If you are into sailing yachts, you’ve probably heard about the Sailing Yacht A project. This is a superyacht built by Nobiskrug shipyard in Germany. The vessel in one of a kind, you won’t find another yacht like this in the world. It reportedly cost $600 million back in 2015 and it was the most complicated project in the sailing yacht building industry.
Nobiskrug couldn’t produce all the parts of the superyacht without contractors from all over the world. The company partnered with numerous European and American businesses to provide unique sail supported yacht that is extremely big, absolutely unique and incredibly expensive. Sailing Yacht A belongs to a Russian billionaire, Andrey Melnichenko.
Nobiskrug announced the new project in 2015 and delivered the yacht in 2017. Right after it left the Nobiskrug’s shipyard in Kiel, Germany, the boat was named the boundary pushing superyacht by Boat International. During final tests the yacht crossed Baltic Sea with nearly empty fuel tanks using mainly wind power.

Now it's 'safely docked' in Triest in northern Italy if you want to spot it. It's confiscated becuase of the wat in Ukraine. The thing is it's docked pretty far from land and if you take a look with zoom or binoculars it seems to have only 2 masts (first one is missing). However ship radar shows this location as SY A so it's probably that one. I'm pretty sure I was seen it also 2 years ago near La Madallena near Sardigne.
I went from Slovenian Koper by boat to Trieste and its still there in all its glory. We were circiling it 30 or so meters from it and its as magnificant as it is described here. Some people are on board i think its Italian police just chillin securin.
unless it can be sold to someone it's basically only worth the scrap metal

I saw this when I lived on the Isle of Man and it changed colour. From brilliant white it turned to dark grey ! I have a recording of this ombré effect happening . I think there is more to this yacht than pleasure cruising

I saw the yacht in Saranda, Albania, pictured at 2:13 in the video, when I went there for vacation. The Russian owner and his girlfriend/wife, very normal people, sat at the restaurant without escorts or bodyguards. You can't tell how huge this yacht is unless you see it in person.
Maybe the oven was broken on the yacht so they had to eat in a restaurant.

I saw this with my eyes this summer on the cost of Trieste, Italy where it was impounded.. Looking at this thing from a huge church on a peak in the city outskirts, this *MONSTER* was bigger than the ENTIRE BAY! It looked bigger than a giant cruise ship, the metal exterior looked like something alien and was literally messing with my brain..

Saw 'A' several years ago during the COVID panic, docked in Virgin Gorda. It was at a private pier facing Tortola. Its AIS was off.

Yesterday (Friday, 11th of March 2022) the yacht was sized by Italian tax police. Like, to make sure that "the owner is not going to rent it or sell it within the FORESEEABLE time", I suppose?

It is not arrested. It fled to Dubai to avoid sanctions. Should it leave Dubai, it will be arrested. M/Y A is arrested.

Amazing but very weird that a luxury sailing vessel has such limited views of the ocean. The huge forward lounge deck complete with swimming pool is totally walled in - not much use for watching the Monaco GP from!
Windows are there if you can see.

Alltho I like those ship too like black pearl, there is really no comparison.. Like this ship can sail but it's so much more, very big & much luxury, high tech etc, those ships you mention aren't close to all that.

Some things were right, but a lot wring. The sub thing for sure. And the capsule for underwater is literally just a shallow dip in the hull that extends 2.5 feet underwater. It is currently in Dubai, unflagged and sanctioned

U can all bitch but I think it's beautiful. Wonder how much money u must have to not only buy it, but run it. If u need 54 people to sail it, is that including the maids and cooks? Or just to basically sail?
That includes all staff, not just the sailing crew.
A ship like that, I think u could almost find free personel :) but ofc the maintaining cost of the ship itself like fuel etc, is quickly millions, but not too much for one that can afford this fun kind of toy.

This is the most ugly and rejecting yacht I have ever seen🤮! I saw it a few years ago at the Côte d'Azur and it looked like a nightmare in steel. It's just disgusting!

The Yacht is a "one of a kind" type, rather like Russia. It would have been far more noble of the owner to pay tax and sail around in an Oyster than act like Mr Golden balls who is above the law. Then again if your mates with Vladimir...........who cares!!!!

The design is beyond ugly and obnoxiously tasteless, takes a crew of 54 to sail, and costs the same as a fleet of 120 ft "J" class yachts. Showing the world yet again how useless the rich are at spending their extorted great wealth.
