What I've done during my first 3 hours of DayZ on official server: - spawned near Berezino - looted first houses, where I found a hatchet and BK-18 (sadly no ammo) - I could be an ear witness of a gunfight or someone forced to kill zombies - I think I'm lucky, because after looting first houses I found a police car, but I didn't have any SMG, so I only took a packet of shotgun slugs - soon after I found my double barreled shotgun, which I could load with slugs, when checking controls with it I accidentally fired 1 slug - looted more houses, in a shed I found a machete and Makarov, which I used later (my tactic is to check 1 chosen house, then cross a road to loot 2 houses from opposite side of a road and again crossing the street to loot 2 more houses) - found marks of human presence in one of the house, becuase there were barrels in the house, sadly besides shovel and hand saw nothing was interesting and didn't take anything (no backpack neither with me nor in the base) - I had my first encounter with zom zom while stuck in the door, killed with a machete - checked military tents on a crossing, nothing in there - went to a supermarket, got some stuff, backpack and ammo to Makarov, taught myself how to chamber a round without a magazine - I got out of market and I was attacked by group of zom zoms, shot 2 slugs and finished the rest with a machete - checked hospital, found out my character has blood group 0+, found some saline and made an IV, found some bandages too - after getting out I was again attacked by zom zoms, beat me up pretty hard (blood marker was red), hid in the house and shot them all with Makarov - looted some more houses and apartments, the best thing I found in houses was a splitting axe, which I took in place of BK-18 (still I didn't have any ammo) - checked police, got special police uniform and pump action shotgun, which I took instead of double barreled and Skorpion SMG, but without magazine it's not as useful - before logging out on the roof I played a bit with shotgun (no shooting, just aiming down the sights) and refilled Makarov magazine.
This was perfect logbook entry, which fits so perfectly! Like a military duty log or police shift logs etc. You were able to logout alive,, so nice job! Would hate to see an abrupt last message and your C.O's initials on top of your KIA date!
I only have 80 hours on this game, even though i have owned it since the day of its release. Now just recently i have started getting back into it so this guide has helped me sooo much!!
i laughed because at 3:25 he zooms in on a little petty water bottle after he just showed us a long dirt road it takes to get there. My character will already be limping like a zombie and after I drink that water I'll still die
i for my part (as a pc player) like to stay away from looting the big towns like cherno and elektro as they are picked clean most of the time and they seem to be crawling with hostile players and zombies. so instead im instantly heading west whenever i spawn there hittin balota airstrip (for military clothing and maybe an smg) komarovo and kamenka (for water a mosin + ammo maybe even a scope) theres also plenty of helicopter crash sites in that direction from there i move all the way to the evac zone in the south west border of the map where theres a big military camp with loads of zombies carryin military backpacks and yet another possible crashsite after im done with that im usually geared up well enough to make my way inland towards pavlovos military base (which is a bit of a questionable decision as this area seems to be crawling with wolves from there i keep headin north up to zelenogorsk which is once again home to some military grade loot and a well if im confident with my overall loadout i will make my way towards the airfield while always lookin out for helicopter crashsites in the area
You should definitely make a video like this one for Livonia this videos really helpful for new players and a guide for Livonia would be great for new players on console who just bought the DLC
This is what I needed to speed up learning dayz. I play all the survival games from ark and 7 days to don't starve. The struggle for me on a new one is learning the map. So this helps a ton. Thanks man.

clautech i know your pain. I found if you get a knife or cutting tool and a can of food straight away and head North your good to go. Loot zombies if you want food as well.
@@rayswoodshop4467 If you keep getting killed by bandits, it's better to just shoot people who are armed with a gun/melee weapon and ask questions later. If possible, knock them out and handcuff/tie them up.

I just got into this game and my god is the map huge. A good thing to do before jumping into a server is favouriting it and play on that one server if you plan on building shelters and burying stuff as it will only be on that server. I’ve got a shelter set up on a community and also a public server and I literally just loot around the towns and cities close around lol. I’m trying to work up enough courage and gear to go to an airfield cause I believe that’s where the best loot is.
This is a HUGE help. But one thing I noticed you said staroye being the closest place you can find a military camp. Isn't there a small camp around cherno, just north of the trainyard? I might be mistaken, I'm fairly new still.
Yes that is true near the construction site of cherno, only reason I said that Staroye was closer is because from elektro, Staroye would most of the time be your next step towards north west. You’re very right about the Cherno tents, just most of the time you’d only go there if you spawned in cherno, as they are nearly always empty due to being a high traffic area :) thanks for checking out the video dude!

I normally spawn in a field near a freaking forest. I just started playing again, my character lived like 5 days. I had food, decent backpack, guns with ammo and got randomly murdered by another player while prepping to hunker down for the night. So freaking toxic I hate that there's no warning of dangerous players and more than half don't use mics. Its so frustrating
Yeah I get what you mean haha! Took me a while to get used to the map but that will come with time. If you want an easy way to tell where you are inland, look for a certain type of building in that town and use that to remember where you are, it’s what I do and it works well :)
If you leave a server and join a new one, where do you spawn? I know they changed it so you dont spawn in the same place because of people server hopping for loot but where do you spawn in relation to where you were in the last server? You have all your gear but does it just send you back to the coast if you join a new server?

Go inland. Inland towns usually always have water pumps so thats not a problem but for food i reccomend killing wildlife and killing zombies in hope that they drop canned food. For guns, inland towns usually have way more bc coastal towns have been looted dry by freshies.
@@johntempleton3560 try visiting the farms. Barns sometimes have good loot but the fields will definitely have mushrooms near hay bales and you might find some cows. The cow is the second easiest animal to hunt because they stay in the open, let you get really close, and are dumb enough to return to the same field even if you don't kill them with the first shot.
I do enjoy a good video that helps others figure things out. So Kudos for the effort. Not sure if this is a UA-cam user thing or if it's UA-cam doing it but there is no sense in having to watch 3 commercials for a 10 minute video. Disgusts me that all videos are done this way when you can put the stupid ad to the side like it was originally. All it is is a way to make people pay for the same thing without having to be bombarded with ads. In short. We are a great platform but we want your money. So let's make it annoying until they pay us otherwise.
I could probably test the guns on the offline mode and see which ones are the best to choose from, I was also thinking of doing a guide on some good base locations and buildings that are worth building a base in for everyone :)
Have a Guinea pig to test how effective weapons are at multiple ranges, with and without ballistic vest, accuracy, fire rate, different ammo effectiveness slugs, buck, tracers, ap. And thank you for responding and asking
@@SourSweet After my first 10 hours I understand that knowing the map is everything. Once you do, you've learned a hell of a lot on the way. Tactics etc...It must be one of the most difficult games out there. If I like it, I'll never have to play another game.
