saun Penn were together
Lots of great actors in that film. Kiefer Sutherland, Chris Penn, David strathairn, crispin glover, and of course sean Penn and a wacky/creepy performance from Walken.
Well done, but disturbing film.
Just don't take pics of Sean or he'll punch you.
💯 should watch that movie and react. 👏🏼
This is a profoundly personal song that she co-wrote and recorded. She gave this song spectacular live versions in 2005 Confessions Tour (the crucifixion scene/plight of the African AIDS orphans) and in her recent Celebration Tour (tribute to her friends and those who perished from the AIDS epidemic). Suggest you view these to get a fuller appreciation of her artistry and advocacy.
Even the Who's That Girl Tour and the Blond Ambition Tour versions are great too.
yes I went to the celebration concert before xmas and that brought me to tears when all those pictures came up singing that song
Every album has a different feel to it. She is so versatile
Not gonna lie. I’m not a Madonna fan at all for various reasons, but she knocked it out of the park with this one. It’s a hauntingly beautiful song.
And she wrote the song too. In one day
Madonna has the best pop songs ever 😘
Right? I mean I'm not really a Madonna fan because of reasons I won't get into but this song is dope and so are probably about 6 other songs of hers!
@@MartinSmith156 Less time than that...😉
Asia & BJ, you'll love her "Into The Groove" and "Dress You Up"!!!
her live performances of this song are so iconic! 🔥
Thanks for appreciating Madonna! My favorite artist of all time and right up there with the Beatles and Elvis. Legendary and historic.
This is my all-time favorite Madonna song. As someone typed below me, it is "haunting" because of the movie that it s linked to....
The scene from the movie this is in is magical
Whitney...Mariah...Celine...they're all technically better singers. But Madonna paints a picture with her music that none of them can match, especially with her 20th century work.
What is the movie
@@craigmoyle2924 It is called "At Close Range." It is a 1986 movie starring a young Sean Penn, Christopher Walken. Christopher Penn, & Kiefer Sutherland
@@JasonMistretta-wf5ip And later Christopher Walken appeared in Madonna's cinematic "Bad Girl" music video.
4:18 This! I love this exchange between you because you’re BOTH right. She has a distinct style and brand that’s unmistakeable, and paradoxically part of that is that she is constantly reinventing herself and evolving as an artist. Never, ever stagnant or repetitive (other than reliably pushing people’s buttons and make them *feel* something.) One way or the other, she’s going to move you - either physically, or emotionally.
Madonna has said the lyrics were partly inspired by her parents and the lying she witnessed at home while growing up. I saw her concert in Houston in March. It was incredible to hear her sing this live while black & white photos of friends & loved ones of Madonna and hundreds of others that were lost to AIDS were displayed on multiple screens. Pictures everywhere of loved ones no longer with us. Very moving.
When you said I think she's talking about me you hit on something that really speaks to Madonnas incredible song writing. She has so many songs where they conveys a feeling and a scenario personal to her but doesn't hit you over the head with the idea leaving it up for personal interpretation by the listener. Many times while being interviewed and asked about specific meanings to any particular song she will say she prefers to keep it to herself and leave it open to interpretation. This song really embodies that and her song writing.
I saw Madonna perform this live in December! Great performance of a great ballad by a GREAT ARTIST 💣🔥👏🏾
One of my fave songs from her! She blew everyone away when this song came out because she completely changed her image. Her transformation would never settle to one style. She constantly evolved and her appearance became a part of that. So many imitations but only one Madonna!!🥰⭐️😎
I got to see her in concert last April. Best concert I've ever been to. Her performance of this song was particularly moving, as she had thousands of pictures up honoring those who have died from AIDS
That would be very moving.
She sings, like spoken poetry
She has a honest voice, that makes you believe everything she sings... from ballads to dance....
Love the old Madonna. 'Papa Don't Preach' is another banger
Memories of my first stay in the U.S. in 1986, it was playing on the school bus the whole time.
1:37. I recommend that you go and lookup the ACTUAL Music Video! The original music video explains the words of the song. This was on the soundtrack of a movie called "At Close Range." The movie is a murder mystery. The original music video will explain the song!
The song definitely fits the movie, but I'm pretty sure it's a personal song to her. About the pain of growing up without a mother, etc. But she wrote it so it's vague enough that it could have multiple meanings. In later years she performed the song as a tribute to the people she's lost to AIDS (as you may already know!).
