Man, this game just has no direct competition. Like, I keep coming back cuz I can't get that itch that For Honor just gives you when the stars align, you know? The drip and customization, the gank survivals, etc.
I just hope that whenever the game does kick the bucket that somebody tries to pick up the style of game.

Gonna be real with you, the fact that Ubisoft forgot For Honor even exists is the only reason it's improved. The moment Ubisoft remembers they'll either axe the game entirely or replace steel with a premium currency that you can only purchase with real money.

Yea nah... reason he noticed roach was overperforming is cause all comp players banned him in matches where that was possible and all ranked in like 2 tiers above all other heroes in their lists. To quote JC "We noticed that people were putting roach like way way higher than other characters in like his own tier". I have fun, and I find it relaxing. Unironically.
I'll explain how: I treat it exclusively as a co-op PVE game. I have never played PVP and I have no intention of starting now.
Playing PVAI isn't particuarly 'hard' but the combat is unique and is still way more engaging than most other games out there. There's simply no other game out there that scratches the same itch, and even after all these years I still have fun when I come back to it.
I'm well aware that that's about as 'filthy casual' as it gets, but I'm having fun, I enjoy the sick knight drip, and I rarely if ever have the urge to throw my controller against the wall.
You're definitely winning when it comes to enjoying the game lmao I haven't really played against AI since I first played the story mode but I might jump into an AI lobby to cool off between PvP games
But if you dont look for the challenge in a game like this, why not play chiv2? Its way more casual combat and doesnt challenge you same as playing fh pve
Not trying to turn you away or anything from the game but you get like 40% the reward of playing matches than vs players. Same goes for arcade. AI lobbies just dont respect your valuable time at all

@abiker98 We have different definitions of 'value of time' I guess. I play video games to unwind and have fun, so the value for me is in the gameplay itself. The rate that I earn xp/cosmetics/steel/etc. is an entirely secondary concern at least for me.
Chivalry 2 also has no meaningful PVAI mode (at least last time I played it). So while it might not be as sweaty as For Honor PVP, you're still 'forced' to play against other players. It's not a bad game, but it doesn't scratch the same itch as FH for me.

I like how there’s still a tip in the loading screens that says “most heroes can feint heavy attacks” as to say everyone but Conq but now Conq can feint his heavies too so the tip is pointless

That was the good conq, ever since they reworked him I unistalled the game, they literally made him pointless, he was the most unique and fun hero of the entire game, now they literally have a bash, dodge attack, HP, and unblockable attacks to any fkn character and it is fkn bad, it is literally the same sh1t with any hero you play…
I still forget conq can now faint. 6ish years without it and now my brain just refuses to accept it.

I would honestly like single pick, I’m a variety player, but the leaver issue is so bad I don’t want that to make it worse… you’re just chilling in character select, you pick JJ cause you haven’t played him in a while, and suddenly two rep 80 JJs just left cause they can’t play their hero that doesn’t get XP anymore.
I don't think one-tricks are common enough for this to be a problem. I used to one-trick Kensei on console, played nothing but Kens til rep 70, and if single pick was a thing I'd be fine with it. I'd just instalock faster, and if I didn't I probably just wouldn't have one tricked so hard, or I'd just leave and play something else.
You'd still see way less leavers in your games because now people wouldn't be leaving because there is multiple bullshit heroes on the enemy team.
The only way I see single-pick failing is when a new hero releases. This is objectively where Ubi makes their money, so if there can only be 2 per game, I feel like a lot of people wouldn't bother buying them and just wait the 2 weeks. This is absolutely a good thing for making the game fun, but I don't think the game can survive a financial hit like that.
Single pick would stop people playing how thay want and stop them leveling up one hero and so on all to but a bandage over a gaping wound...
Balanced heroes that's what needs addressing.
But top tier players are making videos trying to force the game to suit just them.
If ubisoft added Single pick we'd be seeing the last days of for honor.
I loved the concept of combat in For Honor so much and had a good time playing it for a couple years with my bestie, but it was also driving us both a little crazy and the toxicity in the game made us feel like it was making us worse people. he eventually managed to quit the game, and a month or so later, I managed to as well. I really wish this game was better done and maintained but so little love was put into it. haven't played in years, but clicked this video out of interest in if things haven't gotten better. doesn't sound like it. sometimes I miss all the good times I had, but I know for every moment of satisfaction or joy there were 10 more of frustration and rage. I wish everyone still playing this game the best and I hope you find things that bring you joy

