If any new players are looking at this and thinking about picking the game up; First off I highly recommend. Haters are gonna say it’s the buggiest game on the market but I just haven’t seen that side of it, maybe it’s because I play on a slightly modded hardcore server but it runs extremely well - better than I thought. Second, walk into it expecting to go through a whole new “Dark Souls” learning curve and if you’ve never been through something like a souls game just steel yourself for an unforgiving challenge.
You’re going to starve, you’re going to dehydrate, you’re going to get lost, you’re gonna lose your gear, you’re gonna die. Simply the nature of the beast and unfortunately before you can properly prevent a mistake, you will have to make it, die and then learn from it.
First time I got some actual gear and food to survive, I skinned a chicken, shortly after I took a sip from my water bottle with bloody hands - got cholera. The hospital was picked clean of pills. Died shortly after. Never recovered my shit.
First time I ever made it inland to get the REAL loot, I got scratched by a zombie.. no biggie though because I had rags - non-disinfected rags. Bam, got a wound infection. High fever and blurry vision with constant water loss, not a hospital for literally kilometers. Ended up using the one chambered round in my handgun to end the run there.
Bring your perseverance because this game is all about learning from your mistakes, but I love the challenge and it’s a hell of a vibe when you’re playing, alone in the quiet just listening to the howling wind in a hollow world, it’s wicked and can get your heart to race when you get yourself into some trouble.

The first time inward story seems pretty accurate, got this game a few days ago and this happened yesterday to me. but with a steak knife.
Also never accept water from strangers, some asshole gave me gasoline instead of water and i died

@@IronMan-vh1yo the game is spectacular. Heart racing many times. Although pc is much better to play on so thats why I sold my ps4 and tv and put it towards a desktop. Will cost me a round 2.3k but dayz and rust will run great. Much better then console and have all the extras in modded servers.
Yes if you die you can find your body and collect ya stuff but I think you have an hour to find your body. May have change idk. Also use Facebook to help fi d some good friends or roam around being friendly until a group take you in or even build a group over time. If your new watch tutorials to learn faster the 1st time I played dayz I had no clue what I could or couldn't do. Its a very detailed survival simulation
i have a good tip for you, the best item in the game: multivitamins. people ignore these, but when consumed and the pill icon appears, you are resistant to the main 3 viruses. you can drink from rivers, eat/drink with blood on your hands, withstand the rain, eat raw meat etc. and be completely free of risk of infection!!
Im new to the game and I think it had a major update recently. So is your tip still the case? I just got over cholera twice.
@@mikster313 It should still work! Just make sure you aren't already sick. To avoid cholera dump out all the water in any bottle or canteen you find as there is a 50/50 chance it will have cholera, or just use chlorine tabs to purify it. Wells can be drank from safely and also fill up bottles and canteens without risk of infection so familiarize yourself with them. I just stared playing about 8 days ago myself so I hope this helps!
@@theoglilmudskipr1941 Thanks for the reply. Now I play the game and get colds constantly. Im popping vitamins when I’m not sick every so often and then when I do get sick, I’m taking the tetracycline. I get sick super often and I’m wondering if I’m just cold all the time? I have no clue.
@@mikster313 Being cold and wet is what leads to being sick. Dry your clothes off and stay warm to fight off sickness faster, try not to be drenched and make sure your gear has high or best insulation. You can get infections which counts as sickness from using rags that havent been disinfected as well to mend bleed status. I think if you use a pristine knife to cut said rags you wont get an infection from them but Im not 100% sure on that part. Eating raw meat, or eating with bloody hands can get you sick as well. You can also get sick by being close to a player who is sick without a face covering on as well.
@@theoglilmudskipr1941 also when wet always ring out your clothes then make a fire and u get dry pretty much instantly just drop everything in front of the fireplace so ur character is naked wait like 7 seconds then put everything back on
Tip: Bears and wolves can't follow you into water.
Wolves also dont go on most large rocks. Dont know if that's changed
Wolfs and bears can also be killed by bullets in a gun when shooting them
Tip: when making a server, don't put bear spawns in the chicken spawn.

If you're standing next to a fire to dry out, remove your clothes and drop them next to you. They will dry much faster.
Standing by a fire until a + appears next to your temp will make you more resilient to the cold.
If you roll your car, a wrench (not the adj one) will right it again (not tested this myself yet).
Instead of carrying 10 blades, carry 1 and a sharpening stone.
Putting a mag in your hand and holding R will reload it providing you have the right ammo in your inventory.

