I'm a 51 year old white dude sitting in my easy chair and I got my head and shoulders poppin' ... love this song! He's an amazing guitarist.
53 over here and doing likewise!
Hey I'm 74 and it's what we used to call a butt wiggler. You be wiggling in your seat if you don't get up and dance.
White, Black, Brown, Yellow, Green...doesnt matter your color because good music is good music! But yes, I'm jamming right there with you!
55 here! 😀
Also 51..and this reminds me of the roller rink 💯
As a child of the 70s raised on radio, I can tell you that this song meant a lot. ❤️
Yes! In our souls forever; he has so much great R&B and Jazz, but THIS is the one ❤
happy days best wishes from uk
Born in the 60s raised in the 70s. Best time to be alive with music.
*Turn your love around " another great one of his That's him playing the guitar, he's fantastic
I'd forgotten about this one ... sooo good!
Both songs are on my playlist and played regularly!
Yep. The horns on “Turn Your Love Around” are legit.
@@BClarke Jerry hey !
George Benson and Al Jarreau were my mom's 2 favorite singers in the early 80's. Many a weekend morning would wake up hearing their songs on the record player.
Then i guess you were more than thrilled when they did an album together
Coincidentally they played one of my favourites by Al Jarreau ,'Moonlighting ' on the radio here in the U.K. this morning and now George Benson 'Give Me The Night ' .Bliss.Took me right back to when they first were released. Your Mum knew great songs when she heard them!
George and Al are my boys 😊
Asia I can see that you don't have a dull moment with BJ, he is true comedian. I like how he keeps dancing and rocking even long after the music has stopped 😂😂😂
I love the fact that you’re talking about rollerskating with this song. In the video, George Benson is leading a line of roller skaters outside at the beach, singing and playing his guitar.
George Benson, one of the prides of Pittsburgh, PA. Another great song from him is "Turn Your Love Around".
I'm from Pittsburgh too. Mr. Benson was friends with my uncle.
A classic song that I could listen to over and over again! How can you not move to this! 😊
Released August 9, 1980.
42 years and STILL gold!!
This was written by Rod Temperton, who wrote some of Michael Jackson's hits, including "Thriller" and "Rock With You." Many of Temperton's songs are about a night out, just with the setting changed. One of his biggest hits is "Boogie Nights," a song he wrote for his band Heatwave. That one is about a disco-rific good evening.
Quincy Jones produced this track and assembled the top-tier musicians to play on it. There's a lot going on, with different synthesizer sounds, strategic backup vocals, and echo on Benson's guitar riffs.

Those background vocals are signature Quincy.
Oh, hey Metal Mark. Saw you in the live tonight man. Take care.
@@scottvanhille5688 Thanks Scott. You take care too.
Let's not forget "Thunder Thumbs" Louis Johnson on bass! My favorite bass player!
@@stevegonzales8771 Abe laboriel on bass on this one !
His early stuff (Breezin-1976) is world class and highlights his extraordinary guitar pickin'! "This Masquerade" is perfect! Also, he did "Greatest Love of All" FIRST! A great rendition as well!
This Masquerade is a fantastic song! Turn your love around is another one man we use to skate our asses off to George Benson back in the day.
Listened to Breezin all through College years.
'Breezin' is probably my favorite, 'On Broadway' is terrific too
Oh how I miss music like this! I want to go back to the 70's and 80's!
Me too
The LEGENDARY Mr George Benson
And much respect to Quincy Jones for his great production.
I loved going roller skating with my teenage kids and skating to this song. MJ's "Off the Wall" & Diana Ross "I'm Coming Out". Great music. When I was a kid going to the rink it was more organ music like "Apple Blossom Time" Now 73 I have my memories.
His song" Kisses in the Moonlight " is phenomenal. It just never got the airplay it deserved. It is indeed a beautiful ballad.
This was written by the same guy who wrote "Thriller" (Rod Temperton). Enough said!! 🔥🔥
Asia & BJ, you’ll love is “On Broadway” and "This Masquerade"!!!
How can one man have that much talent?