This game is one of my favorite it hurts to force yourself through some matches but I like the gameplay so much I relate with the trying so hard to win in dominion when people leave it doesn’t feel worth it sometimes but there are some good matches I wish Ubisoft cared

Yo be honest I never really uninstalled For Honor, sure i took some time off the game but that was because my ps plus expired, now that I have it on pc i always come back to it after a break, even if it’s infuriating. I’ve played this game for a long time and now it has a special place in my soul.
Unironicly playing this game for more than 4 years now and still loving it.
A hella deep fighting style in every charactor and constantly improving and learning new techs and new things to improve my combat.
Now with the balancing of the feats I think For Honor is at its peak right now.
I always loved fighting games like smash bros, brawlhalla, streetfighter and such.
But I love how in For Honor u dont rage as much and imidiently know why u died and what u have to adjust urself to.
Everything else is mostly skill issue.
Most healthy fighting game in my humble opinion.
Thats also why I dont understand most of the hate here.
I agreed fully. If you are in 4v4 like breach and you get ganged and they actually respect your 1v1 and just wait for you to finish fighting that's pure gold.
On the techniques I'm still fresh and like you said you just want to improve constantly.

I have played this game since launch loved it so much put in almost 100 days in and now in 2024? I pick it up and drop it again and again having fun and just not caring if i dc. ive seen this game from what it feels like start and probably near its death to. its slowly dying with the hardcore fans picking it up every once in a while and dropping it after a few matches. But i just hope that this type of game continues on or lives on in a new game.

Man, I just recently got into this game. I love and hate it, I suck too. But, consistently waiting 2 and a half minutes to get into a match, then joining an already running match (usually losing), sucks ass. I hate how long it’s going to take me to get good with the classes I like, not to mention unlocking the fashions I want. Going up against 400 rep people with my 0 rep character feels absolutely tragic. Not knowing how to counter certain classes, to the point I NEVER land a single hit…I want to love this game so badly, I just can’t get past playing 4or 5 matches before I’m so frustrated that I have no desire to keep playing. Not to mention all the hate I get for not being good at the game….makes me just not want to even play because everyone seems so sweaty
as I usually tell people, never worry about the reps. thats just how much time they have on the character. you train hard enough and you can beat anyone! all it takes is some time. ive fought rep 1000's that got absolutely boinked. you can do it too!
I play pirate cuz it’s funny how when people run up with swords then I can pretty much do that clip from Indiana jhones where he just shoots them instead of sword fighting 💀

I've been playing this game since the closed beta. Not even the open one, the closed one. I would play it on and off until the Core Combat Update... to me, that was a clear indication the gameplay was shifting from a tactical game of mix-ups and feints, with parry and deflect timings being much easier to perform you had to think about what to throw... to what it is today, a spamfest with 25/25/25/25 bashes that take off half your health if you guess wrong, and are unreactable.
That, and they never gave my main PK the love she deserves!!