One of my favorite things I found out, climb on a car ruin (the ones you find randomly around) and you can kill zombies on top of it's hood but they can't hit you. Just don't fall off!
At military bases you can jump on those walls that look like boxes and they can't get you there either then I just headset every zombie with suppressed pistol and loot everything worry free just be quick incase ppl are close by

Only months? I'm sure you learned something from this, probably more than one, if you only have months of play time. Rav was wrong about the heat through backpack though, he states heat from items doesn't transfer through a backpack, but do through clothes, after 1.10 heat DOES transfer through the bag now, only inaccuracy, but I won't fault him because it's been the way he states forever, until now.

Tips: 1) if your holding down a building when someone is trying to kill you place a glow stick or light on the bottom of the stairs so when they are about to push you, you can see they’re shadow coming up.
2) if someone is about to come kill you, do the laying down emote and pretend your dead. It will look like your dead. (Works better when there’s dead zombies by you or other dead players)
3) if your running into a gun fight and have a sniper or extra gun on you, drop it into a bush or somewhere, where you will remember. That way if you die in the fight you can run back to the extra gun. Pointless to fight with multiple guns when only using one. (Works best when your close to a spawn point)
You can eat most of a fruit/vegetable and still cut out the seeds from the last bite. This works on cooked vegetables as well.

sliding down a ladder will cut you, wearing gloves will prevent this.

if ur in pvp with someone and u know hes cut. Dont push him eventually he'll have to bandage and as soon as u hear the bandage noise? PUSH him immediately. Until u hear that noise though wait and be ready cuz he has no choice now but to bandage or rush u

6:03 The biggest fish I ever caught IRL, was when I showed up with zero bait, lol.
I used a small piece of plastic litter, and caught the tiniest fish.
Then I used that to caught a medium sized flounder.
Then I used that to catch the biggest 2 catfish I've ever seen in my life.
This was over 40 years ago when I was 14 though, so I have no idea how much anything weighed.

I've filled water bottles with gasoline, poured it into a car, filled up with water again and drunk it. I've never disinfected a water bottle. Just empty and refill with clean water. And I have never gotten sick. If it's just luck idk, but then I'm the luckiest guy in the world 😂
You can walk/run half-sideways with W+A / W+D and use freelook to look directly behind you.
That way you can see when a zombie following you is attacking you, and if you run right as the zombie is attacking, they will not hit you.
You could theoretically run from them indefinitely if you didn't die of hunger, thirst or of the cold :)
From 1-2 zombies yes, but 6 zombies push other in the direction you would dodge.

Nothing is for keeps in dayz, allways getting better with each life. All we can do is delay our deaths a lil bit longer each time we learn somthing.

I have ab 50 game hours in and Ive never played for more than 30 mins. I just die due to starvation because there is absolutely no Loot in the game.

@@baileechapman6416 smash that starter fruit it gives you right away and get some clothing on asap. when you are freezing your hunger is plummeting. jus dont sprint/jump if possible, get you some clothing while vigorously searching sheds/houses for a blade.
To lower hunger and sound, i walk pretty much everywhere and crouch near city entrances. Also helps you to be more observant. Biggest drawback is ofc time and occasionally rain.
I have always dumped the water from a bottle but never knew you could still get sick from not disinfecting it thank you guess I have been lucky

@@zimon7095 if you find vitamins, keep em, if you pop one right before you drink from those containers you can pretty guarantee yourself safe, dont know if it works with food but id assume so 🤷♂️

Ruined Heat packs can also be added to cooking pots with water in them, boil the water and you can reuse the heat packs.
Dismantle your gas stove/cooking pot/fuel can after use, as server crashes and restarts will 99% of the time delete the contents.

Taking off shoes makes you nearly silent is huge for gaining the drop on someone
That tip where you hack off the end of a shotgun will come in handy as well as firing both barrels at the same time. I usually use the double barrel when I'm attempting to ambush someone (do what I have to do to survive). I'll be able to save more space and have the double barrel as a backup instead of my main armament. 10/10 Rav.

