This was my go-to crying song in grade 5, I thought the lyrics were “I’ll be just fine pretending I’m nine” and I was like “Bro, I’m 9, this guy gets me.”
🤣🤣🤣
That's hilarious
That’s amazing 😂
This is great 😂
Haha hahahahahahaha
I really don't know why emo gets so much hate. All it is is musicians that relate to a lot of mental illnesses and writing songs about it. This type of music has probably saved more lives than any other genre.
Well I guess a lot of people don't like it because some think the emo lifestyle almost sort of praises the self pity and the feelings of depression. As if its kind of an example of how to life, rather than trying to life with it. And without really trying to deal with the problem, it sort of embraces it in a way which I also think could be harmfull to teens that go through a lot in their lifes. Especially if you think about how vulnerable and influenceable you are at such a young age. I used to be interested in emo stuff as well, but I'm actually glad I'm over it.
Studies show that teens feel better listening to more angsty and yelling type songs then pretending to be happy while singing along to happy sunshiny songs.
@@jujufeirrieo2836 That's true! I absolutely agree with that. It's never a good thing to ignore sad or depressed feelings. I just said that some people can also take it too far by completely drown in their sadness and self pity without trying to cope with it. Especially at a younger age it's hard not to get carried away and not let those emotions take control. But no, of course never ignore them
Actually, Ska music saved my life.
Locked in Vacancy - Forty Ounces.
Because it sounds bratty, cutesy, and insincere.
Turns out it really wasn’t a phase mom

Anyone else having a ‘feels’ day today?

Having a 'feels' month ATM, feels like everything is closing in
"emo" stereotypes aside, musically a lot of these bands, including The Used were very talented and made great rock.
Agreed
Agreed they are underrated
patrick miller here here !!
Bands like this, TBS and other are pink emo my man! White belt stretched ears and vans warped tour
So much this. Was in 5-7th grade during this era. Always remember my dad letting me play my cds in the car when we went places. He was a classic rock buff and as much as he hated to admit it, he loved my emo rock!!!
I brought myself here. I'm amazing.
+Unluckyme damn right you are ;)

+Unluckyme yes he is

Fuuuuse. Remembering the Steven's Untitled Rock Show days. Senses Fail would come on, the used, MCR, Thursday, Atreyu, the red jumpsuit apparatus, underoath.. miss those days.
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me
Off guard, red-handed
Now I'm far from lonely
Asleep I still see you lying next to me
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me I
I need something else
Would someone please just give me
Hit me, knock me out
And let me go back to sleep
I can laugh
All I want inside I still am empty
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me I
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I guess, I remember every glance you shot me
Unharmed, I'm losing weight and some body heat
I squoze so hard
I stopped your heart from beating
So deep that I didn't even scream fuck me, I
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
And it's all that I've got
Yeah, it's all that I've got
It's all that I've got
It's all that I've got
It's all that I've got!
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me
So deep that I didn't even scream fuck me
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
And it's all that I've got
Yeah, it's all that I've got

