Do you stream on Mixcloud or Twitch??

    • @MarsNova
      @MarsNova 3 роки тому

Both. But me and my boys all say the same thing about Mixcloud: it needs features badly.

A few of use both just to boost our signals and to support paying royalties, but we all say that Mixcloud just doesn’t have the bells and whistles that Twitch has to keep users engaged. The others don’t see the point in paying every month for such a limited platform, which I understand. I do use the subscription service, though, and I have a couple of subscribers, so I guess that’s cool. And I plug both my streams when I broadcast, so that listeners have a choice- I wouldn’t rely solely on Mixcloud for an audience, but I DO tell them to take advantage of my Mixcloud subscription to hear archives of what they might have heard on Twitch (and old mixes from my past that haven’t been heard since). And since I have a brand to push, I think of the $15 as a good investment.

What up Nick, I use MixCloud at the moment, mostly did it to stay on my game during the lockdown. I do wish they would make it easier to monetize your streams. I will stick with it a little longer but as things open up it would be less critical to keep streaming on MixCloud. Hopefully the promised improvements will come soon.

Another question future vid. When most clubs open are dj's going to use twitch or Mixcloud the same time playing the club ? Just thoughts on that lol. I'm curious.

Mixcloud is for the dj community. Twitch is built around gamers.

I use mixcloud. I think it is great to pay royalties. I don't do it for the money, I did it to stay fresh during covid and to just play different stuff. It's hard to compare to twitch as twitch has been around for awhile. I do see dmca coming because well there is mixcloud.

We used Mixcloud for a while, but the interface is so clunky and navigation is quite unfriendly. That, on top of the fact it doesn't integrate as well with Restream as UA-cam, Twitch & FB do, so until they fix those problems, we're not using it.

I couldn't agree more... you got it spot on...I tried both extensively... Mixcloud features are terrible... the only pro is the licence... everything else is so wrong that I feel they just want to be bought that's all, they simply don't care.

I subscribed to Mixcloud having been Banned from Twitch for accidentally playing a music video with topless dancers, which shocked me, it wasn't porn!.
I honestly believe for £9 per month to play legally and on top of that it saves every stream you make for anyone to listen at a later date is cool. I am happy with Mixcloud, by the way my ban with Twitch as now been lifted after a few months but as stayed with Mixcloud.

Even as things are opening up IRL, DJs have seen the value in streaming and will continue, just not as often as during the lockdown. I think once MixCloud adds features and the publishers start cracking down on Twitch, they will be well-positioned and would have benefitted from the streaming culture that Twitch helped promote. The key will be for them to innovate on the features that provide the content creators revenue opportunities. I think their biggest challenge in that regard will be that any revenue generated through the platform, (their "Bits" and "gift" equivalent) will still need to be shared with the artists and publishers. Providing easy plug-ins with third-party apps like Paypal, Venmo, Cash app, StreamLabs, buymecoffee, etc. might be the way around that.

i only live stream on twitch and thats going nowhere.I post my shows on Mixcloud but no live stream .Again going nowhere I cant share my Mixcloud posts to facebook.I dont know why but its been like that for months.I mix video so a live stream on an audio only site that i would have to pay for is not for me .Meanwhile my Twitch stream once its done gets partially muted, sometimes a lot sometimes a bit but that means very few watches and now not only does youtube block every show i post but im losing subs as i type.Djs mix and present recorded music in a creative way.All of these sites have had to deal with the issues that causes mostly to the detriment of the dj.

none of this makes money.I dont monetize my youtube because if i did than nothing would stay up and i already have two strikes.Sometimes i wonder why i bother.

Shits getting ridiculous bro. Pretty soon videos will get taken down cause you are using a hairstyle copywritten by an artist. Shits stupid, they should be thankful we are pushing their trash asa music.

Greed is affecting the music industry. The only way to play tracks is live at an event, family and friends. Streaming vs having tracks in your library??? Not one music pool has every track, not even top 40. The artist and the record companies are restricting the market.
DJs used to be the link between the artist/record company to get the new music out to the public. Not the case anymore.
Now they are switching to stream service that can’t be recorded without additional devices.

7 months later...still the same Mixcloud BS. Its a shame really. They could have been the primary go to place for people to watch Djs like Twitch is. A Primary music site that Twitch, a gamig site took over. Smh

so.. let me get this straight.. you don't mind seeing to it that the artist used in all you mixes and gigs that you profit from.. get paid too... bruh.. that is a trash perspective.. and your complaining about the money.. when your the highest paid person in that pyramid.. yeah ASCAP & BMI get 65% but they gotta split that between every artist in every mix you post.. for royalties.. and let me remind you "no music" nothing to mix.. which means no dj niche.. then 5% goes to the money merchants which provide a huge service.. with allot more overhead than people think about.. but without them you would not have the convince of sales.. i mean.. what would people do.. snail mail in cash?.. lmfao.. then mixcloud which provides the platform.. sends massive amounts of emails, notifications, hosting tons of media and a decent website.. which also has quite a bit of overhead.. and you're still the only one directly putting more in the pocket that anyone else.. even at .51 cents per $2.99 sub.. and yes.. uncle sam will take his.. but that's the case with everyone.. so yeah.. i understand what your saying about twitch putting more directly in your pocket.. but how can you consciously feel good about profiting from music.. when everyone else involved in the creation of the exact thing that make your job possible not get paid?.. id say thats scabbish as fuck.. and a disgrace to the music community..

Yeah so I have a problem with your take on this situation BUT I do agree Mixcloud has tons of work to do. My problem with your take is it is putting way to much emphasis on features. My problem with this it's a bit of a red herring. Twitch's features tend to addict the creators more so then the users. Twitch's greatest feature is hardly ever mentioned which is it's anonymity. There is plenty of market research to suggest not all of twitch's features even help out with the bottom line success of a channel (just google market research on their ad system or compare the share of income they take compared to other platforms). So my first post is we shouldn't judge Mixcloud by its lack of features. It's silly. It has a decent infrastructure but it does suffer from a different problem.

I used mixcloud but I get people that cash app me at least every time I go on stream I have one follower alone that tipped me $20 every time I go live which I use some of that to pay the $15 a month so I’ve been doing streaming for a year and nothing came out of pocket has been coming out of my tips
Yes you’re correct they have some bugs to fix especially Facebook notification that your live on there.