lightin a fire in a house is the best decoy one can have. Many geared players will actually go for houses with smokin chimneys slowin down to peek through the windows which gives you free loot if youre sittin a couple hundred m out with a mosin
If you have two radios drop one in the cabin. Say some stuff and watch em storm in.
About finding water in bottles and canteens, DO NOT spill it if you have no other option of calming your thirst (such as decent supply of sodas or other canteen/bottle). It's better to risk getting cholera then dying for sure because of dehydration.
Or just take a multi vit and you can drink pond water and eat raw meat. I still clean the bottle though.
Another small tip when cooking meat. If you have a lot put some in the smoking section and then switch them to the cooking section then a slot becomes free. It will help decrease the cooking time if you have a large ground and a lot of mouths to feed.
Thanks for the smoke nade tip. I've had times where this would have been useful.
3:13 this is no longer a good idea, as if you just let it bleed you will now get wound infections. This can be prevented by bandaging the cut with a disinfected bandage, but you will quickly end up with no bandages.
*Bandages can be disinfected with alcoholic tincture and iodine tincture*
Honey is antibacterial, garlic as well iirc.
Black pepper can stop bleeding but is risky because of infection.
Hair can also help to bandage a would but you have to keep it clean.. I wouldn't suggest this in real world but in game being able to cut hair with sharp rock to press into wounds would be cool if it was possible but risk of infection if not sanitized. Fire and any metal tool to cautorize would, also wouldn't do that. Ouch, super infection maybe.
Applying pressure to wound option and being able to move to help stop blood loss would be excellent.
@@PolarIre putting dirt on a wound should be a option for stopping bleeding too, because it can irl, but this should garuntee wound infection.
@@ploxarino9921 if we could heat up a blade or rock and cautorize wounds I'd be happy with that.. but ies should be sanitized to prevent infection along with wound. Mgs 3 had a wound management system and order of operations for burns, cuts, broken bones. Burncream, bandage. Disinfect, suture, bandage.
Day z could be much more relentless experience if weapons did damage bases on pointieness, blunt, or bullet.
If it was that way people would die more often, imo.
We'd need classes that players could pick from or books players can find to boost knowledge.. literally performing surgery in base on classes who get hurt. Making cars more easily repaired to just be in running condition. All the ideas I have day z would have to release another game based on more modern city and countryside region.
The maps building and forest are alright but if cities where like American suburbs it'd be hopping back yard fences and triggering solar powered driveway lights and zombies running toward the light yelling. Player runs into an American themed house around 200,000 range. These homes are the best because in America homes on the same block usually match in cost and design. Medium sized so plenty of room to spawn loot, hide from zombies.. Im trailing off.

