Hi, do you have the Stoke vs Wolves from the 1994-95 shown live on Central was it presented by Tony Francis and Jimmy Greaves
Hi mate, I don't have that one but it is on UA-cam somewhere as I can remember watching highlights of it I think
I want them all!!!!!
I don't know how Helen gets the detail into them that she does??!
I had this video. I also had the Macari years video to. I loved Cranson waggling his finger to the Boothern End then slips
I was a bit disappointed that the second of the five matches was the 2-3 home defeat to Liverpool though mate, thought he might have gone for the 2-0 at Vale. My brother has the full 90 minutes of that match on video somewhere. I've not heard of the Macari Years one, was it like the Waddington years one?
RIP Alan Ball,
Agreed mate, passionate and enthusiastic throughout as our manager but for some reason it just didn't work.
Loved the victoria ground, when lou was in charge,by god he got those players fit,and wanting to play for that badge. Steino £100,000 from Oxford amazing
agree completely mate. Stein for 100k and Overson for 55k were absolute steals. It's no wonder we scored so many late goals as we were that fit.
Shilton, Banks, Ball, Watson, Mills, Francis, Talbot, Macari, Jordan, Pejic, Hartford.
I don't think either Gerry or Trevor Francis played for us did they mate? I had Geoff Hurst as the other player who you haven't listed?
Gerry Francis was part of our coaching staff under Pulis. Hurst does have Stoke connections
@@boothenendtalers Gerry Francis was our first team coach under Tony Pulis in 2009-11. I’d totally forgotten about Hurst 🤦🏻♂️
@@thehauntedexplorers1738 Yes mate you're right, I need to update the title 😆
@@jameswalker6971 totally forgot about that, I best update the title 😆
It's a good thing the Beagrie goal was scored on the sunny side of the pitch! Great vid as always
I thought exactly the same mate 😆 Thanks for the positive comment as ever. I'm currently in the process of putting the 90-91 season review together, all the videos are edited so I just need to sort the photos and narrative. Hopefully it will be done by the end of next week 👍
This is amazing
I agree mate, proper history and an interesting snapshot of attitudes towards football played in better times.
Loved it…. Was 13 yrs Old …As a bitter Wolves fan as Our Cult hero’s George Berry And Derek Squeak Parkin followed The most underrated coaches of all time Richie Barker…. Anyway …. Great music too. Excellent video 🖤🧡🐺
Many thanks for the comment mate. 82-83 was my first full season watching Stoke as a 6 year old with my mum and dad. George Berry was (an still is) one of my all time favourite players. He still remains a cult hero at Stoke too, I guess very few players (if any) that have played for Stoke and Wolves can hold that accolade which says it all about George really. Richie Barker had us playing some great stuff that season but totally killed it the next season by going long ball. Glad you like the video, I wanted to use music from each year to go alongside the photos and videos from season (I'd go back to The Vic tomorrow given the chance). Check out my other season reviews if you can, I know 83-84 wasn't a good one for you but it's a good soundtrack to the year if nothing else!
Great support but no more than 5500 Stoke ?
I agree mate, think Lou was exaggerating a bit there...!
@@boothenendtalers yes just abit, like I say great support though, it would have been the case if they had half the side stand like some clubs have filled I'm suprised Stoke didn't have more fans ? This is a great channel , do you have much 70s footage ?