I just met like the nicest dudes in brawls, we rematched a few times and literally just joined a party and immediately vibed. Guess what, they were shinobi and kyoshin mains, the most toxic characters (besides roach).
There still are good people to befriend in this game.
The game is still terribly balanced though because their favourite weeb characters have to be strong (the devs can't win their games if they aren't) and the actually cool characters have to be ass. Like the devs aren't even trying to hide their anime obsession in the game, IT'S BEEN WRITTEN INTO THE ACTUAL LORE SONCE KYOSHIN RELEASED AND NOW THEY BASED A WHOLE CHARACTER ON IT, COMPLETE WITH EVEN EDGIER SCREAMED VOICELINES THAN EVER BEFORE.
Conclusion: the game has a tiny bit of cool people left and the devs are stinky
What hurts me the most about the state of this game is I met my 2 best friends on for honor and even met them in real life and have hung out with them at movies n shit often. This game brought us together and now…can’t even stay in a game anymore 😅
I played this game non-stop from 2017-2019. I quit due to burnout and my entire friend group no longer playing the game anymore. I, admittedly, wasn’t really having fun anymore either.
Fast forward 5 years and I learned one of my new friends picked the game up a few months ago and has been playing with some friends. For old times sake I decided to load it up and honestly… I love it. I forgot how much I just missed playing the game. It’s certainly not in the greatest state - I’m sure - but it’s been fun learning the 5 years of changes they’ve made.
Hopefully they manage to save this game as I feel like I might not have much time with the game left and I’m regretting not having gone back to it sooner 😢
Pretty much exact same time frame as you. Uninstalled right around when Jorm was released, reinstalled yesterday. I have a feeling this honeymoon period is gonna end again as soon as I start getting lag spikes and light spammed lol
Every character needs their own set of unique feats, I miss wardens anti bleed! It was OP as a passive but make it a bleed cleanse every 1 minute?! Idk more stuff that is unique would be so nice
I never understood the current pirate hate. You just light them on walk the plank and (depending on character) dodge attack them when then go for the heavy whiff grab. I should know, works on me alot lol.
Don't want to nerd out but the core combat update was in august of 2020, what suddenly got a player spike in august 2018 was that it went free to keep so a bunch of players hopped on.

No way, let's wait for For Honor 2 to come out to recover the old glory of the game. I am a lawbringer rep 80 and I really appreciate the hyper of the second heavy. But God, there was no need to kill a character like that, I know this has already been said a thousand and one times but I fear for the characters that have not yet been reworked as a centurion, which to this day is still fun to play. The rest of the community's shortcomings, such as hating you just for being good or not giving you the opportunity to defend yourself (gank 100 to 0) Or literally fighting 3 enemies for 1 minute to die and realizing that your other 3 teammates were giving revenge to the 4th enemy all the time instead of clearing points. The game still amuses me, it has that something that makes me want to play it (addiction), but seriously it is a unique game. The only future I see for it is a sequel that is equally good or superior (most likely superior) because, realistically, it is impossible for the game to improve at this point.

Solution to reset the playerbase: Remove any and all feints. Only leave transitioning into other attacks. No more BS pirouetting around from character where they cancel dodge into attack into GB so fast the fuckin display cant even keep up with it, which SHOULD be the indicator what you need to react to, instead of memorizing 2000 hours of videos from every single character what milisecond they are counter-able. The powercreep is insane, every new character has 50-50-50-50 cancellable into whatever the hell they want. Remove that bullshit, you'll have an okay game.

The correct way to play warmommy is making sure you have good fashion for 30 minutes, play a match, forget you have feats 90% of the game, win a random 1v4 because you accidentally pressed the button for the 4th feat

I've been For Honor clean for about two years now and I like to check on it every once and a while to reassure myself that I made the right decision
My brother has been playing this game almost daily since it's launch and he rages in bot games just as much against other players. And he's played against bots for 90% of the time he's played the game. That's by far the extent of what I've seen how For Honor can change someone.
6 Times un-installed. I remember being excited to hear of For Honor coming out of basic and when seeing it playing through a barracks window going and making friends trying to get a glance at it. Became a Lawbringer main out the gate for the first few years and then the fun ended.
I've given up on the game getting better when moves were implemented to make the game more fun and interesting for high-ceiling players but torture for Mid-Tier players like me. And yet I persist...
just came back to the game, last time i played was in 2019. I am having fun so far, mostly playing duels trying to learn the how to deal with the new characters but am sad to see that hitokiri is still in the game ☹