I don't even waste my iodine or alcohol tincture right away to clean rags or bandages I use a rag if he ends up getting wound disease most of the time if the rags worn or pristine your fine as Is you can disinfect your wounds within 10 min or so and it will cure you also you can disinfect wounds first and then use a rag works both ways
A smarter idea would be to save space, use iodine or alcohol on a sewing kit, now you have a clean multi tool to stitch close wounds and repair clothes, etc.
open your boot and hood when driving to reduce or stop damage depending on the bullet type if someone tries shooting you from front or behind
I’m guessing only applicable if you’re on a 3rd person enabled server and you’re fleeing to your car for a getaway
Oh hey, they changed the ump45 animation to include the h&k slap. Your character just pulled back the charging handle once before they changed it. Thats amazing. Also, the reload of the ump is slightly faster than the mp5, because the character doesn't regrab the mag after it is released. You just pull it out in one motion.
These tips are good and all but I can never find loot and starve before I can make it to the next town. Everywhere is always swept clean -__-
Don't rely on scavenging to get food. Improvised knives are your best friend. Make one ASAP. Every town has a chicken spawn, which gives you a reliable source of food. Once you get a gun, you can start hunting.
@@alliedanchor8864 yup ive just begun playing on xbox. Chickens are everywhere, cook them up each time you get one. Not tried fishing yet though.
Today is the first time ive managed to reach northewest airfield.
Logged out after playing for hours.
Got decent clothes and kit, scraping by on the odd bits of food.
Still got no better gun than the police shotgun and a repeater carbine.
Binoculars paired with a compass are handy for navigating with. You can scan in the distance for your best route to take to wherever youre heading
Fishing is the best way to go. Fish has more calories than any other meat in the game. It takes a while but get 4 mackerel and cook it up and you are golden for a while. Only issue is you need a back pack or better clothes. Fish takes up 1x3 inventory where chicken is 1x2
Tip pressing the button to pick up off the ground will sometimes put items in a pot so check your pot before boiling water I accidentally boiled 2 full magazines
Game is great on console, there's no build guide you have to just know the recipe like one hour one life. If there was journal's that spawned with advice or plastic cards that spawned on book shelfs or in dead survivor bodies (not players, "random dead surviver") these plastic cards have tips pertaining to topics, fire, water, cooking, food and water management; inside baseball caps, beanies, any hat type. Each hat can have pockets sown into it, military helmet get an external pocket for smokes, survival cards, matches, small items, ghillie masking. Pockets can be added but inside the hats the space is limited to card type, 1 box matches, pocket knifes-small type, tiny 1 blade knife.
Spawning of small stone could be more frequent, when in the outdoors there are stones in fields, maybe a variety oh stone amd some just crumble into powder which can be smelled with a smelter out of a barrel to make iron, copper, gold bars. Gold to repair nvgs, obsidian.
Longer nights and days with reduced food burn.. it feels like day slips away half an hour to early.. makes for tense moments, life's can be short existence... so idk.
Dayz could get better and better if devs keep updating it.. if engine that runs day z can handle it.
Not a clue how much a game can handle for mechanics, assets, and all that before it breaks. Far cry 3 showed limits of objects per map chunk so you had to build a large city on 4 chunk meeting to maximize object count.. but that was years ago. Developers probably have way more freedom creating.
More detail, forest and country side updates is what I hope for. Random power station kicking on and power light up cities in rolling blackout would be cool, which could aggro all the zombies in the area. More zombies in forest but just a few randomly.. or horde walking straight.. more like 28 days later.
Day dream about how wild day z could get.. I can do this all day.
Edit: battlefield 3 had destructible buildings, smaller buildings walls collapsed and rubble damaged players, still in game only many buildings in game like on siege of Shanghai won't collapse.. main tower animation for other buildings.
If you could get c4 or dynamite in day z to collapse towers into a base wall and build with concrete rubble, dozer that is a map editor.. diggers, military bridges.
Dayz Squads Mountain Man
There's beacons inland the further you go, players on servers can chose the map chunk that generates further inland where no players are. A.i. that can spawn enemies like giant boars, bears, packs of wolf's, deer.. reindeer migration, elk..
Left for dead zombies... Best zombies.
The danger from a.i. bandits like mgs 3 a.i. and environment could help players band together. Dragons and tanks, the road..
Zombie animals, red dead online. Bears where like fallout bears..
Custom servers with easy to understand difficulty rating, each server diffrent... community can vote on entire server chunk to be blended together for continent.. mmo phase. Of the serverbunch. . Space flight. Moon. Mars.. joke.
Edit: need more small game like rabbts, squirls, birds, mountain lions,wolf's, fox, pheasant, cordage from grass in fields or tree roots with rocks, which can spawn around rivers and rock piles near rivers. Along em there's always sharp rocks. More shrubs, spreading shrubs. Certain food like rabbit eat doesn't give fat calories which could be a small sliver of health along side the heart. Vitamin c from none poisonous trees, options for more poisons plants and mushrooms.
3 long sticks, 8 long sticks and rope makes a smoker, place meat and veggies on smoker, add canvas, tarp or animal pelt to smoke meat faster which is good for 7 days. Fish provides oil. Stones can be ground down with flat rocks next to rivers to make knifes amd axes. Cordage cloths from plant's, pelts can be tanned with animalparts and water (kinda dark, sry), log from a tree that has no bark could be used with a flat stone to remove fat and then place in animal parts brine in large clay pot depending on game size.. scrap off fur. Use log to make buckskin.
Snakes, mountain elephants..
More ready access to vehicles like books that can guide players through restore but thier rare or at library sometimes. Farming book, medical aid and cards which improve health item effectiveness. Character sheet that you can pick stats like morrwind... so more agility and lessstrength.. willpower to resist passing out. Random thought,
Fallen trees make bugs players can eat, mark beetles,grasshoppers in the morning amd dew on grass. Animals feed on morning cycles and rest in grass beds sometimes. Hunt, chicken coups.. barbe wire and logs/sticks makes wire fence to pen farm animals. Rope a cow or two and ranch. Grass and scythe make bundle dry in 3 days. Spiders, scorpions, river bugs, dragon flies, butter flies, and collector trays.
Building options beyond square like in game building as bud option if terrain is flat.. let players make cities.

