Hi 😊 I have 2 mixing bowl sizes 2700ml and 4450ml. If you make 6 inch or 7 inch cake, 2700ml should be good enough. I do have the bigger one for bread making. Sometimes the big one comes in handy, it's a little heavy but useful. Both glass or steel are both good, just matter of preference. Steel is lighter, easy handling. Get the stainless steel one if you're going for the steel. I personally prefer glass as I also use for making bread, i can see through how the dough work. Hope I answered you
