- Here is an in depth guide on how to get to North West Airfield (NWAF) in not only the quickest route, but the safest for 0.63 DayZ BETA Update!
I don't know the exact time it takes as it varies based on how heavy your character is. The fastest time I did it in, was - 27 Minutes - and that's with the new stamina bar!

Or just do like me, run north from the coast and after 2 hours realize you are still in the Berezino forest
I've many times ran half way to nwaf. Then by accident change my way then end up at the coast again xD
Or Just do like me, Start from Berenzino walk trought forest and landing in Elektro....
Or get a ship spawn and run west along the coast till you hit the barrier then run north until you hit the north west barrier. It's a long route but it never fails.

C'mon guys, this is clearly the best route for people who haven't played the game for as long time as u have... Give it a chance and go for it, people that haven't played the game doesn't know any route, its clearly hard for them to go thru woods and get lost instantly! but yet, i should recommend looting some building as medic, police station, supermarket's on the way there. Btw nice video :’)
Unless they meet someone experienced at the map and knows how to locate someone by land Mark's or buildings

Best route for noobs is Svetlo spawn, West on the tracks through Novo>Svero and south once you hit the field after the bridge. You literally can't get lost.

Yes ive gone thru several characters so far but its a nice aim to strive to make it there and get out with stuff. Along the way i get better.

My favorite route, Cherno -> Bolota -> Kemenka -> Up to Pavlovo base -> Pavlovo -> Zele base -> Vybor base-> NWAF.

It's funny to think I could get dropped into the woods on this map and know almost exactly where I am in 30sec. Experience is the most valuable asset in the game not guns or charm. Eventually you'll start to get it, it's a good feeling and an experience you don't really get from other games. There's a lot to love on DayZ

-Fuck- yes, me and a mate of mine made the trip, doing all the navigation in the dark too. Found the power lines and all the dirt paths in the rain. I constantly used the video from point to point, since we were "lost" in the dark in an area we've never seen before.

Just spawn in Svetlo and take the tracks west lol. It's way easier to follow. Maybe not quite as fast, but pretty quick none the less. Take a left through the big ass field after the little railroad bridge and boom, nwaf.

maybe it s not the shortest way but this is my favourite route: Elektro, Staroe, Guglovo, Novy Sabor, Stary Sabor, (sometimes Dichina MB), NWA.

Elektro (you get started off their with some decent loot and maybe a few people to travel with) -> Mogielvka (a little more loot, you should be armed and have backpack/food at this point) -> Stary and Novy Sobor (usually stay on the outskirts if I have some decent loot, but go into military tents sometimes) -> Kabanino (a little more loot) -> Vybor MB (you now should have some decent military/civilian loot) -> NWAF (PVP, competing character) -> Tisy if survived, and if I survive Tisy, go back to coast, give away gear, and repeat!
4 cans of soda and a can of peaches got me to the town before the airfeild
My videos will teach you how to do it with no food, water, compass or gps in 1 shot. Balota to NWAF= 9100 meters or 400 meters per minute.
Funny this is the route I take. Didn’t even watch the vid before I was just randomly running around once and found myself at NWAF. Ever since then this has been the route that I take
Best way to navigate to, getting familier with the map of cherno is easy when your knowledge becomes second nature, once you've spawned literally everywhere, your a familier to the forests, it's really just remembering where you are and have been
That was a really good transition into the airfield
I found the easiest way is to spawn at solnichty or a few clicks around and just head directly west, should take a decent time but on the way you should find a few towns and houses to get lucky to find suplies
From Electro follow the river to novy sobor and then its easy

Maybe the fastet Way and easy, but NOT the best Way :) --> for best Loot Locations get a Cherno Spawn -> NSAF -> Military Base -> Zelenogorsk -> Myshkino -> VYbor -> NWAF

@@JLKgg it s not the fastest either. you can spawn high berez, going to gorka trough woods, passing by altar and going between kabanino and grishino; or take your route and take some shortcuts by leaving roads. But yes, if you need roads, buildings or other landmarks it will be easier for beginner

Ja that is the first path i learned to get to NWAF...when i was still a noob about 4 years ago....wow now that i think about it the game has changed a lot sins then. i feel old

I've only been to nwaf once. Got shot 30 times. I'll stick to military checkpoints
Also, if you follow the same directions UP UNTIL you hit the "Twin Towers" at about 2:59/3:00 mark there is a little path you come up on. Its the green path. If you take that green path, it will take you all the way to the Airfield too. Probably a little quicker. Now the green path does stop at the road that leads to the airfield and then goes south of the airport BUT if you follow the road into the airport you will be fine. Sorry if anyone else has already called this.

