I had bunion surgery yesterday morning. I have watched a lot of bunion videos in the last 24 hours and This Video is by far the BEST And Informative. Thank you.

SuzieX- until I had mine and recovered- I didn't realize how much misery could be alleviated- guess I had just sucked it up and kept on trying for a good life as best I could.
Oh it isn't all sunshine and roses but neither is it fog, gloom and thunderstorms. Wishing you a decision that's right for YOU.

Just had bunion surgery on both feet here in Canada. My doctor told me pretty much nothing about exactly what procedure he would use. I got the ‘block’ which was good for at least 24 hours, but had significant pain after that. Alleviated pain with prescribed T3’s and ice. The thing is, I am in casts on both feet for a FULL six weeks. Why is this? Also the doctor did not ask to see me for the six weeks until my casts come off. Meanwhile, I am five weeks in and get some really painful twinging in my toe joints, which prevents sleeping. Can someone with knowledge explain why the twingeing and why the casts are on for six weeks? As far as I know, there was nothing unusual about the bunions, and it seems the long casting is normal practice for this doctor.

This is nothing like my Mom is experiencing. Her "block" If that's what she was given wore off in 5 hours. She's now in excruciating pain.

Yes, I am having the same experience that your mother had. I just had surgery yesterday and mine wore off in about 5 hours as well. But I was told that same lie, it would wear off in about 24 plus hours.

Am sorry to hear that. I am on my second week post surgery. My block lasted over 2 days. I got the one where I was able to measure how much medicine I want it going into my nerve. Not sure if I have a high pain tolerance, but I have to say that it’s been an easy recovery for me. And that nerve blocker really did made a difference. So far am free of any medication. But in my case am in a cast and am not supposed to put any weight on ny foot. I guess with every surgery is different. I hope y’all are having a good recovery.

My doctor told me to loosen my boot when my foot was throbbibg the night of the surgery. That fixed the problem. Be sure to keep your foot elevated. Some people say an ice pack helps swelling and pain. For my next bunion surgery I am going to take Arnica 2 weeks pre-op to help reduce bruising and swelling, and continue taking it post-op.

No way am I having this surgery without general anesthesia . Why would anyone want to go through painful block injections and only AFTER that are you sedated? It should be in reverse.

    • @misskj7773

Absolutely... I can't believe anyone would attempt this surgery without general anesthesia. smh I had this surgery and I was out completely, would not have done it any other way. Excellent results.