@@yippyialeftside8351 think we were only given 5500 mate if memory serves me correctly, just the bottom tier of the Anfield Road end I think. Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm guessing you're a Villa fan (yippy-i-a - Holte Enders in the Sky?) judging by your profile name but apologies if that's not the case??? My plan is to go to the end of The Victoria Ground era in 1997, then I'd like to do the 70's. I was only born in 76 so the first year I remember is 1982-83 which is where I started this 6 months ago. I'll need help with the 70's though as I want to do them justice as it was the best period in Stoke's (largely unsuccessful) history. I'll definately need help with the 70's music too 😆
@@boothenendtalers Im a strange one i like villa coz of family n have watched alot of there games but im really a Brighton fan from nearby so abit of both, thats why the 83 fa cup final, n been in both of the left side of the north stand goldstone n left side holtend , 2 great ends for me, i love all football certainly old school stuff, mum from midlands dad sussex, first game Brighton v newcastle fa cup 1983 1 1 keegan n waddlwe were first they were 2nd division, did em in replay, yes fantastic stuff cheers , all sounds great
@@yippyialeftside8351 the 1983 FA Cup final is the first one I ever watched and I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Brighton since then. I don't know if you've watched my 1989-90 season review but there a few pics of Stokies having a relegation party at the Goldstone Ground. I never got to go but it looked like a cracking old school ground with loads of character.
Was at Stoke with the Albion on Tuesday night in March. We were down to 9 men but drew 0-0. Less than 7,000 there. In our 2-0 home win, Ian Painter , who is a Baggies fan missed an open goal.
I didn't realise West Brim were down to 9 men in that game, typical of our season that we still couldn't beat 9 men. I've always enjoyed an away day at the Hawthornes, the club have done a great job modernizing the ground. In the 86-87 season, we were on an amazing run the got battered 4-1 by you. Our car broke down at Walsall, we hitched a lift and ended up being late and going in the wrong side of the terrace of the old end. The police ended up escorting us through to the Stoke fans. We should've just turned around and gone home that day 😆
@@boothenendtalers Then the following season we tried to get the better of Stoke's record , but ended up winning 4 and getting 26 points, including doubling Birmingham
@@boothenendtalers I was at that 4-1 and the 6-0 a couple of years later. As for being at Stoke, I've been 23 times to both Stoke grounds with Albion as we've been in the same division a lot , down the years (first time was Dec 79 we lost 3-2, Crooks got a hat trick). I didn't see us win at Stoke until 2012. Although, I've seen 3 wins in the last few years. I'll be there on April 19. Anyway, keep these videos coming - they are great. As kid in the 80s, football and music was my thing, as they still are now to an extent. I used to read the Rothmans books, and I do recall a few of these Stoke results from memory, even not v us. A bit sad, but hey-ho.
@@boothenendtalers It was 9v 10 because Martyn Bennett and Keith Bertschin had a right old ding dong , haymakers AOTS and both went. Then Jimmy Nicholl was sent off for swearing at a lino.
Great memory mate. the first season that I remember was 82-83 when I was 6. My mum and dad wouldn't let me go to night matches and I think West Brom won 3-0 as Stoke that season. My first trip to The Hawthornes was the 86-87 4-1 as I'd mentioned. Keith Bertschin got our consolation goal, he still celebrated like he'd won the World Cup final like all his goals though 😆 I (luckily) didn't go to the 6-0 (although the highlights are on my video for that season) but do remember Tony Ellis scoring off the back of his head (fluke) when we got relegated. Tony Kelly and Brian Talbot were two of my favourite players growing up. I was gutted when they left. I've somehow mixed up a picture of them bpth in my 86-87 video. After that my trips over to you are generally very happy ones, we had that mad run where Stoke rarely lost. Loved the 90's clashes that we had, some great games for me to cover when I get around to it.
Lou Macari will always be my favourite manager …. So many happy memories, remember the days when we were good up front. Stein, biggins, Sheron & Thorne scored so many great goals.
Happy days indeed although I never want to go back into the 3rd tier watching us play again. Hope it's not next year either.
Another great video mate, of another Stoke disaster season.
Cheers mate, much appreciated, it's going to get slightly worse before it gets better as we know. This one was hard work in more ways than one.
No one likes to get relegated but even watching that season, made me smile, some very happy times in the 90s
Our support (particularly away from home) was superb that season as was Peter Fox. It was weird how much everyone united behind the team when the performances were generally very poor for the most part.
Brilliant as ever mate, thankyou
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. This one was hard work....!
Cracking again. Foxy made some decent saves that season.
