The 2022 Gas Gas bikes have BrakeTec components, not Brembo. I have one. I can confirm that the 250 version doesn't have any classic 2T "hit" either. It's very linear, and super easy to ride. I have ridden both 300 and 250s. I had the option of either displacement, and I don't feel hindered by the lack of 50cc extra. I'd say buy whats available. Cheers.
Good insight here. My 2 stroke is the Beta X-Trainer and trying to understand the 2T world. Put the Smart Carb on it and love it so far. Another good vid..Keep it up!
Very interesting, thanks for for video. I haven't heard people describe the different between 250's and 300's that clearly before. I ride enduro but made the choice of 350 4 stroke. Good thing riding is mainly rider, so now I just have to get good. 🔥💪Wish me luck.
The 300 has more torque, low rev power is more punchy which is comforting in uphills or tight corners (But it can back fire.... its harder to ride smooth and corner exits are also more difficult) 250s have plenty of HP as you go up the revs, very lively engine. It may lack a little power in real steep hills but with good clutch control you wouldn't complain. It comes to your weight in my opinion. It you are 80kgs pounds and above get a 300. Less than 80kgs just go 250, level of riding shouldnt matter.
Nice review...I've got the '21 and have heard that there have been some ECU updates that richened up the delivery. Mine certainly is not rich, if anything it's a bit lean. Another comment I hear often when comparing the 250's to the 300's is that they prefer the 250 because of the 'livelier' power delivery. In my experience, stock settings I would agree...but, making a simple power valve adjustment completely transformed my bike. Throw the red spring in it and back out the adjuster a turn or two and hold on!
I agree. You can tune the EX300 to have that hard hit, but it's not something I prefer for enduro, single track style riding. I much prefer a more linear power delivery. On tracks, yeah, give me that power.
Interesting. I have two Yamaha WR 450’s and will be buying a new GasGas EC300 this spring. Can’t wait. Although one of my WR’s has a Rekluse, it’s still a struggle to arm wrestle out of the mud. Playful describes these 300 two strokes perfectly.
That bike does not sound like it's running right. I have the 2021 EC300 and it sounds nothing like that. It runs perfectly - very linear power from bottom to top and really loves to scream in high revs. The only complaint I have is that it is not as torquey low down as my previous carbed 300exc and needs to be clutched a lot more. But it seems that every one of these TPI bikes runs different, so I think I just got lucky. Edit: One thing to add is that my bike is not rich, but on the lean side from mid to top. In fact, I often hear a lean "cluck" every now and then when shutting off the throttle in those rev ranges.
with your riding ability and great vids I would love to hear you on a 300, KTM, Gas or Husky. Not a fan of that ding ding ding 250 sound, but still love your vids.
i have a EC250 and absolutely love the engine, chasis and overall feeling of the bike (Only complaint it front brake but its a small complaint... its weak, which sucks but its pretty safe, I would never lock up) Is the only diffrence from the EC and EX the head light? or is suspension also modified? If someone knows the diferences please let me know!
I was looking at a 300 yesterday on the sales floor and it looked like brembo components and the salesman stated they used different pads than KTM, is that true? Can that richness be addressed through mapping changes?
You mention more peeps prefer the black rims. Maybe so, but I think it's a fad, just like car rims these days. In my opinion this bike looks absolutely stunning with the silver rims. Old school vintage that sets off the rest of the color tones.
Yeah, the gas gas EX300 actually does have Brembo brakes. When somebody corrects me I assume they have done their research so I don’t usually question it too much. I double checked this time.

The EC's use BrakeTec, the EX's use Brembo.
Yes!
My EX has Brembo

I only just found out Brembo on the EX and the BrakeTec on EC

I might convert my 250 one of these days. They are easy to make into 300’s I hear!
@@RacerRed It's just a cylinder, piston and tuning. Same stroke between the two. The bike are identical outside of the cylinder and piston.

I was talking about this with someone. I think silver rims will come back after the black gets boring.
@@RacerRed Yes, totally agree. Same for the auto rims your seeing these days. Only good thing about black rims is you can't see the dirt. 🤣
Not Brembo..Braketec...a rather big slip up there dude...
The EX300 has Brembo, EC300 has Braketec

@@RacerRed I just bought a '22 EX300 today so I wanted to correct the correction as you were right on the vid! 😁
Done 👌 do done lo 🥰