I’ve been lucky enough to see him live, I’ll never forget and I’ve been to many concerts. The one thing about his music for me is just the way it makes you feel 🔥
Great reaction guys! And yes, this is definitely a roller skating song. My daughter rented a skating rink for the family including my brother's fam. And everyone had a great time! And this was one of the songs we requested to be played. And Asia and BJ, there's a video of George Benson along with a bunch of people skating in a park and George is playing the guitar while skating. You got to check it out! He has a great catalog of music as others have mentioned. Looking forward to more George Benson!
Yessssss! I commented before I even watched that I hoped they did the video with it.. but they didn’t and I was like 😟Oh how i hope they go back and do it..🤞🏼🤞🏼 Surprised more comments didn’t say it, especially since they were talking about roller skatd! I mean
George literally bam! Hits you on the eyeballs in his white suit, twirling on skates with bass/guitar in hands! As I’m
Sure you know..
@@kimberlinibambini1988 Like you, I was hoping for the video too! With few comments about that video, it seems a lot of people haven't seen it. It just blew me away when I saw it! Roller skating and playing a guitar....WOW!!! I do hope they consider reacting again with that particular video. Everybody's gonna love it!!!
George Benson is nightlife Music cruising music Made a sound all his own blending his voice with his guitar excellent Jazz fusion with dance ❤
I've always thought the backup singers on this song were 🔥🔥🔥!!!
Patti Austin was singing the female backup vocals on “Give Me The Night” She also sang with Michael McDonald, and James Ingram to name a few.
George Benson has a mean jazz guitar and he shows it in this tune....I really love his jam. I miss real jazz players like George. Thanks. A treat, for sure.
It’s just an all around great song to groove too. No matter what color you are. Love this music. They don’t make music like this any more.
I luv George Benson so much it hurts. Watch the video - 🔥. Benson: On that Prince, Alicia Keys, George Clinton & Nile Rodgers. Transcendent. In the music vid: Benson wears a keyboard-guitar, in a suit, playing the instrument while rollerskating. 1 Of the top music videos, ever.
I had a summer with George with this album. Loud in car cruising. ❤
That genuine "I'm loving this and having amazing fun" Smile in this young woman's face says it all in what's missing a lot in todays music it's like a "How come I haven't been this happy before" sunshine of a smile that we all deserve to these days. Bless you Two and I hope this journey into our world listening to the classics keeps you as happy as it did for us back in the day this song in particular because I used to force (And argue with) my older brother to replay it on the boombox when I was a kid (12 yrs old).😃😃👍👍
Yes it was a disco era, even though he is considered a Jazz artist. Just saw him just recently and did all the big hits, still sounding the same at the age 79th.
"And the beat goes on" by the Whispers is another great song 🎵
George Benson is an American guitarist, singer, & songwriter. He began his professional career at the age of 19 as a jazz guitarist. He covers different genres or styles such as jazz, pop, R&B & scat singing. His Breezin' album was one of the biggest selling of all time. He has such a smooth mellow voice. He has had so many great hits both singing & instrumental such as "This Masquerade", "On Broadway," "Breezin'", "The Greatest Love Of All", "Love All The Hurt Away," "Turn Your Love Around," "Inside Love," "Lady Love Me," "20/20," "Shiver," "Kisses In The Moonlight", "Affirmation" etc.
I used to listen to him all the time in the 70's! Great singer and guitar player!
my favorite George Benson song is Turn your love around, great song
This song reminds me of the summer of 1980! Fun times.
Had this single on 45! 😊 Another Rod Temperton classic. And George Benson is a total guitar genius and legend.
How is this the first time y’all hearing this…he is a legend…many more of his songs you need to listen to…
This music could make you glide on the dance floor with your girl! It is an absolute masterpiece!
I absolutely love this song! Never thought I'd see yall react to it! George Benson is awesome. Here's a few of my other favorite Benson recordings:
California Dreamin'
Summertime (live at Carnegie)
Ode to a Kudo
Take Five
Octane
El Mar
I especially think yall would really dig that live "Summertime" one on the Carnegie concert album and his "California Dreamin" rendition from the White Rabbit album
George Benson is amazing and you’re right…this would fill up the dance floor!