Madonna in dark mode: Live to Tell, Frozen, & especially Oh Father (which is incredibly impressive for the lyrics, vocals, & cinematography).
I think Live to Tell is super underrated and one of her best songs. Its haunting melody and words is such a mood.
There are only two songs of hers that I have always liked. This is one of them & is from the movie "At Close Range".
The other one is also from a movie.."This Used To Be My Playground", played during the end credits of "A League of Their Own".
Both songs have a haunting, ethereal quality that comes through regardless of the singer. Beautiful.✨️✨️
Those are my two favorites of hers as well.
Couldn't agree more.
Madonna was at her best when she did the brooding, haunting songs. From True Blue, this was her first masterpiece. Like a Prayer gave us "Oh Father", another masterpiece. Then Erotica gave us "Bad Girl". To this day, that trilogy is her finest hour.
I just love this song.
Madonna is extremely intelligent, straight A student in high school, she kept herself current during her career, a great music artist
This song was made for a movie called 'At close range" based on a true story. One of her best songs, this was before She went nuts.
Walken and Penn
@@DavidDrouant 👍great movie
@@DavidDrouant Sean's (now late) brother Chris plays his brother, and their mother plays their *grandmother*!
Yes, my favorite of hers, great movie too
She has not gone nuts. What a ridiculous comment.
who doesnt like Madonna?! lol. Ive loved her since the day she breathed life into this world...meaning, her first track lol. And her bday is a few days after mine ;) Love this song. thnx guys. Also you guys were speaking about the difference in her tone throughout all her songs. and youre right. A bunch of her b-side type tracks are like that also. Shes just got such a range ...as herself..
Always have and always will LOVE this song!!! 💖💙🙂👍
Yessss. The Queen! Love it. Amazing song by her. More Madonna please! Love you guys!
Hi guys! I have followed Madonna since the beginning of her long career and I can assure you that this beautiful song is in the Top 10 of her hits.
Madonna vocals is about emotion in her voice. It’s not about range, it’s her tone and her ability to find notes not used by belters, she’s a story teller through every note.
Such a great song. The album it comes from, "True Blue", is great. Not a bad song on it.
One of her best songs in my opinion
I❤️ this song soooo much!👏🏾👏🏾 It takes me back to when I lived in NYC. I was in love🥰
My favorite Madonna song... Slow Banger!
One of my favorite songs from her!
forever the queen of pop
Bj always has an insightful observance because he’s right about how different and special Madonna’s voice, sound and style is! I think he said even though she doesn’t hit really high or low notes, it’s still so special and beautiful.
You guys need to start watching her live shows!
My Top 3 Madonna Tracks No. 3 The Power of Goodbye - No. 2 Live to Tell and No. 1 I’ll Remember 🙏
Her best song imo. Written for her hubby Sean Penn’s movie At Close Range, which is excellent as well. Especially Christopher Walken at his best.
Seeing her perform this live.... Gave me chills! I'm 46 years old and I have loved her since I was little
It is a messmerizing song. This song is from a movie soundtrack At Close Range, if you see the movie you will understand the song better.
Her best song
Taking me back to my senior year 1986-87 with this one!
Gotta check out “Spotlight” by her. Almost no radio play, but was played in the clubs. IMO one of her best
G'day it's Steven from down under the
Love your honest reactions
This is one of my many favorite Madonna songs.
ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF POP!
Oh, I would have reacted to the official video as the visuals of this video are just as beautiful.😊
This song takes me back to Massachusetts, elementary school. Now I'm 50 and in Az. Good choice.
The icons and legends with their big secrets must go and never come back
Has been a favorite song of mine since childhood!
One of my favorites of hers. Try You Must Love Me and Don’t Cry for Me Argentina from the movie EVITA. Both really showcase her voice and are just beautiful.
Definitely her best song!
Live to tell from Madonna a realy great song. Sean Penn and Madonna..... 🫣
btw, the lyrics were written revovling around the movie it was made for starring sean penn. its about a son knowing his dad is a mobster that just murdered. hence the secret that burns inside that she keeps singing about
You guys must see the live version of this song from The Confessions Tour. It will give you goosebumps,I guarantee
BEAUTIFUL (vídeo, artista, lyrics, song...)
She is a unique versátil artist. She sings with so much emotion ❤
Her theme song to the movie ‘League of Their Own’ .. beautiful lyrics.