Rivers could produce glass bottle which could spawn on ground in shallow water by the shoreline of large bodies 9f water in piles of 10 sometimes more depending on the rng. Sometimes you find a few whiskey bottles, bottles from a couple cases, if ground decoration assets could be picked up even rivers pebbles or mud if paint texture was considers either or. Grass could be moss. Even leafs could be tinder or combustible but make darker smoke if still green. Like burning green tress or busses you make more smoke while dry stuff is more clear.
Super harsh storms with pelting rain and tornados, hail stones that do minor damage with knockout. Coast could have stronger winds to push against players walking for faster pace, less Stat drain, and currents in rivers and ocean.. that are reasonable, and not crazy!
Would devs take suggestions?
It's thier game...still fun to think of mechanics

That last tip is a life saver!! I just died from drinking from a “pristine water bottle” lol i even emptied it out and refilled it and i kept losing health until i died 😅 NOW i know to disinfect lol banks man! There's so many tiny things to remember that make a big difference 💪

Really recommend turning the music volume down a tad and/or your voice volume up a tad. I found myself having to struggle to hear some of your vocals at times.

Because people don’t spend enough time to understand it and get the full experience.
Great games with gigantic learning curves and no tutorial modes will always get a low rating.

If your sick from human meat and have the giggles you can get rid of it by eating multivitamins and tetracycline at the same time. Takes a couple but works.
I've been playing DayZ for a couple of years now, Im blown away from how much I learned from this vid. Burying dead zombies? Seriously? I try to avoid killing them around my base but sometimes it's unavoidable

Question for everyone, say you're wandering around looking through houses, etc, and you randomly see someone lotting close to you, do you trust said person that you walk upon, or do you kill them immediately regardless? Really interested to see what you guys do.
Depends if they are really geared, if they are, I will usually use vc first, if he looks partially geared or a complete fresh spawn, I will probably just walk up to him and say *hey*
Watch them and see if they have a gun in hand . Then proceed to them from behind making sure I have some cover if no gun but keep yours ready . Then say hi . If they get a gun out then bye bye . Remember to make sure he has no friends too .

lol mine as well. If you spawn in impoverished cities sometimes the starving dead all around and stone knives are all you got. That character had like 3 diseases and die from wound infection from a rag lol

You should do a melee weapons tier list
You can reload magazines in your hand without having to drag the bullets into the combine portion of the hands
Also if bleeding and have no rags or bandages. You can heal yourself with a sewing kit
You can also disinfect said sewing kit with tincture.
The cloud thing will help me a lot.

I don’t know if this is a tip really but I found an extra backpack and I have been just carrying it in my hands but I fill it with stuff too.
if you are fresh, carry an extra item of clothing in your hands for the same purpose ;)

Putting a backpack in a crate and stashing it is pretty awesome.
To clarify the grenade tip, a grenade WILL explode in your hands if you drop it unpinned and pick it up without repinning it
You can use certain bushes in Livonia to hide while lying down and no one can see you
You can hide things in rubbish areas
You can climb trees and hide in them
You can stash stuff on top of trees

My tip, build improvised shelters rather than tarp shelters, and build it in a group of bushes with the back facing towards where a player may be most likely to approach it from.

actually i think zombies do have stamina, maybe added after the video was posted
there are times i run from them and they seem to slow down a lot, and run fast again
or maybe its because they're going uphill, and slow down while i still run the same speed

Just two pointers. Firstly and it's just a nitpicking, it's not a hunting shop, but rather groceries as that's what's written over the entrance. Secondly, I always empty the water containers I find, but I never disinfect them and I'm yet to get any disease from them, so I don't think it's a necessary step and emptying them is enough.

Playing on console though ive tried my pc as well. I think its meant to need the tincture but not implemented yet for console as a buddy of mine tipped me onto this. Honestly i just use charcoal tabs if possible within a full container, multi vitamins, and/or tetracycline pills. Those seem to be full proof at least for consoles. Even without charcoal tabs you'll be fine so long as you use the other two.

Watched over a 1,000 hours of day z gameplay, I finally have it! Started playing a few days ago and instantly went braindead. Know most of it but been trying to meet up with my twin brother irl in day z and haven't reached each other yet. But think I've found a way with the sun and compass.
Excllent vid man, but you missed Chlorine tabs, which have the same effect as disinfecting the bottle and makes the contents safe so even if youre not near a well the water in them can still be drunk!
i use tabs on my water barrel when its full, always wondered if rain contaminated it

Bruh I’ve played for over a year and never knew you could craft rope out of guts
If you put food in the smoking slot and cook slot, after you cook meat from the cook slot move the smoke slot meat down to the cook slot and they will instantly be cooked, and saves time.