lol'dd 😂
Same lol 😅😒

Everyone seems to be like "aww high school memories. I used to love these guys". I'm in high school, and it sounds like everyone grew out of these kind of bands, whyyy?!?
Because these bands kept us alive during a dark period of our lives. Now they are just good memories we can visit from time to time.
+finley simpkins Justin bieber
+finley simpkins Yea... it fucking sucks I live in Michigan (High school currently) and the new popular is shitty repetitive rap music that you can barley understand that has next to no meaning except getting high or having sex, what ever happened to when you didn't have to do shit like that to be cool.
+Remover Checker Decker That's pretty much what it was like growing up to this music. You'd have the normal Jocks and Preppy kids, but then there were the "alternative" kids who wore plaid, skinny jeans, converse, had piercings etc. They were very much the subculture, much like today. In fact, I remember getting bullied heavily for listening to and learning to play this sort of music. Hip-hop was still the main genre then, things haven't changed that much.
+Tj Stickland The school district I was in was mainly alternative back in the day
Me - hypnotized through the video by Jepha's fancy footwork back there 😵
I remember being just 9 years old listening to this on MTV. That's when they played music videos for like an hour a day.
ahhh yes. That's when i used to watch all these videos. And then MTV took it off smh.
I remember when I was 9 all they ever played pretty much was music, and music related stuff........
Dylan Frank Yup
They'd play music videos after I'd come home from school, but then they stopped it
I remember when they played music pretty much all day hahaha
A Hot Topic employee told me to check out this band. Thanks, dude, this is dope!
These guys have been amazing since I was a teen haha
You are an amazing human, and I love you.
Thank you hot topic employee, we need more like him.
Omg HOt ToPiC
People still shop there?
A couple years ago I fell head over heels for this unattainable guy and I was like, why can't I stop feeling this? Then one day I re-watched an old Used video and realized... this guy looked exactly like Bert McCracken (my first celebrity crush). Blew my mind! Then I burst out laughing
I like it
My god this takes me back. The Emp genre and mid 2000s will forever have a special place in my heart.
Bert wrote this song about his dog that passed away. I listened to this song over and over again when my little guy passed last year. My kitty died yesterday, and I once again find myself stuck in the loop of this song.
O
I’m now 15 and I think my phase is in the wrong era... Ive been on a journey through 2000s rock for a year now and I’m not stopping in the near future
Sameeeeeeeeeeee
These will be memories to older generations. New to younger generations. But they’ll always be valuable treasures that everyone could cherish. Enjoy this music and allow it to get through hard times in your life, as it did for us. Keep your head up, and keep exploring in music:)
Enjoy being young!!! Just think you would almost be 30 like me if you wanted to grow up with this music. I would give anything to be 15 again!
Im 30 and this comment gives me so much hope for the future generations. Rock on little bro, rock on ❤
As a 29 year old, trust me be glad you didn't live through the 00s as a teen. It was the cringiest decade of them all. This music is a lot cooler out of context, believe me. I still can smell the scents of everyone's fried-to-death emo hair and the putrid smell of their infected snake bites.
my cousin is in his 20s, he grew up with this music, he just got out of jail when i met him for the first time and we found out that we both shared a love for fall out boy, my chemical romance, and lil peep. He showed me this song and other songs by the used. He just relapsed on drugs, whenever i listened to the used i think of him, i really really hope he's alright.
My mom listens to this band religiously. I grew up listening to her listen to this kind of music, and honestly, it goes hard
That's going to be me as a mom lol
Your mom? what is she 30? she have you at 16?
@@tennisjiujitsu She's actually 36 and had me at 18
@@anxiousowlet your mom is a survivor boi, be with her all the time you can.
Nostalgia from playing saints row 2 long time ago. Good times.
what an amazing game. i like 3 and 4 but 2 will always be the best
Same
All of Gen X was awesome not one bad song
thats where the nostalgia is coming from
One of the few songs ever with a great video.
My uncle showed this to me and now I'm in love, (Btw is anyone here from 2019?)
Yes, we’re still here.
Alex is a wonderful name i hope you have a awesome emo time!
I'll always be here for the used!
Just like wine and my lntellect improving, over da yeers .
Of course
This video was light years ahead of its time. One of my all time favorite bands 🫶🏽
This is so good but you must hear “The Wave” or “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🤘🎶🔥🎶🤘
"i see you lying next to me"
I AM NOT AFRAID TO KEEP ON LIVING
This came first.
:O
Omg I remember being in my freshman year of highschool listening to this song as I walked through the halls alone. Music got me through highschool, this was my favorite song. Jeph Howard
music video directed by Tim Burton
Al5oha Chavez was it actually directed by tim burton? because i could see that lol
aloha chavez Glad I wasn't the only one that thought this
LOL. Gold.
It was directed by Marc webb the one that made 500 days of summer and The amazing spiderman franchise

