Gran Turismo 3 became the reason why I love the car so much. Watching this, the graphics have held up amazingly well and arguably contest everything that's released since then! And they REALLY wanted to accentuate the wonderful sound the car makes.
It's too bad that PD made the car inaccurate to it's real world counterpart. In GT3 and I think GT4 the cars wheelbase is way too short at 2548mm, the track F/R are too small at 1514mm/1475mm, and overall width is lessened at 1838mm. All these negatively impact the cars performance. In reality the Panoz Esperante GTR-1's chassis specs are... Wheelbase: 2687mm Width: 1981mm Track F/R: 1595mm/1554mm. Also depending on if the Esperante in game is the GT1 class or GT Prototype class the weight may be wrong as well. In real life the car weighed 1,150kg in some classes but in Prototype class is was 950kg. So there is a 50/50 chance that PD got the weight correct. Regardless the other chassis specs are wrong in a bad way shame on PD.
Not only the Eutechnyx version of Test Drive Le Mans (PSX and PC) has the GTR-1, but also both 1998 Le Mans liveries and the Q9 Hybrid which didn't manage to qualify for the race sadly, but the fact it got featured on that game is something.

Gran Turismo 3 gave the Panoz a classy shiny feel with it being the most expensive car, a unique choice for the American stars and stripes race, and almost like an underdog race car when up against the GT One by Toyota, the 787b by Mazda, and the Nissan GT LM race car (the Esperante as a bot car always was in like 5th or 6th place, with the vertigo, tickford, lister, and Camaro race cars, humorously enough). I think the purple one shown here is inspired by the hybrid esperante, which deviated from the unique chassis look, had more weight, and ultimately could not be as successful in racing. Panoz forever🏁🏁🏁
