  • We only just recently filmed a video with Kristian Bugge and his duo, Gangspil, but we just couldn't wait to have him back on the show!
In this video, he plays the sønderhoning Æ Rømeser, and then another sønderhoning, Kaptajn Bille og Jordomsejlingen.
A sønderhoning is a type of folkdance originating from Sønderho, a village on Fanø. It's usually played by a violin, and is characterised by wide vibrato and sliding between notes. Another unique thing, is that the melody is in 4/4, while the dance is in 3/4.

Danish fiddling is very playful compared to Swedish fiddling and it is less heady than Norwegian, it is quite balanced IMO.
    Greetings from America 🇺🇲!