This is so good but you must hear “City” by SLT 🤘🏙️🤘
This music video is top tier
Right, I always thought hat when watching at 15 and now I’m like holy hell lmao
Anyone else happily stumble upon this during quarantine? It instantly takes me back to being 16! 😍
This album was released ten years ago, but it feel like it was just yesterday. Oh time, why must you make us so old?
Until I knew the lyrics sometime last year, I genuinely used to think it sung out: "I'll be just fine, pretending I'm yours, I'm far from lonely, and it's all that I've got." And I refuse to believe it the way it is actually written, because I carried my own version of the song my whole life, and it just adds so much more sentiment and heartbreak for me.
Was 12 when this out. I am now in my late twenties. Jesus Christ dude.
Just turned 21. I've been listening since I was 15. Drunk af on my 21st b-day and just so happy that this beautiful sound is with me. The used will always be on my heart
13 years and i still vibe so hard with The Used. Its a forever thing
🙌🙌
I have a heart, bruised and stitched together with ",I'm far from lonely" tattooed on my hip. Will always love The Used.
I still fangirl over this video like its my first time seeing it and it been like 6 years since I first saw it.
Awesome band and they're even better live. I felt old when they played this for the "old school fans" lol
Hi
This was my high school man hahahah 😢 remember the good times
Yeeesss!
melissa morgan You used to listen to this too? But but... You look cool af 😨
***** This song was my childhood.
MarissaMacMarissa Hard to forget ,brings back so many memories
Yess! I remember being the "uncool" kid liking them, then a year later, who was the hottest band around...of course!
The imagery in this video is what converted me to 100% emo when I was 16 in 2006
They’re amazing no doubt. Each and every one of them. That drummer has a super captivating style to his playing not just how it sounds but visually. All around Dank
Am i the only one who thinks Bert looks really pretty in this video? To me he looks really beautiful in a completely innocent way
Saw these guys at PointFest. Never heard of them then.
Now, a year later as of May 23rd, I'm in love. I was so happy at the arcades there was Pretty Handsome Awkward in there.
What a beautiful story this was and will always be for us
I will see you in When We We’re Young Festival 💕
It's amazing how a song can bring back so many emotions.
I remember hearing this song played in Saints Row 2 when I was 8. I'm 21 now
Takes me back to coming home from school and straight on Kerrang and Scuzz music channels and finding them through there. I saw them last month play in love and death album and they are so amazing! Everyone was a teenager again singing their hearts out. Amazing band
nbb
U actually described me doing the same thing when i was 14 😂
I'm the same, although I was only 8. Kerrang and Scuzz were awesome.
Put my sister on and she's 4. Mission accomplished for sure!
This song gives me so much nostalgia it’s illegal.
This video is a masterpiece. Incredible concept and the way it was carried out.
I agree. My favorite music video of all time
Absolutely agree. I spent years as a teenager (now 32) trying to find this video because it had stuck in my head but I didn’t remember the band or the song name only the video. It affected me deeply. Back in the day so much thought went into music and videos. To this day gives me goosebumps every time watch it ❤️
This was one of my favorite albums in high school, when music videos were still good.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘
Still the BEST VIDEO/SONG from them in my opinion. I love Branden
Still rockin this in 2023 ❤️
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘
This song saved my life in one of my darkest time
I’m glad you’re still here with us 🖤
Reminds me of the good ol days.
12/2/2019 and I still get chills, and still listen on a daily basis, like this if you are too 💖
10 Years later I picked up the guitar and tried to learn these songs only to realize just how skilled these guys were coming up with all of these melodies and being genuine.
I'm really glad I grew up a teenager during the emo scene.
I remember listening to this song on repeat for hours, day after day, haha
20yrs late I am still coming back to the story. From the day I heard this in high school to now in my mid 30s. I feel the cycles of life and this song always makes me cry, brining me back to the beginning 🥲
This is so good but you must hear “The Wave” or “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🐺🐺🔥🤘🤘
Okay I have a question/observation. I don't know if this is the most appropriate place to put this, but since I thought of it while watching this video, I will put it here.
It seems like this phase of music was the last time that a form of "rock music" has swept teenagers and a craze developed. I am going to call it "emo", because that is what my friends and I called it at the time, and I don't know how else to refer to it, so no offense to anyone. It started up in 2004, and peaked in '05, '06, and '07, and then declined in '08, until it was pretty much over in '09. I was thirteen when it started, and about seventeen when my peers grew out of it. I had a few friends who were into this style.
Would you agree that this type of music was the last time that a form of rock music was very mainstream, to the point that tons of kids dressed so similarly that they could be identified as "emo"? I look back and this style of music was a cultural phenomenon. Tons of people loved it, tons of people hated it. To me, this was the last time period where a form or "rock music" had any real cultural significance. I'm 23, and I don't watch MTV like I once did, so I don't know if I'm right, or if I'm really just that out of the loop.
