Yes!! I studied horticulture and found out that apparently eucalyptus was originally brought to America in the 1800s to be grown for the logging industry. The person that brought them saw them growing very straight and strong in Australia only to find out they don’t grow the same way in America because of the difference in hemispheres. They are also allelopathic! Very interesting plant!

I’m in my mid 30s and recently learned that I’m autistic; I think the reason I’ve loved Rajiv’s videos so much is because of the fine attention to detail. My brain doesn’t filter out things; I think in pictures and everything in my visual environment enters in with high detail. Learning how to edit and curate my environment keeps me from getting overwhelmed and burning out.

My husband and I live in a 1946 cottage in the mountains and it was a horrible mess when we bought it. The main bathroom was unuseable, so we remodeled the little 3/4 bath first while saving to do the main bathroom. We decided to put in a large claw foot tub instead of a shower when we finally remodeled it. I have fibromyalgia and my doctor was always recommending epsom salt baths. I have always been a shower person, but I decided to switch to baths to see if it helped me and I cannot say enough about having a bath. I too take my laptop in and watch a movie or show while soaking in the tub. I am also a soapmaker, so I make my own solid bubble bath bars, bath bombs and goat milk soaps. My pain goes way down after soaking in a hot epsom salt bath and my skin is so much softer from my bubble bars. I also now take the time to properly moisturize my skin after I get out of the bath. Yes, it takes me longer than showering, but I am 66 years old and have worked hard all my life and raised 4 daughters so I feel I can now spare an hour to care for myself. Had I been taking better care of myself all along, perhaps I wouldn't be in the shape I am in now. Ladies, make your hubbies watch those babies so you can take an hour to yourself. It will raise your spirits immensely and everyone will benefit as a result.

@@evelynmom2902 It surely is!! We had premature twins as our first children and so I got in the habit of putting myself last from the get go. I have taken care of everyone else first for my whole life and now I am struggling. I see now that it is not selfish to take time to care for yourself and wish I had done it sooner. Mom's are never off the clock so they need some extra time and TLC! The kids will survive for an hour without you. LOL!!! Best of luck to you and your lovely family!

Gaudy plastic shampoo bottles, neon toothbrushes, etc… I do my best to get rid of all of it, sometimes you can remove the stick on label and just have a lovely plain bottle and I found a beautiful crystal clear toothbrush on Amazon! Aaahhhhh…
It’s tempting to put a bunch of colorful “fun” things in the bathroom but if I stay disciplined and just stick to minimalism and neutrals, bathing becomes exquisite in a spa like atmosphere.
I also love a Japanese zen asthetic, with all those natural materials, textures and minimalism. Just beautiful and serene. Great video teaching others about this very special time we can give ourselves!

I appreciate any towel without that (Dobby / dobbin?) decorative strip across either end of the towel a few inches in from the end that always react differently to washing and drying than the rest of the towel. They always shrink more than the towel and ruin its look after one wash. I search towels that do not have that and I love them. The official “weight” of the cotton is important too the absorbency too. Get the heaviest you can.

@@kaioiamo1503 Exactly! I can’t stand it either. Why manufacture something that will immediately be less nice the very first time you wash it? I don’t get it. At least preshrink that dobby part. There are some towels where that part doesn’t shrink, so it’s being done sometimes, but you have no way of knowing before you spend the money. Irritating.

Whe you have a live-in partner, his teenage daughter, elderly family needing daycare, preschool nephew, and a lovely but shedding dog.... not everything can stay clutterfree and like a painting, but you do learn to see the beauty in their effects on the space and knowing you share it together as a home. That includes the hair left in the tub.
Some stuff stays out... but I do save brown bottles so they match and I put simple labels on them . For older individuals they have a caddy I can put away or set out with oversized labels.
A big part of having my alone time is making my now 5 yo nephew's alone time special too.
He gets curled up in his pillow corner with a favorite show, his stuffies, and some chocolate milk when I take my shower or bath. When he has his bath, it is bubbles, rotating toys to keep it new, and his favorite Raffi music, and I leave him alone for half of it while folding laundry in the next room. He learns together is great, but so is alone.

Y'all I have a handmade German bathbrush like that and I tell you, everyone needs one like that. Better than a loofa, a washcloth or any other tool. Not only is it great for exfoliating and really cleaning the skin but its also a very fun and fancy experience I look forward to

Wonderful video. Rajiv, I always learn something new when I watch you! Look forward to trying the eucalyptus in the shower. I have taken a bath every day for many many years. As a working mom it was heavenly. The babies would join me sometimes. But often that was the time my husband played with them and I got to relax. My sons are grown now. I light a candle with three wicks and during my bath I pray for each of my two sons and my husband as I gaze at the three candles and think about how grateful I am for each of my 'men'. Keep up the good work Rajiv. I am moving soon and will check into Brooklinen, since I will need new towels and bathmats.

That's so beautiful that you pray for your family gazing at a 3 wicked candle. Even a 4 wicked candle would be appropriate because that is the number of your family. When my mother died we chose 5 red roses alongside other greenery to symbolize my parents and their 3 children. It meant a lot to us. Bless you and your family.

Having a bath in an hour so this is great haha! Thanks Raj!
I had to add one note- I know that you are supporting Brooklinen in this vid, but I use turkish towels (which are 100% cotton or linen) and quite thin. They are AMAZING. They can also be used as throw or beach blankets. I will never go back lol. I feel like you may like them too.

Can you do a video on how to elegantly sort piles of papers (documents, personal keepsake letters & cards, etc.) while preserving sanity and not procrastinating the task? 💡📁🗂️

Bath hint. I used to make and sell organic bath/ body. Best tip my clients loved was this: I used soy to make container candles for baths [if it is all natural and body safe scents] after it has melted down, when you get out rub the warm melted wax on rough heels, elbows, etc and just let it absorb. It will soften up those dry spots better than anything you can find. Over time, I would add vitamin e, aloe, olive oil but it still worked the same. It just helps add to the experience and works great! Hope that helps someone. I also used the same recipe with more oil for lip balm and heals better than any chapstick you could buy. All those additives make your lips dependent on them for hydration. The lip balm I made, you used when your lips were chapped, put up and never had to use until something caused them to chap again. We joked you just keep it in your medicine cabinet instead of carrying everywhere with you. I grew up with a great grandmother who refused to buy anything because she would figure out how to make it. 😂

Hi Rajiv, I knew of the idea of eucaliptatas (I know, I didn't spell it correctly) in the shower. I tried it and although it looked good, I couldn't smell it. Now you have shown me that I need to bash it to release the fragrance. I live in Australia so it won't be difficult to find said leaves and it looks so pretty. Thank you Rajiv, you always inspire me.

Tackling the bathroom this week, thanks to you. First step completed just now: wrap and tie my bathrobe as flatteringly as you did here. Near as I can tell, you do a clove hitch on the sash? Anyway, that's what I just switched to, and fiddled a bit to get it just right -- works so much better and looks better too. The knot doesn't slip, and lays really nicely! I just ordered better laundry detergent and booster to bring my white towels back to bright. Fortunately, I switched to vintage ironstone bar soap holders way back when you posted about guests visiting maybe a year or more ago. They look so clean and appropriate with porcelain fixtures.

There is so much to do in the bath! I have a weekly bath and that's when I exfoliate and do a (no paint) manicure and pedicure on myself, smooth out calluses, do a face mask, a hair treatment... All with candles and a cup of tea and maybe a video as well.
