Loved it…. Was 13 yrs Old …As a bitter Wolves fan as Our Cult hero’s George Berry And Derek Squeak Parkin followed The most underrated coaches of all time Richie Barker…. Anyway …. Great music too. Excellent video 🖤🧡🐺

Many thanks for the comment mate. 82-83 was my first full season watching Stoke as a 6 year old with my mum and dad. George Berry was (an still is) one of my all time favourite players. He still remains a cult hero at Stoke too, I guess very few players (if any) that have played for Stoke and Wolves can hold that accolade which says it all about George really. Richie Barker had us playing some great stuff that season but totally killed it the next season by going long ball.
Glad you like the video, I wanted to use music from each year to go alongside the photos and videos from season (I'd go back to The Vic tomorrow given the chance). Check out my other season reviews if you can, I know 83-84 wasn't a good one for you but it's a good soundtrack to the year if nothing else!

That brought back some great memories.

This was my first season as a season ticket holder as 6 year old in the family stand in the corner of the Butler St with my mum and dad. I was hooked straight away after we beat Arsenal in the first match. Great season, fantastic kits. Thanks for the comment and hope that you enjoy the others too.👍

Very similar to the rather fab Leeds United Wilderness Years, & wonderful John Lyall West Ham Years series, well put together & a thoroughly enjoyable watch...& I'm not even a Stoke fan! (I'm Birmingham, & I remember the game at St.Andrews when you were 4-0 up at half-time!).
Strikes me just how similar the Blues & the Potters are...just one solitary League Cup success each in the first 100 years or so of our history, arguably our sides of the early 1970's were the most exciting ever, both endured disastrous campaigns in the top flight come the mid 1980's, both won at Wembley twice in the 1990's in the Leyland DAF & Auto Windscreen Trophy, both had Lou Macari in charge...briefly, both enjoyed a run of seasons in the Premier League in the 2000's...& now both of us are stuck in the Championship, who knows for how long?!!! Big THANKS 👍⚽

Thank you, I appreciate the comment. I actually took inspiration from a Sheffield United fan who'd done something similar. I've found all my old programmes at my mum and dads and have been using them. I intend to do the 80's (my first memories of Stoke) and some of the 90's (some very 'tasty' Stoke - Blues encounters there! I've just completed 83-84 today, take a look please if you get chance although the last day was a bad one for Birmingham... I've just started 84-85 - an absolute disaster of a season for Stoke...! Cheers.

So big THANKS yet again, as I think I've found the Sheffield United series that inspired you, so I'll enjoy watching those as well 👍 I do love the old footy from the 1970s & 80s. A few Blues v Stoke encounters do stand out...the Potters getting the better of us at St.Andrews, first of all 3-0, in Dec '74, thanks to a brace from Stoke legend Jimmy Greenhoff, one of which (similar to Crouch v Man City) won him the Big Match Goal of the Season...and the 4-1 in 1982 I referred to previously. Thankfully I wasn't at the game at St.Andrews in 1992 when there was crowd disturbance 👎 but unfortunately I wasn't at the Britannia either when we turned you over 7-0 in early 1998...us Blues fans queued up extra early for our Sports Argus that evening!

@@steverynne1970 I've seen Greenhoff's goal played a lot on various Stoke channels. 82-83 is the first full season I'm old enough to remember. My first visit to St Andrew's was around 86, it was a drab 0-0. I was at the game where all the trouble happened, our goal shouldn't have stood but the referee somehow bizarrely waved play on. As a 14 year old it was scary stuff afterwards trying to make our way back to the coach. St Andrews is one of my favourite away grounds though even though I've never seen us win there. I was at the 7-0 too. Birmingham were superb and Stoke were dreadful. Brian Hughes ran the show. It just about summed up our first season at the new ground. Give me the old Vic any day which partly makes making these videos even more enjoyable. Not looking forward to the next one though... 3 wins in 42 matches. It's about a 2 week turnover per video. Glad you like them and I appreciate the comments.

Incredibly harsh on Johnny Eustace mate. I'd have him back at Stoke. He was a very popular player for us.

@@boothenendtalers Maybe, only time will tell I suppose. (& only time will tell if you end up with Eustace as manager at Stoke, which could be more than likely in the foreseeable). Been rumours for a while now that Rooney would be brought in, not official yet but expected in the next 24-48 hours. It's hard to knock our new owners who have come in and transformed the whole outlook of the club in such a short space of time and have obviously got big ambitions, I just hope the big name manager and profile pays off this time round🤞...we did this before with Gianfranco Zola though, and he only won 2 games!
On a different note, i've had a quiet day at work today (!) so I've drawn up a Played for both Blues & Stoke XI (I reckon all played for Blues first!)
1 Jack BUTLAND 2 Ian CLARKSON 3 Graham POTTER 4 Richard FORSYTH 5 Noel BLAKE 6 Vince OVERSON 7 Jermaine PENNANT 8 Simon STURRIDGE 9 Cameron JEROME 10 Paul PESCHISOLIDO 11 Nigel GLEGHORN
What do you think?! I reckon this lot would already be a couple of goals up midway through the 2nd half against a rival Played for both Villa & Vale XI side...before substitutes, Keith Bertschin (now in his late 60's) and Jimmy Greenhoff (now in his late 70's) come on and both score to wrap up a memorable 4-0 win 👍

That Mickey Thomas goal against Liverpool was the 1st goal i ever saw us score. Think it was only my 2nd game (0-2 v Spurs was my 1st). I was in the Stoke End seats and the swerve to beat Grobbelaar was unreal. Had a season ticket by around the 86/87 season and I'm so glad I was able to see us at the Vic for 15 years. Happy days.

You'd have had a brilliant view of Mickey's volley then David. 1982-83 was my first season as a season ticket holder when I was 6 and the first season I remember. Our seats were in the family area in the corner of the Butler St before they got switched around 1987-88ish (?) to the Stoke End stand. Then I made the progression to the Boothen Paddock and eventually the Boothen End itself. Loved those days at The Vic and the 1986-87season is still one of my favourites. Thank you for the interest in the channel, 1987-88 should be completed shortly.

@@boothenendtalers I've enjoyed watching them. Really well put together. When you get round to the 88/89 season, I put the Beagrie goal v Bournemouth on UA-cam years ago. The quality is so bad due to it being recorded from the back of the Boothen stand and I filmed it off the TV. I do have the VHS of the full game somewhere. Offers there if you want to take the goals directly off it. That's if you've a VHS player 👍

@@davidtilstone4814 That goal is going to be key to another video I have in mind too, thinking of doing a top 10 of 80's televised goals and obviously that one is right up there. Really appreciate the offer, I don't have a VHS but I will look into it and get back to you if you don't mind? I remember it vividly, what a goal it was 👍

@@boothenendtalers not a problem. Shame it's so grainy and I've not owned a VHS player myself for years. Also had the Man City Boxing day game too. Loaned it out and didn't see it again. Still hope I get it back one day.