George Benson is one of my favorite guitarist’s! He does a song off the Breezen album “Lady” witch is my all time best song ever! When I’m in a horrible mood happy sad or whenever it brings me up! And it’s an instrumental! ❤
One of my fave tunes...love George Benson...talented man!!!
Love his Guitar playing. That's classic George Benson. No one else sounds like it. You must hear This Masquerade George Benson.
Ah yes, George Benson. Love him and his music. He’s from my part of the world. Great music and a very cool dude. More please!!!
Also, Have you done any Anita Baker music yet!! She’s a doll and her music stirs my soul!! Please check her out!!!
When one of THE greatest jazz guitar players ever can record a catchy Pop tune, well, ya got some talent!
Great song and album! Quincy Jones production! Top drawer players including Lee Ritenour guitar Herbie Hancock electric piano Greg phillinganes keyboards John Robinson drums Abe Laboriel bass Jerry Hey horns and Paulinho da Costa percussion!
Thanks for listening
George guitar skills is one of the best.
I got to a see him in the late 70s. Such a fantastic show. You could tell that he absolutely loved what he did.
You gotta check out George's cover of, On Broadway.
Another song written by Rod Temperton!
My grown children are proud to say George Benson was their first concert. My husband and I were supposed to go with friends but they canceled last minute. So we took our 10 and 12 year old daughters. It was an amazing concert!
Hey Asia and BJ! This is my jam! My 4th Grade English and History Teacher got me on this song! She was my favorite teacher because she always played lit music. I have this on my playlist! I was singing to the end of the song.
I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG! It came out in June 1980...the same month that I graduated from high school. You really want to hear it? Check UA-cam so you can listen to the a cappella version. It's crazy. You'll love it!
Yes yes yes!!!!! My time!! ❤ George Benson is so talented; his jazz work is phenomenal, as is his R&B. “Turn Your Love Around”, “Breezin”, “Love X Love”, “This Masquerade”, “Affirmation” and more!!
Not only does George Benson have a beautiful voice, he also gave a wonderful performance. This is a live performance "George Benson - The Greatest Love Of All (Live Montreux 1986)" This man has an amazing discography, and his music spanned across many genres. A beautiful career. Lots of goodness yet to come🤗🎶
My mom actually hired a babysitter for us kids to go to this concert with my dad. This was adult party music, jazz and great skate music too!
I love George Benson, my favourite album is "In flight" I think it was released in 1977. It has more of a jazz vibe like a lot of his earlier stuff
Oh, this brings back great childhood memories. Love George Benson.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wife here.., I was a very young child when this was popular.., which gave me a paticular love for what my Husband and I have dubbed "Urban Night Soinds"...That R&B with that AMAZING Jazz influence..Loooove this.."A GROOVE for SURE..Perfectly stated BJ!!!
Saw George Benson around 25 years ago in Vegas for a dinner show. Great show
I saw him perform that song in concert, it was amazing.
I'm a 56 yr old woman and remember dancing at the skate ring to this. I'm my cute tight satin pants. Ahhh those were the days 😂
Legendary song
Thank you Dad 7/14/23 R.I.P., for introducing me to artists like: George Benson, Lou Rawls, Dave Brubeck, Earl Klugh, Chicago, Classical composers! My appreciation for different styles started early in 1970, I was 5!
As I got older, hard rock, progressive rock, and a little metal started to come into play as well. Sometimes when my father was listening to classical and I was listening to ACDC we would clash and many times my dad would yell, "Karl, turn that shi* down!" It was pretty funny!
It's fun listening to George scat!
What a great artist! You need to try "Turn Your Love Around." It''s 🔥
This song was a huge hit, really transports me back
This was a big hit at the end of pop music's disco era. Other great end-time disco-hits were Quincy Jones, "Ai No Corrida," and Brothers Johnson's, "Stomp."
Driving to hang out in NYC., this was one of the songs.
That is Louis Johnson the bass player for the Brothers Johnson playing most of the bass on this song
Oh wow! I remember this song. I was just little.
Watch the video. He's on skates in the beginning.
Playing the guitar and singing at the same time, while on the roller skates!
Love to see your chair dancing. Such a great and groovy song.