Absolute graft that was mate... will be in touch again soon for your memories of yet another bad season before things get better...
I'll get revising 😁

My uncle played with Stan at Blackpool Jock Dodds. 👍
Superb mate, I imagine he has some stories to tell, particularly around the 1953 cup win.
My Dad, a Spurs fan, took me to watch Stoke's first game back in the First Division against Tottenham just because Stan was playing. What a treat, though Stoke won 2-1 !
It seemed that Sir Stan was respected by fans of all English clubs if some of the comments I've received are anything to go by mate. Thanks for sharing your memory.
Thank you so much for this upload. I missed it in 1963.
It's a superb watch and you are very welcome. I was born in 76 so far too young to witness any of this but I found it festinating viewing once Dave had passed it to me to convert digitally.
Are you watching this Coates this is how you get promoted its called ambition!!!!
Not entirely sure the family will read the comments mate but I get the sentiment.... 😆
For the benefit of the programme makers: during the intro they mention Man Utd won the FA Cup, Spurs the European Cup winners Cup and Chelsea stormed back into the first division in 1963. One glaring omission, who won the First Division championship title in 1963? Answer Everton. this accolade was widely accepted as the more important achievement back then. and up until to 2023. I recall seeing Sir Stanley Matthews playing for Stoke ( who were promoted with Chelsea) against Everton in November 1963, He was 47 years old and in opposition to players like Tony Kay Brian Labone, Jimmy Gabriel and Dennis Stevens all marvellous defensive players who were part of the league championship side. it was a remarkable achievement by Sir Stan. Everton won the game 2--0 with goals from Derek Temple and Tony Kay. There was a minutes silence before the game for President Kennedy who had be killed the day before in the USA.
It's an astonishing omission really, especially considering that Granada TV have made it. Thanks for sharing your memories from the era, I've worked and lived in and around Liverpool for the past 23 years and love the place, it's a true footballing city in every sense of the word. It's a shame to see a club with the footballing traditions that Everton have struggling as they are and Everton in the Community do amazing things where I work. If you want an alternative view of the 1984-85 season where you won the league, have a look at the video I made about it from our perspective at Stoke. Both Everton games are on there, I had a very different experience to what you had that season!
@@boothenendtalers Thanks for your kind response. I gave up on Granada back in the late 1980s. Faced with a strong challenge to their franchise to provide ITV coverage in the North West they opened a TV studio initially in Liverpool Exchange square to provide news current affairs from there in 1982, to demonstrate their commitment to Merseyside. They later relocated to the Albert Dock with Tom McGurk and Chris Kerr the main news presenters. They still retained Deansgate Manchester as the main studios for all programming. This Morning with Richard & Judy was also broadcast from the Albert Dock right into the mid 90s. When the Government awarded Granada the 25 year franchise in the late 1980s. shortly afterwards they closed their news studio in the Albert Dock, later This morning & Richard & Judy left for London. The Liverpool bid was led by Terry Smith who started Radio City in the mid 70s plus a host of big names and backing from Liverpool who were household names. Brookside, pop artists and actors. Sadly after watching Everton since 1960 I lost interest watching the mind numbing slow passing side ways and backwards under Roberto Martinez , And the folly of expecting success by shelling out hundreds of millions on mostly overseas players who go missing in the winter months. instead of building a team from lower division sides who are just as good. PS My work often took me into Granada in the 1980s !
Great contribution❤

The state of the pitches back in the day! 😂 More like mud wrestling! Reminds me of the pitches I used to play on in Lads n Dad's! 😂 Bet I wasn't the only one to have an open goal in front of me, leather it! Only for the ball to stop dead on the line in 6 inches of mud!! 😂😂 Happy times indeed ❤

Very true indeed mate and Sir Stan comes across as a real gentleman too.
Fascinating film..Well done guys..That's proper history.
I found it a brilliant watch too mate, life must've been much more straight forward back then. I never seen it before Dave told me about it and passed it to me so I bought the software to convert it and it was worth every penny in my opinion.
