However, many people make significant mental or strategic mistakes when they decide to learn a second language. Remember these tips: It won’t be easy; only studying grammar is NOT a good learning strategy; you need to do a lot of listening practice; don’t be afraid to challenge yourself; and make sure you practice speaking even if you’re alone. This lesson is intended to motivate you and to give you real, practical advice you can start using today to help yourself learn English in a more effective manner. www.engvid.com/learning-engli...

Very true Sir. I have been learning English for more than ten years now . As you mentioned in this video it is a complicated and time consuming task. I have already dedicated most of my time to learn and practice English. When I tried to improve my listening skill I began with simple english travelling videos on UA-cam but now thanks to my dedication I watch BBC news and other kind of advanced english videos . Still I have so far to go . I love english language.

Hi Alex, How've you been ?.
You know Alex, I completely agree with you about the first thing, 'cause it took me about one year and a half to learn how to speak, understand, write and read English and I had to study Grammar and a bit of Phonetics but I did all that in my country and then I had a chance to travel to the USA and stayed over there for almost 10 years and I think I learned a little bit more about the language because I used to practice, I mean, I used to speak English about 80 % of the time, constantly and I used to speak my mother tongue (Spanish) 20% of the time, but that was a long time ago and I had to come back to my country again. Now I'm brushing up on it 'cause I think and feel like I'm losing fluency in the auditive comprehension (listening) once in a while I practice my speaking with some native speakers who come to my country as tourists, so when they say "learn English in 30 days, or 3 months, that's a lie, they say that just to attract subscribers and make money, as simple as that. Thanks for the video Alex. 👍.

The first one is the most valuable. The second I’d say would be “do not get upset, if you didn’t remember a new word right away or forgot”. It’s normal.

I've been learning English for almost three years and I wouldn't say that I reached an intermediate level 'cause I do it by myself. Sometimes it's so boring to learn on your own that's why I lack practice especcially speaking practice. There are several English courses in my town but teachers who work there are mostly from Africa and their accent is so weird. Shortly IDK how to go on learning.

I enjoy listening to English, but, when I understand all that I hear.
I have been learning English for fourteen months. This is true - Learning English is a process of many years. "Learn English in 30 days!" - it's a lie. Nobody can't do it that fast.
I know one man, who isn't a native speaker. Before he could speak fluently, he studied English for 7 years! 7 years - day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year. And after that, he moved to another country and he could work with foreigners easily. He was from Ukraine.

Great video as always! Maybe I would also mention not to be obsessed with speaking a perfect American or British English. Of course it'll help you to pick one of them, but learning English goes beyond that I guess.
