Moments matter. It's so cool that you and Bisscute are friends. I'm a huge fan of you both. If you haven't seen her reaction to this song, be sure to. I think it was one of her best reactions. Inna, you are absolutely fabulous, and thank you for reacting to this song. 😎❤
I lost my dad in November of 2020.And I still miss and think about him everyday. And I’ve heard this song for a long time, probably the first time I heard it was in the late 80’s. I don’t think it’s about regret. I think it’s just about how time slips away from all of us.
Absolutely. I never had the chance to get married and become a father. However, I did help raise my nephews and niece. My father suffered an acute stroke before he could retire. I helped take care of him until he passed away. Even though I will see him again, I still shake my head when I think of the precious time wasted on stupid disagreements. I wish I had the time back.
Fast paced lives, distractions, jobs, take us away from our loved ones. Our parents eventually die and we never stop missing them. Regrets about not taking the time to be with our loved ones all add up to this song. Very relatable.
The real message behind this song is that you need to make the time for those you love while you have them close. As a father myself, whose children are all grown and gone, this long-time favorite song of mine gets more bitter with each passing year. Even though my children all live within a 50 mile radius, I don't see them near enough. I know that it is because, when I had the chance to give them my time, I had "other things" to do. Now that I have the time for them, they are busy doing their own "other things".
the song is one of regrets.. dad never had the time to be there for his son, he was proud of his son, but did not spend any time with him. Then as the son aged and the dad wanted to see his son, the son was too busy and did not have time for him. He grew up just like his dad, absence from his life...
The song is about regret. He never had time for his son when his son was growing up. Then when he did have time, his son didn’t have time to spend with him.
Harry had so many great story songs. The serious ones are like Taxi, and WOLD. A funny but sad story is well told in the song 30,000 Pounds Of Bananas. If you like the story songs you can't go wrong with Jim Croce. Operator, Bad Bad Leroy Brown, or (my favorite) Roller Derby Queen. Also a Bisscute fan here. I like her reactions.
Thx for sharing this Inna. It sure makes me thinking have I gave enough time to my kids after all the work, responsibilities and duties and some time of my own to keep myself okay so I could give love and care to my family... Very good lyrics that gave lots of thoughts.
As a parent of 3,.this song has me in tears by the last verse every time. Another bittersweet story song of his you must react to hia other major hit, "Taxi." Have some kleenex handy.
I don't know why the closed caption kept saying the word "boat" when the word never appears in the song. It is supposed to be, "The cat's in the cradle and a silver spoon, Little Boy Blue and the man in the moon". It's weird that the closed captioning could be so far off.
"To be loved and to love in return". Nothing is greater to know. I don't belive you grasped that point of the song. He sang the song in third person, a Father's point of view or as a lesson to the listening. The Father told how he neglected to make the effort to spend time with son as he grew up. When he ( Father telling the story) grew older and had more time and wanted to spend time with his son, his son who had said a couples times he wanted "to be just like his Dad", grew up to be just like his Father ( telling the story ) not taking extra effort to be with his Dad. A lesson many of us failed to recognize from both a Father's life and a Son's life. A sad lesson to learn when it becomes too late.
Love your reactions Inna. You keep them real. "Taxi" is my favorite Harry Chapin song. I think you would enjoy it. Also, just a fun one is "30,000 Pounds of Bananas".
His last name is pronounced, "Chay-pin". In your thumbnail, it says, "Chopin". Frédéric Chopin was a composer during the Romantic period, so at least it was another musician.😅
I see how you could think the song is bittersweet but unfortunately it's only bitter and sad. The father never had time for his son but the son still looked up to him and said he will grow up just like him. Ultimately he does grow up just like him and doesn't have time for his father when he is older.

It's cool they are friends. I can see why. I enjoy watching both of their reaction channels.

This song came out 50 years ago and is still relevant today. Harry's father, Jim Chapin was a jazz drummer and wasn't home all of the time either.

No man is guaranteed the next sunrise. Spend time with your family ...
One need not be a parent to appreciate the message of this song, which is to not take for granted the time we have with loved ones.

your comment is so true. my dad has passed away and this song brings a tear to my eye every time i hear it.

Love the song, thanks for picking a great video with the family interviews. Another 10 for a great reaction.

The other song from Harry is “Taxi”, I think you’ll really like it
He didn't take have to spend with his son, when his son grew up he didn't have time to spend with his father. So they were both the same.
Such a great song and harsh reminder. Our children learn how to act and how to live based on our examples, so we need to do better.
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
The band Ugly Kid Joe did a really good cover of this song
Yes they did.😉👍
...they are good friends with Harry's son, so they showed respect when they performed this
"Taxi" is a great Harry Chapin story song. Rock on
Peace, Love!!
Harry Chapin sang another bittersweet song "Taxi" you should give it a listen.
HI there gorgeous INNA this song brings me to tears , I love my dad. Love you keep up the great work hun

One the worlds great songs
I’ve heard this song a 100 times before, but now that I’m a fairly recent “empty nester” with both our kids away at college, it really hits home 😢.
Harry Chapin was an amazing storyteller. You should definitely check out “A Better Place to Be.”

La voce e lo stile mi ricordano un po' i Jethro Tull. Bella reaction , deliziosa Inna
Another similar song that would make for a great recommendation would be "Father & son" by Cat Stevens
❤🎶 👏👏👏
J. Lang } Lie to me. That's my simple request. 😊

You are a parent actually, you have fur-children! 😊😺🐶

Hi inna if you loved this version you should check out ugly kid Joe's version of this beautiful song ❤❤❤

Ugly Kid Joe did a more rock cover of this song, it is one of their greatest hits too.
You have to MAKE time to be with your loved ones. For one day. You might not be there. God bless you. Hi from Texas
if you don't make time for your kids they won't make time for you
This is one of those songs, where the cover is better than the original. The cover is mean, is from the metal band ugly kid joe
I always thought this was an Ugly Kid Joe original.
HI SWEET LADY- CAN YOU REACT TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY VOICE- RANDY TRAVIS- "THE BOX" YOU'LL LOVE THE MEMORY SONG OF PASSED LOVED ONES!
I've never seen anyone get the meaning of this song wrong before, this is not a sweet song ...infact it is a very sad song
I see how you could think the song is bittersweet but unfortunately it's only bitter and sad. So dramatic lol
It’s Harry Chapin not Chopin
Boy, that autocaptioning in the source video really butchered the lyrics. :(
Pronounced Chaypin.
Hi Inna. It is about a father and a son. Women do know this.
i HATE this song.
Parental issues, eh?...
