This is such a good video. Although you get little for it, I wanted to say thank you, this really helped me. My BF Falcon has started doing a similar thing, and i'm now able to investigate it properly before getting told stories by a mechanic whom may not be familiar with the issue
if your idle is missing at a consistent rate you can tap the top of throttle body with your knukles continiously if more or all cylinders fire it is most likely gunk on your tmap sensor or problem with tmap sensor/wireing (pretty much maf sensor).
I have a rough idle when stopped (brake pressed, in drive), my rpms are stable, but my car just vibrates a lot. I have put new spark plugs, checked coils, did smoke test, changed one leaking fuel injector (that I thought was leaking) and its orings. I still get rough idle and my long term fuel trim is -25% in Park, and -12.5% when in drive and stopped. I am guessing my fuel injectors are not spraying properly or leaking. Will have to change those.
@@modaufygarage Hi, thanx for your quick reply. I did a smoke test and found smoke emanating only from one fuel injector to head interface, so i'd hope it should smoke thru the intake mani. gasket as well if it were leaking. Also, I dont think I would be getting consistent (not sure why they are so exact) negative fuel trims if I had an air leak. The o2 sensor seems to be working ( I put in a new one, but car was vibrating even with the old one), the fuel trims do fluctuate and my short term fuel trim is good, always b/w -5/5%.
Heres one got bf falcon gas ...in morning drive for 20 mins get a miss and loss off power has stopped come back 5 min starts drives fine ...codes say cam sensor l replaced them ran fine for week problem came back any ideas
Just got it fixed ...turns out the gas converter needs hot water thru it mine was cold so gas was freezing which inturn stalled the engine or surging also set the cam sensor off ... replaced cam sensor didn't fix it obviously...was there's a trans cooler was blocked no heat at heater and converter ....runs mint now
I can hear air sucking in at cylinder 1 right where the intake manifold meets the head, sprayed some aerostart and idle dropped, I've got high idle, and fuel economy is getting worse, I guess the gasket is cactus.
Leaking manifold gasket putting more air in lean mixture trip a code ecu trys to compensate riching up fuel trim so will o2 sensor a little bit of knowledge is dangerous its fun to diagnose engine problems 😮
I got the same problem I changed the spark plugs and the coils and the fuel filter and the oil sensor and clean the throttle body and use a fuel injection system cleaner and removed the air filter then installed a new one i got a small leak from the muffler so I thought it could be the problem so I installed a straight pipe and still I got rough idle when stopped and on drive and it’s going with me for the last 20k so I will try what you did if it works I’ll edit my comment
Yer mines lpg wagan factory. It starts then wants to stop. Have had mechanic do new points plugs and battery, runs nice when goin but after start shitty. Gettin ignition done next week hope helps. otherwise im f...ked, thanks
I have my fg ford xr6 turbo I scan the Car new spark, plugs, new coil, fuel, filter, new and clean the throttle body cleaned. Everything steal the Car vibrate at the top help plz and also, I checked the engine mount
I'm not sure with the FG's however have you made sure that all the exhauist manifolds are tightned to spec. Also check the inlet manifold gasket and see if there is a leak
@@modaufygarage For Ba falcon is 3 step 20Nm lock manifold bolts with blue thred lock on bolts ,but BF has plastic intake and maybe different spec.If you take out air box you will have plenty room under for all bolts if you replacing intake gasket which coast aftemarket $20.
Definitly your problem will be solved when you change spark plugs 6 gaskets and 2 VCT valve gasket on rock cover and it will prevent leaking oil in spark plug well.Make sure to puchase rock cover gasket kit from Ford ,because aftemarket is not good and after short time rubber and seals will be hard and leakage in spark plug well will be again.Inatake gasket is from paper and usually they breake on clynder number 1 and if your idle were hight in park or neutral over 800rpm definitly vacum leakage is problem.Test for vacum leakage can be done from home made smoke detector easy to make or 1 metre hose you conect on brake buster and close trotle body hole with plastic gloves and buy one big cigaros and push smoke in true hose and if you have vacum leakage smoke will come out on damage part like gasket,O rings injector or other conection. Before changing rock cover gasket tray lock more top rock cover bolts and maybe you will prevent leakage on clynder number 1.2.3.
Yes, changing them was a waste but that's what happens sometimes. I did have a couple of spare ignition coils at home and I tried putting those in first. When there was no change that made me think it was the coils.
thanks mate I did the same intake manifold gasket

Thanks so much for taking the time to write that. Have you been able to diagnose the issues with your car?
Great video mate
Thank you very much
You covered all bases to help me a non mechanic
Cheers 👍🏻
Thanks for the positive feedback. I hope you figure out what might be wrong with your car

Good to know, thanks for the tip!

That seems like a weird problem. have you tested the intake manifold gasket?

@@AH-ky7xb hello did you end up fixing mine is same
@@happymanasfksubaru2846 hi, missed your msg, I narrowed my issue down to a slightly burned valve in cyl1.
Thanks mate just going through the same thing atm , new coils spark plugs and fuel injectors and still missing so going to look at the gasket next 😂
Fingers crossed that fixes your issues

Sorry mate, I don’t have any experience with gas. Could it be with the wires?

It sounds like you’ll need to replace the gasket.