I recently got back into the game and from my experience, its purely because people don't really approach this game like a fighting game (at least in my experience, I only play duels). People are so quick to say certain characters are cheese, cheating, lame, etc, when most of the time its a skill issue and they just suck. There's a huge, huge complaining issue amongst the community whereby nobody wants to adapt. People just want to get quick ego wins, and if their quick wins are taken from them they take it personally. Nobody wants to play neutral, and if you win its just cheese, if you lose you got cheesed.

yesterday i installed the game just to delete it 3 games later. And during these 3 games i felt a discomfort that not any other game i played in the last 2 years, where i didnt touch for honor, has made me feel. Not even Battlefield 2042 in season 1 made me hate it so much as this game did 3 games in. Deleted it when i was having a 1v1 against some dude and a Sohei with 6 souls came up from behind me to one shot me.
All in all, I've uninstalled the game 3 times to installe it again because I damn love this game. Unfortunately, I feel like SolidSol too. I'm permanently tryharding just because my teamates left and when I try to have fun, I'm ganked by everyone and get insulted by my team. But anyway I don't care about what my teamates can say about me when they leave 3/4 times. Just for example, yesterday, on breach, for 8 games, 7 times all my teamates left leaving me alone before the second gate broke. Well, I love this game, but I confess time is not helping it.
Coming back to this game after finally getting decent PC feels like everything is so fast, I'm impressed I can at least block light attacks. You people that can parry light attacks like it's just a normal fart are some kind of specimen

I missed this game, I always watch videos thinking one day I will return but never do I actually. I was there for the beta and at launch, I still remember OGs like Bousefeenix, Ravyne Gaming and Infinite ♾️ before they disappeared from UA-cam and For Honor. I stopped playing after they released the Pirate hero. Too many spam lights unreactables just guessing game, super armor attacks into light chains and the atrocious server disconnects was the last straw for me. One day I hope to see a For Honor 2 with better server connectivity and better combat design.
I love the game and the only way you can love the game is to not get mad but they got to add more stuff and not more characters
after the CCU update me and my friend stop actually "caring" about this game... and after Ubi seemingly HUNTED down whichever characters we played well with and NERF'd the sht outta them... this game is definitely not fun to us anymore ... its almost like the Dev's are making the game easier for them and not giving af about anyone else that enjoyed what they made... they suck at their own game and this is basically them trying to make it easier, as, it is hard to playtest things when you suck at them lol
for me personally its like going to someone's house to play a game that everyone's having fun with, and then you and your friends do awesome, and then they change a rule to make it more challenging for you and less for them, and every time you keep coming back, its a new more stupid rule that sucks the fun out of the game
I think out of all the things to happen to me on this game, my favorite is when my block gets hit through. I just got done playing a match where i was fighting a hitokiri who just kept hitting through my block. I had 19 ping, was using ethernet and my controller is completely fine. Yet my block gets smacked through so often im convinced the devs like watching their players rage quit

For Honor would have more players if it didn’t force players to buy PS Plus
Apart from having less money and time to animate killing minions, it also locked you to killing one or a few at a time. MOST characters can clear the minions a lot faster now than they did then. A change I want to see is shortening the floating distance between you and a character. There is a circle around you where you can't interact with things, and pushing you around to hit proper hitting zones. But for characters like Nobu. You can't hit any fucking minions. 1 at a time for her.
I'm pretty new to the game (rep 2 war mommy) and so far it's not too bad. I've ran into some really cool people that have took the time to teach me the game while also designating me as me as their personal training dummy😂 I've sunk a little over 5000 hrs into destiny 2 so I know a thing or two about developer neglect so I'm not suprised I'm numb to all this and actually enjoying the game lol
i’m predicting for honors comeback is going to come next year.
I'm gonna be honest with you Sol when I platinum this game there's gonna be a serious conversation about if I keep playing. And yes you can say I'm procrastinating on getting the platinum because I enjoy getting killed and killing 😂
But on ñ more serious note I enjoy the friends that add me because, well I guess they're like you say for Honor players are. Personally I love chatting on the Mic before the match then basically synergizing on what happens where.

