When Xenoblade 3 was a normal game: "Look guys, there's a dead person! We should play our beautiful music and make them dissipate so that we could get more affinity with the colony. That's something meatier in my book!" God I miss those days. Truly innocent and lighthearted.
Seeing you excited with the minimum details makes me happy! As a person that give a lot of value on those little details, this game is one of my favorites in no time!
Let's wait for Xeno4, but it really was an emotional rollercoaster, I really liked the party mechanic in this game, from having all of your party members from the beggining, to see all of them growing and fighting at the same time in the adventure
38:06 is gonna be one of the things I'm most glad about! I actually remember me and 2 other guys asking Harry to raid you and I was so glad he did! Just as I'm glad watching this video and remembering all these moments we xenoheads went through together!
@@jacobmonks3722 just like nopons, we need to protect him at all costs! (Btw he's going to be live streaming 8 hours from the time this comment is posted)
deeply grateful that you're sharing this journey with us. i've described the game as my favorite/best i've ever played/other superlative title ever since i've played it, but i felt so seen for the first time about the reason for and the extent of its impact on me when I watched your chapter 1 video that I just want to say thank you. that video allowed me to reconnect with it all on an even deeper level
I'm loving your commentary about like the biblical names and references and works of art like picasso's guernica. It's really nice seeing a xenoblade player pick up on that stuff because it is a series that leverages those symbols in meaningful ways, and so it's really cool watching you try to think through the pieces and put them together as you progress.
I couldn't stop thinking about this game days after I finished it. Even now rewatching it I remember bits of dialogue and I've only played it once. It's that good! Also those lines from Manana atthe camp lmaoo claps for localization team😂
Localization is on crack for this game, both tranlation and voice acting. As someone who played the game in both English and Japanese (text and voice acting) I definitely prefer the English (British), which hardly happens for any Japan-produced media. The Romero and Julietta lines are some of the best localization efforts I've ever seen.
@@rhettmitchell Since noone has directly answered you yet, even though this is a little late I'll add my two cents. The way that the nopon speak in Japanese is essentially the same as the normal speech patterns of other characters, however they add in a "word" (mo) at the end of some of their sentences to sound cuter. The English localization for Xenoblade 1 took the "cute" aspect and turned it into slightly broken grammar + new "pon" phrases. This has always been in the Japanese nopon speech, but was only brought into the English version starting in xenoblade 2 (hence the infamous "meh meh!"). It seems like they heard the complaints about this and reverted back to the Xenoblade 1 style of nopon localization for this game.
Seeing your reaction to the wild ride line is great, people went nuts hearing the term "passage of fate" when it was used in a trailer. So many theories and speculations branched off it
1:11:26 Best cutscene in the game and we have an oversight. Not only does Lanz speak here without the characteristic Interlink reverb, but the game’s subtitle files misattribute his line to Noah!
Just a video game like any other, inspiring 275 hours to vanish in the blink of an eye and restructuring brain chemistry to be nothing but Xenoblade for a few months, because that’s absolutely normal. Just happens to be exponentially good.
Yessss I was waiting for this omg. Can’t wait to see the rest play out. I loveeeeee the way you play the game and your commentary. This is my favourite game of all time I really hope you love it
The Guernica lore dump was very insightful- I've seen the painting but it never even crossed my mind while playing, I should've googled Guernica back then because wow, spot on breakdown there. I love watching Xenoblade playthroughs and I recently found this channel and I love that you're taking notes and digesting things and pausing to pull at these threads, it's always very interesting and unique even when the game doesn't end up going there.
Every time I rewatch or replay this game I get reminded of how epic this story can get. From the small charater building moments to the big climactic fights, this game holds no punches.
The themes and characters hit so hard. Since I beat the game, not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about it. It permanently changed how I view works of art.
Gernika is a town in the Basque Country, in Spain. Picasso painted that painting about how the Francoist regime bombed the town due to the resistance during the Spanish Civil War (note: with fascist and Nazi aviation), and is indeed an anti-war painting.
Vandham has also been in Xenoblade 1. They just renamed him Vangarre in the west. And Xenoblade X has also a Vandham; there's even an Easter egg where you call him colonel Squaretache if you use the right option.
I still remember when I played that final sequence in this chapter, I ended up tearing up because I was so overwhelmed with what I was seeing. I already knew the game was special then, but that moment sealed it for me.
I love how the conversation about Guernica and Noah and the deep implications of names comes from the same series that brought us two cat characters named "Nya" and "Meow" 😂😂😂 they can't keep getting away with this
On the past year Ive played XC3 and FR (I've played the other ones before) and I've played through all of FFVII so I can experience Rebirth at the release date, even though I love FFVII for the amazing fantasy story it is, XC3 still stays above that one, just because of the way it resonates with me, mainly because of past life experiences, growing up and life in general. Zelda games were the games that shaped my growing up, but for the past 2 years I saw a change on my top 3 and XC games took over that 1st place because its no longer about a green guy saving the princess or a group of friends saving the planet, its about life choices, fate, controlling your path, decisions, making and keeping friends, and much more. Can't wait for your next video!
I dunno if you finished the game already or not, but I'll give some tips about interlinking that might be useful: Interlink levels are gained by using fusion arts, and each level makes the form stronger. At level 0, you're still invincible, but your arts have no extra effect, your talent art takes ages to charge up, and you overheat faster; However, at level 3, you get more damage universally, your arts have effects, the talent art fills up fast, and you have more time in the form. Linking at lv 0 has its uses, like saving yourself from a dangerous art, but for everything else it kinda sucks Also, your AI party members are *terrible* at linking; they very often link at Lv 0, which like I said before is bad. There's a setting in the menu that allows you to have manual control of all your interlinks, so it might be good to try that if you wanna.
1:00:40 Ethel - "You even have the same type of weapon as Morag" - Nope , not even close ... I feel like the Alfeto Valley music low-key grew on me, even after my playthrough, to eventually become my favorite area theme. The whole OST was way more of a slow-burn to me than 2, which instantly asserts itself with bold energy. I was disappointed with this OST for a long time until it grew on me. Still not my favorite, but overall excellent with some real standouts. Incidentally the menu music and chain attack theme are largely responsible for preventing these songs from clicking to me because they are constantly interrupted during gameplay. I know the menu theme and chain attack music are outstanding but they shouldn’t do that again 😓
I think the bigger contributor to that feeling is that they gave you the option to change the time of day during your fast travel which, while a neat feature, also makes the music start from the beginning again. There are probably some areas where I never even heard the Night theme for in-game.
Oh yeah! I totally forgot about the "fast travel makes it day" thing - that was a huge obstacle to the music. I literally did not hear multiple night tracks one single time during my playthrough before I realized that. All of those things made a very good soundtrack incredibly difficult to connect with until I finally had the soundtrack to listen to without interruption.@@jacobmonks3722
@@jacobmonks3722 yeah I feel like a lot of people only heard Eagus Wilderness, Erythia Sea, and maybe a few others at night unless they made a conscious effort to fast travel there at night :/ the night themes are gorgeous, it’s sad that so many people probably haven’t heard a lot of them
