I didn't realize I was accidentally watching this in 360p because the clarity in this dude's explanations of his step by step made everything clear as day.
This dude did an outstanding job showing and explaining the entire process. This is the way you make a clear and helpful UA-cam video that doesn't waste your time. Great work!
I'm a 68 year old woman, the instructions you gave were so right on, I repaired my clock on my 2003 in less than a half hour, soldering and all. You are a great teacher! Thank you very much for posting that video,if you were here, I'd kiss you on the, cheek. Jt
I had never used a soldering iron in my life, I had never fixed a circuit board before. However, thanks to this video, I fixed the clock in my wife's Corolla, which had been out of commission for 2 years. You're the boss!!
My 2004 Corolla clock had not work in ten years...now it runs great! Thanks to your video, it gave me the confidence to try to solder for the first time & I was finally able to fix the clock myself for just $4. Thank you Sensai!!
Dude,,,,,, "YES"> it worked, "EXACTLY" as you've showed. I just plugged in the unit, got it hot,,,,touched the ends of each of them,,,, and then plugged it in, turned on the key,,,,,,,and "IT WORKS"! Thanks!
Fan-freaking-tastic! My clock was on the fritz..... sometimes it worked, other times not. Followed the steps. Under 20 mins. Clock back to new. Thank you!!
I have an ‘05 Corolla LE and the clock first went out around 2010. Very occasionally it would pop back on for a short while but worsened over time to almost never coming on. I thought it was the connection at the back and taping and using zip ties didn’t work. I saw your video, bought a narrow tip soldering iron and tried this. It has now worked for 2 months thanks to you.
I’m on my second Toyota. Clocks went out within a few months of buying. I always just live with it since the rest of the car is of such good quality. I’ll be following your video this weekend. Thanks!
Toyota Dealer wants $355.00 for a New clock for the 2006 Corolla!! I don't pretend to know what I'm doing but I will do THIS. Great explanation of procedures. Thank you so much!
Asked the TOYOTA Parts Dept. today how much a new clock like this costs (if it's available)... $510.00!!! Can you believe it?! Thanks for this repair tip. Very well presented, demonstrated and recorded!
I have never soldered anything in my life. Heating up all the old solder didn’t fix it. So I watched a few quick soldering vids on UA-cam, used the wire that came with the iron, made a mess of the circuit board... but it works!!!! I’m in shock, THANK YOU!!
Fantastic video! I thought I was going to have to replace my clock, which wasn't going to be cheap, but I followed the instructions here and was able to get it going again. Every step is described clearly - nothing left out - and it worked great. Thanks for taking the time to do this!
This video is timeless! I used this trick back in 2016 to fix it in my first 9th Gen Corolla. Got a new-to-me 9th Gen Corolla a few years after that and had the same issue. Looked this video up again, and same fix did the trick.
My corolla clock is working but very dim. You Can barely make out the time. I was looking to replace it and found this video instead of a replacement video. With nothing to loose, I did exactly as shown in the video. Hit the solder joints with an iron. Put it back, turned it on and BAM! the clock is bright as it should be. So this trick works even if you have a clock that is too dim to see. 👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🙏🙏
Worked perfectly, thank you. I chose to remove the circuit board from the plastic housing for access to the solder points without inadvertently melting the plastic. Remove only the two silver screws at the outer ends. (The other black screws hold the led display to the board and loosening them might be a bad idea.)
I've had my '05 Corolla for about 3 years now, and the clock light is just now starting to go out. I'm gonna be working on it here soon. Like the way you present your work in this video, very clear and concise.
I followed your great instructions, tried it, no go at first, but just went over the solder points one more time, a little more slowly and presto, nice bright clock digits again. Thank you so much, young man!
Did this on my 05. The hardest part of the repair was getting the 2 screws out. I did not have a TORX, so used a small flat blade screw driver and pliers o n the handle. I used a 15 power Zeiss eye loop to see that at least one resistor had indeed a cracked looking solder joint. I heated each resistor with the soldering iron for good measure and each of those 30 pins or however many there are. Works like a GEM! No need to spend $144.00 for a rebuild unit on line or more for a new one. Thanks you!
