1: Sad

Where are you @bananagoat?
Easy counter to this: Never edge guard ever. Be afraid of the edge. The edge consumes all.
Your opponent just watches you run to center stage
Become the ledge.
Or you can just time your inputs and kill your opponent earlier, bettering your chances of success in the rest of the match. You gotta take risks
that use to be my mindset
All hail center stage. Everything comes back to center stage.
BananaBoy is the reason why I want to he in competitive smash, thanks for all the tips and ways to get better at this game❤️
69 likes is much epic so I’m not gonna like it for that reason

Mario mains : so your saying I don’t have to always go for a fair every time the opponent even thinks about being off stage? 🤔
Mario players don’t listen to him he is lying, bow to our lord and savor fair
I do that most of the time as a mario main but make sure I have enough resources to recover.
@@solowsmash710 ALL HAIL FAIR
To be fair (lol) this move is so easy to land and so rewarding that you probably should always go for it 😅
@@solowsmash710 As a fellow Mario main I agree. For his blasphemous words, he will be sacrificed to the ladder combo and

I can't stress how refreshing it is to go into a video without a long intro like "incase you don't know what edgeguarding is..."
Just... thank you.
It suprice me looking back at the video and seeing he wenr directly to the topic

Just wanted to post a comment because there is only one other one thats not two years old. I hope you are okay mental and physical wise no pressure just making sure ur ok
Ok next teach me how to egdeguard without SDing 20% of the time
Practice in training room extending as far as you can offstage with your moves to learn their range of how deep you can go and what causes you to SD
You make it more stylish before you sd. It’s not about avoiding the sd, it’s about sding with style
@@harmless9336 "It's not about winning, it's about sending a message"
Look up his video about greediness
Go to training room
When he needs to pay his landlord but he lives with his mom
What?
Something hard to explain but rewarding when executed... is conditioning. Know the opponents recovery and options. Then bait and punish. Treat options like a 50/50 low high or RPS aka jump/attack/recover
marshall coleman probably the simplest way of explaining conditioning is letting the opponent get away with a certain option for some time, then punishing the option later on after baiting it. Best saved for taking stocks.
Videos like this are usually super vague and unhelpful but these are really great
Hope you're doing alright dude!
I love watching your videos. Your humour, your cuts, your voice, your 7 frame novels that you put randomly somewhere on screen... It's just pure entertainment. I find myself laughing almost the entire time. And it's educational, too!
Please don't stop.
I'm glad your evil too as the outro music just proves that banana boy has the most goated taste in music fr fr
As a luigi main, I appreciate you teaching us how to edge guard ness
as a luigi main who has a friend who plays ness, it is very useful
What about Mario's that go for a forward air literally every single time you're even REMOTELY near an edge?
1:46 when a Mario hits a FORWARD AERIAL in alpharad
Because it is extremely satisfying to hit
Alpharad was patient zero
Because it’s works for Doc, also but no need to call out someone with a spike. They just die to star KO and that’s what’s fun about fairing with Mario, at ledge cause if it hits they get massively fudged up.
Plus it’s just funny af when you kill with sour spot fair as Mario. Cause it’s just baby doc fair . Kek

Me, a Mac main: Wtf am I supposed to do with this
The fact that you can create a video that addresses my mistakes as soon as I recognize them for this long is insane.
The audio is clean. The editing is crisp, and the content is on point. +1 sub
This was great, I like how the two tips really just boil down to "edgeguard at the right time"
but you take it at both ends of the spectrum and work out the issues at both extremes and, more importantly, what you can do to fix them
BananaBoy seems like a really nice person and I enjoy his content and watch even if I don’t think it will help me too much
Miss you, man! I hope all's going well!
Love it! Suggestions for videos:
1. Specific tricks you can use to edgeguard against specific characters
2. Specific tricks you can you AS certain characters
For example if someone has a counter they can jump out and use it against Ridley's up b
Or Ness can use charged down Smash yo yo for most recoveries.
Man I don't even play smash but you can still apply most of your videos to other platform fighter games always nice to watch
Damn I came to watch the retrospective video again. As the start of it always gives me nostalgia tears. Hope you’re alright man