Great viewing. Thank you for all of the videos on your channel - a superb trip through Stoke history which we've not really had on here before!
Thanks for the feedback mate, glad you're enjoying the videos. I'm enjoying putting them together when I have the time to fit them in. The plan is to go to the end of the 92-93 season first and then I'd like to do the 70's. However, I was only born in 76 so will need to ask around so that I can hopefully do that era justice.
That was great to watch again 👍
Good joint effort I think mate. The documentary is superb so thanks for sharing it again and I'm delighted how well the convertor that I bought has captured the footage. Here's hoping it does the same for others that I have now 👍
Thats come out great mate. Cracking job. Some memories there even if Leeds & Albion away were 2 of fhem 😭 roll on the next one 👍
Nice one mate, not the original soundtrack I had as we discussed but got to stick to UA-cam guidelines. Thanks again for all of your help and I'll be picking your brain again about the next one soon 😃

Good man, 1984 was my first sticker album as a kid so I picked the 1983 one up of eBay as it was my season season that I remember supporting Stoke. The 1969 one I've put on here was my dads.
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing all of these videos and amazing memories, and the time you’ve put in. I’d go back to the Macari days in a heartbeat, when we had some players that would walk into any of our teams over the last several years. What id give for a Stein, Sheron, Biggins, Cranson, Chamberlain, Gleghorn, Bould, Beagrie and many others in our squad right now.
@@andrewbielecki6154 many thanks for your positive comments mate, they are much appreciated and most of the comments about the videos from other people have been the same too. That will be the next one and a half mate... 😆 I remember somebody graffitiing that one a wall that you could see off the D Road. It wasn't all bad under him to be fair.
Remember the away match v Brighton & Hove Albion, as it was one of the most abject performances I'd ever seen from a Stoke City team.
There's been plenty of competition for that accolade over the years...!
@@boothenendtalers Indeed, there have been plenty of contenders, but I just seem to recall, even at the time, this performance was just inept and the team lacked any fight. Looking back at my records, George Berry didn't play, Keith Bertschin appears to have been up front on his own, Terry Williams made one of his few appearances for the club, and Paul Crooks made his sole league appearance for the club as a sub, so not the strongest of line-ups put out.
That brought back some great memories.

That Mickey Thomas goal against Liverpool was the 1st goal i ever saw us score. Think it was only my 2nd game (0-2 v Spurs was my 1st). I was in the Stoke End seats and the swerve to beat Grobbelaar was unreal. Had a season ticket by around the 86/87 season and I'm so glad I was able to see us at the Vic for 15 years. Happy days.
You'd have had a brilliant view of Mickey's volley then David. 1982-83 was my first season as a season ticket holder when I was 6 and the first season I remember. I understand the ill feeling towards him that you may have in Birmingham, many managers have done the same to Stoke and will do again in the future, that's just part of football. Stoke and Birmingham have similar histories really and there are a lot of player links between the two clubs in this video. Believe it or not I was actually really pleased when you beat Arsenal in the League Cup Final. Just a side-note to your original comment, Lou Macari was not the Stoke manager when Birmingham won 7-0, he had left at the end of the previous season.

Thanks, loved making this one, so many good times during those years.
Thanks for a great bunch of videos. Really well summarised. I love a blast of nostalgia. It was a shame about the Mick Mills era. He navigated a really hard first season brilliantly and throughout his reign he was dealt some blows with the need to sell. He wasn't far off and it felt like he was going push on but in the end it was like he couldn't find that final ingredient. Good memories though

Superb again 👍 always a thoroughly enjoyable watch...and I reckon these episodes, at around 20 minutes each, are the ideal length to cover the ups and downs of a full season...not too short, not too longgggg! Every club in the country should have a fan like this that produces such a quality round up. Some good players in that side. Forgot that Howard Gayle ended up at Stoke for a few games a couple of seasons after leaving Birmingham ⚽
Thanks very much as ever mate, glad you enjoyed it. Really enjoyed putting that one together as it was a rare good season for us, we were on fire for a spell. Didn't realise that Howard Gayle had been at Birmingham either - another link between the clubs! Unless I'm mistaken, the player on the front of the Birmingham programme on the video looks like Wayne Clarke? He would also join us on loan in 90-91 I think if I remember correctly. I've done the video editing for the 87-88 season but not the photos yet although my next video is something slightly different from the season reviews, one that I'm sure will go down well with Stoke fans but probably less so with Blues given who is it about??! Hopefully I'll get it on here by next weekend and off the top of my head there is at least 6 Stoke-Birmingham player links going in it.