a nice relaxing video. remided me of one of those World from Above series or Great British Rail Journeys etc.
If you get a svet/ novo spawn just keep following the main road west, it will take you through a couple towns for food and water and you’ll eventually end up with nwaf just south of you and tisy just north of you, plus if you want there’s a couple smaller military bases you can detour to on the way, izurvive is a great map to use as reference. Side note, items spawns are divided into 4 tiers, 1 being on the coast and 4 basically being only tisy military base, so if you just wanna go for the high tier stuff skip nwaf and go straight to tisy

This is why I like this game no digital navigation. It’s old school like Hank. Just follow the power lines take the end dirt road after Jed’s barn pass the old tractor and take a left...

we got total party killed last night due to an erant shot that not only brought a horde of zombies, but alerted the 2 people in the building we were attempting to hide from said zombies, and one of my guys used this route and got back up to the northern part of airbase before the zombie bodies had even despawned...im like wtf how did you get up there so fast and he sent me this link....might add the campers were still there and killed him again but still....lol great vid

NimaLema not really, the real good servers are the ones that aren’t easy peasy and are more on the vanilla side, when servers have npc traders, a money system, thousands of new guns, then thats when you know the server will be too easy, none of the servers that modded are hard enough, try some hardcore servers, they are where its at

I usually try get a spawn near Turovo or Svetloyarsk then shoot straight for Cernaya Polana once you get there shoot southwest north of Kpachoctab loot the military camp north east of the air strip shoot northwest passed Svergino and loot Troitskoe military shoot southwest straight and you'll be there in a jiffy while geared mabe with a baby KA or Viaga if not they spawn plenty of Sk's and Tisy is northwest of military airfield make sure to loot the north camp area its a hot spot for weapons in the airfield.

Good video...... but....... I can do it from Balota to NWAF= 9100 meters or 400 meters per min ( max run speed) with no food water, map, compass, or gps. I can teach anyone to do the same. Should have just looked west and ran. Which way is west? Easy, just look down at your feet! Your shadow was pointing west the entire time. (morning sun was in the east) Or shadow from bldg, tree, player, rock. Or you can use the clouds, sun, shadow, moon, stars, roads, power lines to navigates the map. Kudos for using the power line as a road. Power lines all start somewhere and go to towns to supply power. Best way to go on a very dark or rainy night as you can look up over head and use the light from the sky to see them on the darkest night.
But you can't spawn at Balota on vanilla severs... So you would have to run to Balota from East side of Cherno (which is the closest spawn to Balota) which adds another few thousand meters. Also getting East side of Cherno spawn is rare, whereas Berezino is a common spawn!
Really well put together video, I am on holiday right now and get back tomorrow. I have not played 0.63 yet and hopefully will try this route up tomorrow we should definitely play sometime though I am 13 years old

For new players I recommend maybe getting a base going so you have a place to re-arm yourself. The problem with the airbase is the amount of deadly players so you want to go in at night and turn on and off a flashlight every so often to get your bearings and loot it that way.
I just started playing DayZ a week ago on PS4, this really shows off the scale of the map! I wish there was a way to fly around like this just to explore the map.

Kami route up to rog down to the lake follow the road until you hit the 1st town staroye then follow the left road until you hit guglovlo then follow the road to novo then starry etc and there tents to get equipped on the road and theres along of animal spawn on this route and water pumps
the fastest route will always be a straight line though

Disagree, running north directly from Cherno will take you to rogovo and VMC and then straight to NWAF, or elektro to mogalevka to stary to NWAF
xoTipsy You’re right, but when I made this video you couldn’t spawn at Cherno. So the closest spawn would’ve been Elektro which would have taken longer to get to Cherno, therefore at the time my route was the fastest. But thanks for reminding me I will make an updated version at some point!

I just spawn left or right side of cherno, and run up to nadezhdino then it’s literally a straight shot taking the road up to rogovo and from there u go to vmc/kab and up to nwaf. It sounds like a lot but once you learn exactly how to get there and take the route a lot it’s actually rlly easy

We made an outpost me and my friends at bay tikhaya and the rest of the group made their actual base at novo now i gotta run from barlota all the way to novo i think the meat is spoiled in the tent but i have a couple of food on me imma travel via shore so i think ill be fine

I am pretty sure you will be not able find big backpack and you will die hungry becouse not enough building on this road. Next time go upper berezino straith to the severo loot and than just turn airfield with weapon and lot of stuff not as freshspawn but how i said you will die.. you cant reach withou 7 cans this point by this rout
You don’t need a backpack to survive. Berezino is one of the biggest coastal towns... of course you will find enough food.

You make a fair point, I mean although this believe it or not is the fastest route to NWAF. Might not be the smartest if you’re on a popular server! Just FYI I’ve been playing dayz since May 2014 and am closing in on 4000 hours so regardless of how many hours you have, I certainly have enough hours to know the fastest routes.