I'm an OG for honor ever since it was released on February 2017, my first main was Warden, the switched to an Orochi then Conqueror, I will never uninstall it even though it's lost it's meaning with ubisoft's mistakes, I still enjoy it with dominion, so even though the game might be sinking I will sink with it, because this game is my love.❤
I’m latino, play for honor since january, alone, on a play 4, bad internet, and play agains the most toxic people in the Word, Brasillian people. I got my account suspended for 1 month because one guy started to insult me in the ps chat and I did the same to defend myself. I’m a Lawbringer main 😀

Absolutely agree with the intro, i uninstalled the game 2 times and had long time breaks, only to be dragged back by false promises of glory and winning 1v1s.
I quit For honor for about half a year, but then they released Sohei and my curiosity pulled me back in

Slight correction the CCU was 2020, that spike in August 2018 was Ubisoft giving away the game for free in the lead up to Marching Fire
I love solo queue! I can comedically piss off up to SEVEN people without any remorse! It's the best when everyone yells at you for sucking while gallantly sitting atop the scoreboard because you were the only one smart enough not to die while stealing kills. I love this game, Survive the Battle.
I recently reinstalled it and found out that the only way to have fun is to only play with friends and don't take it too seriously
I really hope FH doesn't die, despite the toxic lobbies, bias for certain heroes and factions, and spotchy servers. It's a great game, there's no other game like it (that I've played) that has mechanics like this. It is clear though that in order for FH to thrive and be in a much better spot, the dev team has to actually show they care about the game and make the proper fixes necessary, and listen to the community, and not just pretend that they are listening and ignore the problem.
They clearly can make these changes quickly considering that they removed ocelotl after 1 DAY!! All we can do is be as vocal as possible and hope they actually make the correct changes.

I only play with friends in private games. I get to play who I want to, and they get to play who they want to, without some random saying I'm playing a cheese character because its stronger or I'm just better. Just having fun with some buddy's on our own.
Sadly I have a full group I have enough people to play customs and we usually say 4 phrases

I will never forgive ubisoft for robbing me of a chance to make Blackbeard or Jack Sparrow pirate. And I'll also never forgive them for making vargarian guard gender locked, then making her somehow more annoying than a female tiandi. #NoMoreGenderlock
The players in dominion seem blind to call outs and keep ignoring the game objective, preferring to get ganked by the group of three camping at a zones
I remember couple years ago people saying for honor was dying. Still waiting…. My favourite multiplayer game on console. I will be playing it till they turn off the servers.
When I used to play this game years ago I used to do the duels as the fat guy with the big club and do the one shot hug attack over and over and It made people so mad. Glorious.

As a relatively new and low tier player overall who learned the game crutching zerks hyper armor, taking a long break switching hero’s and trying to play the game properly is pretty fun. Still does have its annoying situations tho.

I just miss being in mid to low tier skill and getting a more verity of players from shit to good. Now all I get is a team of sweatlords against me and my team with the people who will constantly ruin every fight I’m in? But we chase that high of that one good game where you and a random are so in sync that you just can’t be put down
Different skins fir the pirates would be cool and to be able to change the gender. But one of the most successful pirates in history is Shi Yang. She amassed an army of pirates 60,000 strong and took over the seas from the indian to the pacific. She deserves the spotlight dude.
Single pick would kill the game.
People play a hero thay like, or like the look of.
Make it so you can't play them every match. Then A you killed the progression system, and B people will just not play if they can't play who they want to.
It would be a disaster.