Dude you're awesome. I was going to head to the junk yard to get one when I decided to look at how to remove it first. I found your video and did exactly what you said. And now I have a working clock. Thank you very much, I really appreciate you making this great instructional video. Great detail all the way through.
Thank you SO much! You probably saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars. My parking pass slipped down behind the dash. With your video, I was able to take the dash apart easily and get it back. The parking pass would cost me $400.00 to replaced I'm sure Toyota would have charged me hundreds. Great work, and thank you so much.
Cool! I just bought a 2003 Corolla 2 days ago and I just realize the clock was not working too so now this should help me bring life back into my corolla. Easy steps. Thanks
Ditto. Bought $12 clock with backlight, inside temperature and battery voltage. Corolla clock is dim in a bright day, even after I've fixed it as described.
Great presentation and explaining. My Mother-in-Law's 2006 Corolla hasn't had a working clock for the last couple of years. I watched this and fixed her clock in about 10 minutes.
I've been without my clock for a couple years now because I didn't want to spend the $400 on a new clock that every technician I went to recommended. I was able to fix it myself for $20. And I didn't need to add solder either. Thank you for this great video!
Thanks for the instruction! Clock hasn't worked for years in my daughter's '03 Corolla and I just did this today. Worked like a charm, clock is working again (for now). Hopefully it lasts. I appreciate the very clear directions on removing the dash!
Awesome! The clock works as good as new, now! I actually went ahead and added fresh solder, but without this video I would have never known about the fix. My video game console modding practice finally went to use for non-entertainment purposes! Thanks a lot, man!
Confirmed. This worked for me in 2018. However, I did break one of the plastic clasps that hold the clock main-body to the back plate (you'll see when you do it) so, I guess plastic gets brittle with age, who knew. One thing, be careful with the iron'ing, it just took a little. Just barely get the soder liquid, then back away. That worked for me. Great video, easy fix, Thanks!
I went to dealer but I was told to buy the whole set of clock. In fact, this is not true per this video in which it save significant amount of money about $400 in parts only. very good and clear in this presentation.
I haven't really been able to do a succeful solder, but my God after doubting if I could make it work, lone behold, all I had to do was touch the iron to the little connections for a sec to heat them up a bit and now it works again, only took 30 mins aswell!! Thanks 9 years later lol
Great job speaking clearly while explaining what you were doing and each step. And most of all taking the time putting your video together and to upload it. Certain people tend to complain or criticize what someone took the time make because it may not have helped them. My clock started dimming here and there until it became unreadable. I have been meaning to remove it but that's the life of a procrastinator haha. Thanks again for your video.
Hey Juni S. You've saved me $200AUD from getting a replacement one for my 2003 Toyota Camry Sportivo ACV36R. I done this tutorial of yours to get my dash speedo/ digital clock lighting up and it did the trick. Whilst I did reflow solder to the resistors on mine, but also reflow the solder to the voltage regulator and applied IPA on the connector pins. Works like new. :)
I was able to do this on my 2006 and it actually worked! I thought I messed up too when I was re soldering everything. This is coming from someone that’s never changed my own tire or changed my own oil.
Thanks, Juni. Would have never even tried if I hadn't seen video on this. Put up without a clock for couple of years. Also Wal-Mart auto section had 3M soldering iron with one skinny tip $6.77 , and plastic scraper/putty knife worked great as a pry bar. Thanks again, and stay out of trouble. :)
Holy crap, this worked! I didn't have a soldering tool, so I used a knife and a lighter (either old school or barbaric, you tell me). I couldn't believe this thing came back to life after months of being off. Thanks millions!
Thanks so much for this guide. My issue ended up just being the cable to the clock had come loose. Pushed that back in and the thing lit right back up. Saved me the cost and terror of using the soldering iron.
The best "how-to" video that I've ever used and the fix seems to work. Thanks and please do more like it. I like my '05 Corolla and want to keep it in good condition.
A big thank you! I followed your advice and heated up the 5 resistor connections. Bingo! The LED lights work now. BTW: I used a 30W Weller pencil tip iron. 2008 Toyota Corolla LE.
