Okay, Rajiv… I know you’ve already written a book. But can you write a book? 😆I’m imagining a gorgeous reference book with all of these neat things that you do, like using someone’s specific method to clean rugs,… getting in the mood for fall… how to embrace the risk of using nice things that might break…. Etc etc. I think your philosophical approach to everyday life would make a fabulous book. 🤓💚☕️. Thank you for another beautiful, practical lesson in life. 💚

Thanks to this channel, I started piano lessons at 60 years old. My brother started teaching me via zoom from South Africa in November 2020. We had 5 lessons (I am an absolutely beginner) and he needed to take a break that December for home renovations. We were going to resume lessons, on 20 January 2021. He passed away of the thing that was going around at the time, very unexpectedly. He was only 49. I could not go near a piano, it just made me cry so much. One year later, I found this channel and it touched my soul.

Rajiv I much prefer your new Kazak rug. I am a rug collector as well up here in Ottawa Ontario and I used to sell rugs and that’s a beauty. I know you have a storage space and you have your rugs rolled up but mice can get in and they love to burrow into rugs. Tyvek, the wrap that they use on houses is a breathable product. When mine are not in use I clean them as best I can, and then wrap them rolled up in Tyvek and seal it with tape. It doesn’t take much, but it keeps your rugs from getting munched. The larger rugs that I take to the local rug dealer does this for me if I’m not going to use it anytime soon. I had him do a very large serape and put it up in my garage in a storage space for eight years. I decided I should sell the rug got a hold of a dealer showed him a picture and said, would you buy the rug….. we made a deal for a price provided that when the rug was opened at his shop that it was in good condition. So after eight years of hot and cold, hot and cold weather when opened up, it smelled as fresh as a daisy and was beautiful.🇨🇦🙏

I live in a 4 season area, and look forward to Fall, when I change out my Summer bedding: smooth cotton sheets, lightweight quilts, to the Fall/Winter bedding: flannel sheets, feather mattress and 2 down comforters in duvets. I relish the changes, and as I live in a simple old Victorian-era home, I have to move bedding seasonally from storage to my linen chest, and back again. The Victorians had very small closets, so it's a bit of work to move all these, but I do enjoy welcoming the items I'd forgotten about over the prior months. It all feels new again.

I love that you show the reality of your space and changing your own space. It’s gotten old seeing design influencers who show the finished space (a candle without a wrap or a lamp already staged and plugged in, a rug change out - because *gasp* they’d never show themselves on the floor folding a rug) but you show personality and reality. If you’re ever in Taos, come visit! 😊

You are wonderful at expressing so many of the feelings we have but put aside for many reasons. Having any possession of a person we loved or love, that we can see and touch every day, matters. It matters a lot, and we take that strength with us throughout the day. It is part of the important stuff we don’t think about often enough.

When you talk about how fostering about those little moments of meaningfulness throughout the day is kind of like making a deposit in a bank account, there's such a wonderful insight there. I think that when many of us think about our own happiness, we tend to over-focus on big shifts in our circumstances as a prerequisite. We daydream about a new job or house or wardrobe or trip or whatever and think, "if and when I have that, well, then I'll *really* be happy" or "then I'll *really* be able to start living the life I want."
But just like building up a savings account - big deposits certainly don't hurt, but they just don't happen all that often. In the end it's all the little small deposits that will really make the difference. The metaphor extends further when we imagine what it might look like for us, when all those little happiness deposits start "compounding interest" and "paying dividends." I'm not normally very inspired by banking advice lol but there's such a kernel of wisdom in that analogy. Thanks Rajiv. :)

I learn something new every time I watch your channel! Who knew that woven coverlets had such beautiful names? For me it’s my quilt collection. Not huge by any stretch but the names…Tumbler, Wedding Ring, Sunburst, Nine Patch, and others convey a time where things weren’t mass produced. Carefully thought out and purposefully made. I even have a quilt made by my daughter in her high school sewing class that she took photos and preserved them into a unique keepsake. Your friend’s lamp is exquisite! What a warm glow! I needed this episode. With all the catastrophic flooding we had here in western NC, I wasn’t in the mood to decorate for fall. Kudos to you for putting in the work to clean that rug. Your arms must be very strong. I love candles as well and burn one every evening in my dining room to give a lovely scent throughout the downstairs areas. I also enjoy the ritual of making a nice bed and feeling of sliding into the sheets at night.

It is in the air today. I just washed all my windows and the screens and put up my winter curtains and a red silk duvet on the bed. And..a pull up bar(that isn’t necessarily seasonal, but it kind of is. Want to stay in shape this winter.)also stock up on beeswax pillars for the winter and i have dried hydrangeas too.😊

It’s always nice to see your vlogs. The dish you showed us at abt. 13:00 I’ve always heard referred to as a tazza and I believe that size they was often used as master salt cellars. I think using them for candles is a great idea. Your rug cleaned up beautifully!

I changed my curtains also for the Fall season and Winter season / I have thick wool curtains for my bedroom and I'll have to say it makes a difference when you switch out the summer season ones / if you get around to doing it you'll love the concept for each season it's wonderful 🍂🍂🍂

Hello! Your apartment is just lovely. I particularly like the black doors with brass hardware and the strong colours you have used, also dark timber and really interesting paintings. The tin lamp is gorgeous. Handmade things are so special. But a few years ago I bought a little pretend stove/fireplace with a little glass door and those pretend flames (foil turning on a rod hidden behind). It's not real but it's still charming and it gives off the most lovely atmosphere and light in the autumn and winter. It has really changed the mood of my home in the colder months. I love it. You are right about light, it's very important, especially in winter. Have a cosy and safe winter and thanks for your video.