My father and loved to hear George scat as he played. I was 13 in 1978 when I was introduced to George Benson's album Weekend In L.A.! George Benson has a huge catalog! My father loved Jazz
and introduced me to artists like Lee Ritenour and Earl Klugh! Also, Tim Bowman is someone I love, hardly anyone knows Tim, because he's a strong born again
believer using his talent to further the Kingdom of God! Please check these artists out, thank you!
Welcome to George's world.Well known jazz guitar prodigy long before his pop hits. An iconic American treasure. Among the best jazz players of the late 20th century.
I knew BJ would start his jive to this George Benson classic. This video was all about groove and roller skates essential elements from the 80’s. Great track, great reaction ✅ Turn your love around is another smooth number of his.
It’s definitely a skating jam. In fact, the music video for the song shows him literally skating while singing and playing the guitar. Legendary stuff right there. 😂
Legendary jazz guitarist - first to perform/cover "the greatest love of all" that Whitney later released. Smooth groove guaranteed with George. 👍🔥 You guys haven't experienced another jazz legend, a human mockingbird, Al Jarreau. "Take Five" is s good sample of his vocal genius.😉
Love that jazz guitar of George Benson! My favorites of his are “Livin’ Inside Your Love “, and “Love Ballad “ ! Classics!!
Really loved this song back in the day. I was a teenager and totally into New Wave about that time, but I did appreciate and enjoy George Benson. Another great song from that period you might want to react to is "Forget Me Nots" by Patrice Rushen.
One of my favorite men in music. He’s huge shit was “on Broadway” but I also highly recommend another one of his hits “ Never give up on a good thing”
Trivia: He had the song “the greatest love of all” on one of his albums Long before Whitney had a huge hit with it so u should check it out
My apologies for the language. It was a verbal text and it was somehow auto-corrected. It was supposed to read his huge hit
" ... huge 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵 ... " ??? 😸
This is one of the funkiest bass lines that will get your shoulders popping all on their own.... you just can't stop it.
Another hypnotic chart topper was by the Isely brothers called "Who's that Lady"(1973)...had an infectious beat...some serious dance music...enjoy guys
Funny you should mention a skating party, you should watch his official video for this song!
The song was released in 1980 and the Genre is R&B/Soul. It was written and composed by Heatwave's keyboard player Rod Temperton and produced by Quincy Jones. I did some research and could not find that it was used in any movies or commercials or the like. Surprising as it is a great song.
We ❤ George Benson fantastic guitarist singer artist smooth 😎 Great Jazz guitarist also 👍
Love this song, was also a skating rink song.
Check out George Benson's Lady Love Me (One More Time) with Toto's David Paich (keyboards and co-writer) and Toto's Jeff Porcaro on drum. Killer tune.
A member of master guitar players 🎸A former child prodigy came into prominence in the 60's. began his professional career at age 19. He also a singer/songwriter. (B.J., sir I noticed that way dance are you a 70's child? You could fit in on"SOUL TRAIN")
Lost my Pops in 2010. George was his guy and this song was his favorite. Rest easy Pops and get your groove on!!😆
Omg an absolute music treasure along with Marvin and Luther
Such a song never gets old.
George Benson is definitely one of the best jazz singer and musician
I love you guys. ❤ These are the jams I grew up with, I turned 55 last week, miss these days of pure talent. 🙏🏽✊🏾
I loved watching you young people experience one of the baddest jams ever!!! Thank you!!
Omg George Benson is my favorite singer and guitar player of all time thanks Asia and BJ for putting this song on UA-cam channel. P.S. check out this tune called affirmation it's off his 1976 Grammy award-winning album breezin'
It doesn’t get much better than this song.
Y'all should listen to George Benson "This Masquerade" (2000 remastered).
He's so smooth!
one of the greatest songs and artista ever
Love brother George, his unique sound
If I ever got to direct a futuristic sci-fi space fantasy, this song would be in it
This song is such a vibe OMG, I feel euphoric everytime I hear it.
George Benson is an ICON and an American treasure! ! ! You may wish to consider "While The City Sleeps" also by Mr. Benson
Excellent choice!! Can't go wrong with GB!