She provided the lyics and what she thought would be the voice for the demo (in one take!), but was told this would be the final product for the film.
From a great movie and true story when madonna sang great music she had a beautiful voice 😊
One of my favorites. Among these were this one and the song from a league of their own This used to be my playground ❤
as said in the comments below this is the movie song from ( at close range ) which I highly recomend watching , the actors in it are sean penn , his brother in real life chris penn who passed ( bless him ) and christofor walkin whos a great actor ... as always love both your reactions and interpretations of the song . spot on asia be careful who you tell your feelings to , again love your reactions ..
This song is also the song for the movie she played in At Close Range. She and her husband Sean Penn at the time casted in.
This is simply her best
Beautiful song.
❤One my favorites her early years ❤
The official video is about the movie, At Close Range, starring Christopher Walken and her then husband, Sean Penn. Much of the movie is in the video. She's singing about the murder in the movie which is shown in the video. You'll get so much more from it. You'll enjoy it.
This was in the movie called At close Range with sean penn who was married to Madonna at the time
Her best work hands down was the take a bow album
You two are the cutest couple ever love your videos! The soundtrack is from the movie at close range. She co-wrote the song for the movie which her husband at the time Sean Penn was playing in. The movie is based on a true story that happened in Pennsylvania. One of the best movies I've ever seen! One of the best songs from a soundtrack ever.
The official video (promoting both song and movie) is super cool too.
Asia pretty much said it. Madonna is and was known for being the Queen of Reinvention. Each album is different from the last. To put it simply, Madonna doesn't like to repeat herself.
Great song from a great movie, At Close Range.
One of my favorite Madonna songs and it goes perfectly with the movie At Close Range which is based on a true story. The ending of the movie breaks my heart… A truly haunting movie.
At Close Range,,,my favorite movie.
Sometime you should watch her Blonde Ambition Tour.... it literally changed how we now view concerts.
Patrick Leonard asked Madonna to sing the demo to sell it to another artist. This was her first and only take. It became one of her biggest hits at the time.
she is a classic
Love both of your commentary on Madonna's voice. Yes, she's no Whitney or Celine, but Madonna, IMO, is the ONLY singer that can convey a song in her own unique way, as appropriate to the song. If you listen to her entire catalog, the vocals she uses are different from song to song. And it works. Madonna is so underrated in this respect and gets no props from anyone for this and it's really too bad because it's really the sign of a brilliant artist, IMO.
If you have never heard Take a Bow, it's one of her best in my opinion.
You should react to the live version of this on the confession tour its stunning
I read she did write it about a hard past family life.
The meaning of the song is just better understood if you read the plot or synopsis of the movie "At close Range"...you don't have to see the movie, you just have to know what it's about(a few other people pointed this out)...She's just singing about the dilema of Sean Penn's character from his perspective...and yes, as someone already stated, Christopher Walken is creepy not only in his performance, but in real life as well...if you wanna know how creepy Christopher Walken is in reality, Mel Gibson will tell you in an interview that can be found on youtube...after meeting Christopher Walken, he knew he would never want to work with him based on the conversation they had about human torture
Title track from At Close Range a 1986 Movie A Crime story based on a real family Sean Penn and Christopher Walken star.
She wrote this song at the time she was married to Sean Penn. They only lasted four years together. However, this song was used as the lead song to a film Sean was in, At Close Range. The combination of the film’s plot along with her tumultuous marriage to Sean is where this song stems.
This song was Madonna telling the masses, “I can be tasteful too” Gaga did that with that Mary Poppins thingy.
Hell Yeah!!! Nice one A n B!!! 💥☘️🇺🇲
I love you two. you're such a lovely couple. and both good looking too.
I actually lived through this. My name is Robert Whitford. This humiliated me. I can't ever live this down
I'm not that person
Great ballad.
I read in an interview she said that this song was originally inspired by her relationship or lack thereof with her father and stepmother while she was growing up and the lying that went on from her parents to her. But this song was used as part of the soundtrack for her then husband Sean Penn in his movie At Close Range which you guys should react to.
good reaction guys, the "secret" that she refers to, is about the raped she was victim of, way back before she was famous, other than that , this is a great song too!
Awesome!!! Have a great weekend!
PLEASE DO A REACTION TO MADONNA "YOU'LL SEE " ❤
From the true story and movie at close range
Soundtrack for the movie "At Close Range". It's a good movie with Christopher Walken and Sean Penn, based on a true story.