At the time I wasn't fond of this stuff, but maybe nostalgia is causing me to realize that some of these songs, including this one, are pretty damn good. I'd love to hear you guys' opinions.
Deff agree with you!! In 2004 i was 14 and so on, im 24 now and all this music takes me back to when there were no worries at all just fun and friends!!!:)
I'm 14 and am considered "emo" because I wear all black and the used is my favorite band
...Just ignore the labels.
i grow up with this shit too im 21 and cant stand any of the new rock coming out i think cage the elephant was the last band that was actually good. I dont know but rock will come back with a force
2 points for ur observational skills. its just the music today(all of it, not just emo) is all shit for the most part. we used to buy albums and now we download singles.
I really loved the artwork for this album
I liked it so much I drew it in my middle school art class and my art teacher had the audacity to say Upside down butts lol
32 and still listening heavily, in love & death was a album Close to my heart
Essa é a minha música favorita ever!! Forever
Sempre, Banda top demais Julia, Abraço Ale Fica com Deus...
Song still hits home for me.
the best video to any song ever period and one of the best songs too…. only surpassed by themselves
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf “ or “The Wave Acoustic” by SLT 🤘🐺🎧🐺🤘
The Used will forever be great ❤️
Played saints row 2 for the first time in ages today, and some awesome, i mean awesome songs came on the car radio, like way better than you get in any other games nowadays. This kind of music was effectively "modern" rock right? The kind of stuff that peaked from 2004-2007. Groups like Rise against, Sum 41, The Used, etc. This kind of rock was the last that has been seen for a while in mainstream society, and it's been gone for around 8 years. This means rock is dying out of today's generation, and possibly one of the best eras of rock died out in only the space of 3-4 years. It's quite sad really, to think that the main source of our music for the next 20+ years will likely consist of one genre (whatever that even is at this stage) and musical diversity will slowly collapse... BRING BACK ROCK MUSIC! We need Rock genre number ones and rock groups featured on MTV more often! More publicity, and most importantly, more groups need to form! Rock definitely earned the respect of our society for many more years to come, all we need is a kickstart in our modern society
Gen X, lol hell yeah! \^o^
lol, first time I heard the song too. I've gotten a lot of music from those games.
♫♪♫ Bounce like my checks baby back in the day, before I got this paper, before I got paid. ♫♪♫
RuneCraftPC Honestly, that was one of the parts about SR2 that really made me enjoy the game.
There are still plenty of people that actively listen to and support rock, but we're not the majority. Being a high school student myself, I'd say a good ~80% of our demographic strictly listens to rap/ hip hop, and that other 20% is kind of scattered, but we're here. Honestly if I didn't have an older brother, I probably wouldn't have the musical taste I have, I'm fucking glad I do have one though lol
you're right, rock nowadays its all about british beatles cover indie bands, sad :(
i mean mainstream rock
Still think this Video is a masterpiece. And The Used is such a lovely band live. Those were the good days.
Ah..... the memories 😭🥰
Me too. Really miss those times ♥
Jasmina Juric maybe there is a chance they’ll reunite just like My Chemical Romance? I sure damn hope so! I miss the videos (with artistic notes) and the music that actually had meaning.
My colleague played this at work today & it immediately brought me back. It’s amazing how music does that. The power of music, man!

The days 😔😔
Guys stop comparing "I write sins not tragedies" and "All that I've got". They are from two different bands, they are two different songs, and two different music videos the only thing they have in common with one another is the gothic/Victorian style outfitting of their respective lead vocals. Honestly guys, just because they have similar clothes doesn't mean they are one in the same, doesn't mean they copy cated, it only means it's a popular style choice among bands like themselves at such a point in their musical development.
Heard this song 10 years ago JUST NOW found out this song is dedicated to a dog who passed away and now my shirt is soaked with my tears :(
2019 still love this band they're beyond amazing.
I just heard this while playing Saints Row 2 and I got instant nostalgia of when I was like 9 playing it.
I love this video. I remember back in highschool I had posted this video on my Myspace page ❤

SAINTS ROWWWW 2 FOREVER!!!!
Emo comes from the fact that sometimes in our Life darkness needs to teach us what we aren't able to see, in this case, loneliness as a master. A teacher that shows us that if you waste your life in your solitude there's no turning back💙
video starts at 0:28 thank me later
Is now a good time to thank you?
The homies and I used to sing this back in middle school, when we were on the corner slanging silly bandz to all the hot girls that would pass. What a time that was.

Even in 2020 this still slaps. If any year necessitated bringing emo music back, this is it