Thank you for showing this. I been having problems with my clock only working half the time. I don't mean two numbers. It went dim or completely off so I did what you did so far it works.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on fixing the clock issue! It started to drive me crazy when it sometimes worked, and the didn't on my Corolla. You worded and detailed everything perfectly. Thanks again!
Your videos are fantastic. The clock in my 03 Corolla hasn't worked for nearly a decade and I never took the time to even look into fixing it. Not only that, but your videos helped me replace the bushing where the shift cable attaches to the shift lever and the shift position indicator bulb. You don't happen to be familiar with the issue with Corollas where it kicks off the fuel filling pump five times every gallon when filling it do you? I imagine some kind of vent hose in the fuel filler neck is clogged
Thanks for the tutorials and very clear instructions! I actually came across this video while looking for help on replacing the AC panel's right side backlight bulb. I guess I can follow your instructions for removing the panel and taking it from there on my own, but it would be great if you could shed some light on this issue too (no pun intended ;). Cheers!
Thanks so much for this! I didn't have a soldering iron nor do I know how to solder. I used a heat gun instead and set it to its highest temp. I used it to heat up the entire circuit board for a few seconds (maybe 20 seconds or so) and it worked! I was swaying the heat gun back and forth as to not focus the heat in one area. So be careful with this cuz you might melt the plastic casing. Lol!
Thank you, can you please make a video on how to fix the CD player, mine is stuck and it doesn't take any action keep flashing and no cd movement, but the radio is working just fine
Wow~Thanks! I'm going to try this. I do wish you'd have talked more about what you have to do if just heating up those areas of old solder hadn't worked. I might actually be able to get rid of that old alarm clock that's been riding in my cup holder for the past 3 years...
Thanks my man! Just did this while at work and it worked np! Nice and simple. I did break a piece of plastic when taking off the housing that the clock fits into. It was a piece that goes to the one of the trays that opens up. It was a piece in front of the bottom right tray hinge. The bottom right was harder to pop out and I think at 1st I was pulling on the tray which is why it broke where it did. Very minor and when put back togther you can't even tell. I now have a working clock! Finally! I've only owned my 05 corolla for around 4 months now and the clock has only came on once that I've noticed and it didn't last long. Maybe 5-6 min. It's really been bothering me having a clock that doesn't work. Anyhow! This video made doing this very easy! Gotta love a nice, simple, straight forward tutorial. Thanks again! 👊 Ps. Also helped me with my gear shifter light bulb. You're deff the man! 😎 *EDIT* I got my clock working by heating up the solder points like in this video but unfortunately my clock only worked for 2 days. I took it back apart today (12/4/21) and added solder to all the spots I originally just heated up. Its working now and seems brighter also but that could just be me. I added a good amount of solder so we'll see how this holds up. Hoping it lasts!
I am SUPER thankful for this video. It has saved me from going to the mechanic! Thanks man! If you know how to fix a leak from the windshield let me know. The rubber is loose and it's leaking inside the car.

Thank you.
This 15 minute fix saved me over $300.
I was more willing to have a broken clock than spend the $$, and now it works perfectly.
Diz Gustipated glad to help save you money!
$300??? Were you going to replace it with a gold plated clock? Lol

I had gone to a pick a part and got a used clock. It didn't work either. Did what he did and fixed both clocks. Awesome

I took it back apart today (12/4/21) and added solder to all the spots I originally just heated up. Its working now and seems brighter also but that could just be me. I added a good amount of solder so we'll see how this holds up. Hoping it lasts!
So now, what we're gonna do, is go to the like button, and we're gonna do next is click it. Awesome video :)
Worked for my corolla 2005. Thank You. Greetings from Puerto Rico!
Easy, easy fix. Thanks for the video. Literally at max it is a 15 minute fix.
Daniel Pitts yeah it’s a quick fix. Thanks for watching and glad it helped
I am SUPER thankful for this video. It has saved me from going to the mechanic! Thanks man! If you know how to fix a leak from the windshield let me know. The rubber is loose and it's leaking inside the car.
I had my doubts, but I did it and it really worked, thanks Juni S.

Did exactly what he said - clock now works! Well done and thanks
