I live in Pudong Shanghai, we have been locked down since March 24th. I have become a pretty good cook now, tried to make pizza, pancake, cheese cake, banana loaf, and various Chinese dishes. My two ovens finally have some usage now.
It's good to see you help others in this difficult situation. May the people in Shanghai can help each other to gain more strengths and get through the low period.

Maybe there are some unsatisfactory or inconvenient things happened for the people under the lockdown, but in general the ordinary people like Mike still can get food in all ways. It wouldn't happen if the government didn't ensure the overall supply chain and transportation. It is unfair to judge of their performance with one-sided view.

I am living in Shanghai as well. The same situation as Teacher Mike . No worry about food, most of thing can be bought. but it's really a difficult period for some sick and olders. 希望疫情尽快结束，大家都回归正常。上海加油！
Little Mike is so cute. When Sydney was lockdown for 4 months, I began to look for online shops. My little boy and I learnt baking bread and cake, playing piano, indoor dance. All the best to your lovely family.
The lockdown in Australia is totally different from mainland China and cannot compare each other. People can go shopping , do exercises in parks and walk doggies. Shanghai is like a hell right now. Of course, it’s man-made hell.
How can you compare the lockdown in Australia with the lockdown in Shanghai? The lockdown in Australia was pretty much similar to the approaches what the US government or any other western countries applied. Take Sydney an example. People there were still free to go outside anytime you want for exercising, shopping, going to pharmacy, visiting doctors and hospital. People were only allowed to travel within 5km under the toughest policy, but luckily that only lasted for a few weeks. Soon the travel area was extended to the local LGA, pretty much within 30-50km, during the lockdown. People had pretty much normal life, except that you need to work from home and no parties/gatherings.
That balcony with the swinging chair makes a world of difference and you made a great choice implementing that in the reno. Stay strong stay tough nowhere else to go but up from here on
2 questions 1) do you have to do the throat test or the nose test? 2) how are you and other foreigners doing financially with all of this, like if you don't have a job or aren't working right now then what do you do?
You’re lucky in the sense that for the pass two years you were free to travel everywhere within China. Here in Malaysia we were constantly under lockdowns basically from 18 Mar 2020 till 1 November 2021 , 2 years, 3 weeks, and 6 days. So consider yourself very lucky
In malaysia were totally locked down from late ramadan last April thru christmas. Could not even step outside the apartment without being arrested and taken away. And there was no drinking water or bread for weeks at a time.
Looking at katherine's channel, another american in china, she been travelling everywhere 2+ years all around china like nothing happened. They don't even wear masks most places.
Stay strong! We in Singapore went through similar stints a few times over the past 2 years riddled with uncertainties and inconvenience. Hopefully China can get its elderly's vaccinations up and get all you folks out of the home quarantine soon! Stay safe!!!
It's not easy to go through in a strained and restrict space for quite a time, but I am glad you always think postive to deal with the difficulties and heart warming when hear people in the compound helping each other. Are you still making plans to get out of there? With how they are doing it now, you will be in quarantine forever. I have seen reports of people getting out of there. It's a really complicated process but it can be done. That garden behind you at 4:52 looks really nice. Is that part of your condo corp.?

同在上海, 和麦克老师感同身受, 食物方面虽然可选择性较少. 但还算充足, 趁封禁期入门了两项新技能, 但效率不算很高, 本想在这段时间思考一下日后工作计划, 但感觉精神已经麻木, 提不起精神来思考, 时间仿佛凝滞, 已经不去关注什么时候能解封, 就像麦克老师说的, 似乎陷入了一个无尽的循环, 每天例行活着, 祝同在上海的朋友一切安好.

在澳洲这里已经完全接受与病毒共存，口罩都不再强制戴，比较在意的我们华人还有一些当地人坚持戴口罩在室内。因为在学校上班所以工作时候一定要上班，几乎学校里有三分之一的人都已经得过一次新冠了，他们基本上没什么特别严重的症状一周之内就好了，小孩子好的更快。虽然身边的学生轮流得新冠，自己目前还好没有中招，但是心态调整好了即使中招了那就回家隔离一周，一周后检测为阴性就可以继续正常生活和工作👌简单分享一下 期望上海也能尽快度过这个难关。
我们在美国也是这样的，基本上不当回事了。
我也在澳洲，我还在新冠中。我想说，能不得尽量不得，得了新冠非常难受，虽然很多了没有性命之忧的康复了，但是这个过程真的不好受。
加拿大也早就躺平了，BC省政府表示已经有至少50%的居民感染过新冠。。。
儿子好可爱，而且不哭不闹。郁闷时期有这么个乐天派小家伙，心情会好很多，有希望的感觉。

你去年在悉尼难道不能外出购物吗？悉尼的食品超市／商店也都关门了吗？悉尼的医院也是跟上海一样不能去了吗？也是无法就医？你去年在悉尼不能外出做运动吗？不能去药房买药吗？你去年在悉尼也是不管你又无症状有政府的人天天做核酸检查吗？如果以上都没有，你比较什么呢？你有带任务？
还要补充，去年悉尼封锁的时候病毒还是delta，死亡率会高一些；现在是omicron, 几乎都是轻症。澳洲政府都全面放开半年了。简直从各方面都无可比性。
当中国成为全世界第一个消除感冒的国家的时候，疫情就结束了，就像他们宣布消除了贫困一样。

@@liudshui8386 现在直接不管了。国情不一样。马来西亚没有中国那么有钱，封城造成的亏损马来西亚承担不起，所以疫苗打一打，直接开放。不打也没强制，现在的死者应该有很多都是反疫苗人士，反正他们自己承担后果就是了。

Just avoid travelling high risk cities, generally it's much safer travelling some remote 3rd、4th and 5th tier cities or counties or countrysides.

Same in our country - much less covid-hassle risk in smaller towns or rural areas than in a big city.