It was Wayne Clarke. He did well for Blues, albeit in the old Division 2 (today's Championship)...he went on to win a League Title with Everton when we sold him cuz we needed the money (as per usual!). I'm intrigued about your next video then 👍
Another quality episode 👍 Player of the Season Keith Bertschin...good to see him do so well at Stoke, he was my first hero when he scored the only goal of the game for Birmingham against Luton, the first time I went to St.Andrews back in 1980. I noticed Keith doing some coaching in Solihull recently 👍
Cheers Steve, thanks for the positive comments as ever, glad you liked it. Two things always stick in my mind about Keith Bertschin; 1, regardless of the score in the game, he'd always celebrate a goal as if he scored the winner in the World Cup Final... and 2, my mum used to fancy him like most women did during that time! Glad he's still involved in football to some degree today.
I'm also currently working on 1986-87, the two Birmingham kits were beauty's this season.
@@boothenendtalersMy fave Blues kit ever though was the Royal Blue and White Adidas V-neck and Stripes that Keith Bertschin would of worn back in 1979-80 when we won promotion back to Division 1 at the first attempt...you got a fave Stoke shirt?
@@steverynne1970 my favourite home shirt is the late 70's / early 80's Umbro 'RICOH' sponsored shirt with the Umbro diamonds down the side, probably because it was the first one that I had as a kid. I loved the early 90's Matchwinner one we had too with black trim (the season of the St Andrews 'disagreement' between the fans. My favourite away top was the 1984-86 sky blue / navy pinstripe one which was the opposite of the home kit which our fans hated. The yellow / black 90's Matchwinner one was great too. Macron (to be fair to them) did a great recreation of our 70's white top with the red and black sash. A lovely looking kit to be fair.
Well put together 👍 yet another enjoyable watch with a great soundtrack. Must have felt like the longgggest season ever at the time! If it's any consolation, after a good start the following season, 1985-86, we (Birmingham) were almost as bad, as we also went 17 League Matches without a win and lost the last 7 (and got knocked out of the FA Cup at home to non-League Altrincham ☹️) ⚽
Thanks as ever for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it. It was a tough watch that season let alone having to view it again! I've started 85-86 and I did notice looking at the tables that Birmingham had started well, didn't realise you went 17 without winning though. Stoke generally started slowly in the 80's. I can also vaguely remember the Altrincham result, although I've got the embarrassment of Telford and Port Vale to come as I head towards 92 plus Blyth Spartans when I head back towards 72...!
Jude Bellingham mate... at what age did Birmingham fans realise that he could potentially be something very, very special?
@@boothenendtalers I was aware of someone playing for the Under23s at just 15 years old and it wasn't long before he became the youngest Blurs First Team Player ever, just turned 16...but it wasn't long after that everybody knew who he was after a couple of winning goals and becoming the youngest Blues scorer ever...was never gonna stay for very long
scored against Stoke with a deflected shot when he was 16 if I remember correctly?? @@steverynne1970
Very similar to the rather fab Leeds United Wilderness Years, & wonderful John Lyall West Ham Years series, well put together & a thoroughly enjoyable watch...& I'm not even a Stoke fan! (I'm Birmingham, & I remember the game at St.Andrews when you were 4-0 up at half-time!). Strikes me just how similar the Blues & the Potters are...just one solitary League Cup success each in the first 100 years or so of our history, arguably our sides of the early 1970's were the most exciting ever, both endured disastrous campaigns in the top flight come the mid 1980's, both won at Wembley twice in the 1990's in the Leyland DAF & Auto Windscreen Trophy, both had Lou Macari in charge...briefly, both enjoyed a run of seasons in the Premier League in the 2000's...& now both of us are stuck in the Championship, who knows for how long?!!! Big THANKS 👍⚽
Thank you, I appreciate the comment. I actually took inspiration from a Sheffield United fan who'd done something similar. I've found all my old programmes at my mum and dads and have been using them. I intend to do the 80's (my first memories of Stoke) and some of the 90's (some very 'tasty' Stoke - Blues encounters there! I've just completed 83-84 today, take a look please if you get chance although the last day was a bad one for Birmingham... I've just started 84-85 - an absolute disaster of a season for Stoke...! Cheers.
So big THANKS yet again, as I think I've found the Sheffield United series that inspired you, so I'll enjoy watching those as well 👍 I do love the old footy from the 1970s & 80s. A few Blues v Stoke encounters do stand out...the Potters getting the better of us at St.Andrews, first of all 3-0, in Dec '74, thanks to a brace from Stoke legend Jimmy Greenhoff, one of which (similar to Crouch v Man City) won him the Big Match Goal of the Season...and the 4-1 in 1982 I referred to previously. Thankfully I wasn't at the game at St.Andrews in 1992 when there was crowd disturbance 👎 but unfortunately I wasn't at the Britannia either when we turned you over 7-0 in early 1998...us Blues fans queued up extra early for our Sports Argus that evening!
@@steverynne1970 I've seen Greenhoff's goal played a lot on various Stoke channels. 82-83 is the first full season I'm old enough to remember. My first visit to St Andrew's was around 86, it was a drab 0-0. I was at the game where all the trouble happened, our goal shouldn't have stood but the referee somehow bizarrely waved play on. As a 14 year old it was scary stuff afterwards trying to make our way back to the coach. St Andrews is one of my favourite away grounds though even though I've never seen us win there. I was at the 7-0 too. Birmingham were superb and Stoke were dreadful. Brian Hughes ran the show. It just about summed up our first season at the new ground. Give me the old Vic any day which partly makes making these videos even more enjoyable. Not looking forward to the next one though... 3 wins in 42 matches. It's about a 2 week turnover per video. Glad you like them and I appreciate the comments.
Incredibly harsh on Johnny Eustace mate. I'd have him back at Stoke. He was a very popular player for us.
@@boothenendtalers Maybe, only time will tell I suppose. (& only time will tell if you end up with Eustace as manager at Stoke, which could be more than likely in the foreseeable). Been rumours for a while now that Rooney would be brought in, not official yet but expected in the next 24-48 hours. It's hard to knock our new owners who have come in and transformed the whole outlook of the club in such a short space of time and have obviously got big ambitions, I just hope the big name manager and profile pays off this time round🤞...we did this before with Gianfranco Zola though, and he only won 2 games! On a different note, i've had a quiet day at work today (!) so I've drawn up a Played for both Blues & Stoke XI (I reckon all played for Blues first!) 1 Jack BUTLAND 2 Ian CLARKSON 3 Graham POTTER 4 Richard FORSYTH 5 Noel BLAKE 6 Vince OVERSON 7 Jermaine PENNANT 8 Simon STURRIDGE 9 Cameron JEROME 10 Paul PESCHISOLIDO 11 Nigel GLEGHORN What do you think?! I reckon this lot would already be a couple of goals up midway through the 2nd half against a rival Played for both Villa & Vale XI side...before substitutes, Keith Bertschin (now in his late 60's) and Jimmy Greenhoff (now in his late 70's) come on and both score to wrap up a memorable 4-0 win 👍
A great showcase! Very well painted. IF you have Facebook this group would be great to post these pictures too .facebook.com/groups/973451856599709