Since I’m a bayo main so this video spoke to me on a spiritual level I havent even watched it yet
I’m so happy banana boy is back!
Very good content bananaboy. From the looks of it, I edgeguard way too fast from what I see. This is something I want to fix, thanks for the tips

Bro please come back 😢
*This guy inspires me to play quickplay, then when I do that I get matched with a Ness that has items, FS Meter, and 1 minute.*
I haven't played Smash in a month. Thank you for being reliable.
literally 2am, why am I up?
Same
12:30am for me lol
So u can say Steve is coming out tommorow and it be true
I suffer from the same problem sometimes 😴
One thing you can also do is mix-up when you edge guard alongside your ledge trap game or vice verse. I usually ledge trap a lot to make the opponent think I'm waiting, than once in a while, I'll go off-stage to attempt a edge guard when the opponent doesn't expect it, and possibly get a stock. I've done this a lot in friendlies, locals (before the pandemic happened), and recently a wifi regional bracket, and I won some rounds and took stocks because of it.
It's the same case as this video, mixup your ledge trap and edge guard attempt to bait opponents to secure the stock or maintain stage control.
“punish them” shows a picture of a belt
Kinky!
Thought it was a sub collar at first, either way, my girlfriend is a bratty sub, so can relate

Love your video, I really wanna get better at playing smash and this wonderful tips will help me bro, you deserve more like and my respect!
That clip at about 8:00 in the video made me think about how being put in a tech scenario can work, because if you hit the tech, your opponent becomes very punishable. In this example, Captain Falcon is caught up in Ganondorf's Up-B, but Falcon hit the tech, so he could easily go for either a B-Air or F-Air, depending on whether or not he grabbed the ledge.
Your content improves video after video...that's kinda inspiring
BananaBoy: Ok make sure to watch out for Chrom's up b, its very dangerous
Incineroar mains: I'm about to end this man's whole career
Quick tip: a great way to bait options from your opponent offstage without putting yourself at risk is to empty jump offstage and immediately come back. Lots of players will see you coming after them and will pick an option before they realize it was a ruse
never would've thought I'd hear monogatari music in a smash video
Always high quality videos
me watching as a mac main
"you dont need that offstage side b, just ledge pressure man *heavy breathing*"
Damnn bananaboy watches ludwig, didnt expect that
I hear that Platinum Disco 👌. I'm platinum satisfied with this video!
Best video I have ever seen
I love hitting a neutral B limit with cloud when they try to jump at me, it’s so satisfying.
BananaBoy has really helped me get better!! I have really improved!!👍
Love me some ludwig references
Any edge guarders in the chat?
My edge guard habits: opening the menu and hoping for magic burst lol
BananaBoySSB: ok look at everything he does, then make a well-calculated plan to counter his plan.
Me: Do I really look like a guy with a plan?
*laughs in Nikita*
But for real, this is a really nice video and it’ll definitely help me in events where Nikita isn’t an option
It may not seem like it, but this really separates the bad from the good players.
Hesitation is defeat.
Must be sad failing to edguard Little Mac, but imagine getting edguarded by him
I'd quit the game
Super educative, thank you, Bananaboy! :)
The plan is simple, I'll try this

Something I find funny of myself is how I doubt myself when it comes to edgeguarding with any character, but with the Miis I pretty much go "Screw You" and go for the edgeguards fearlessly even when I know I won't make it back.
We still miss you :(
I love the lain gif at 0:20
Damnit! Now everyone knows how to edgeguard my 2 mains! Helpful vid tho!
as a mario main, i actually have less problems with edge guarding. if some one tries to revover low;the cape is the way to go. if some one tris to recover high; cape, forward air and up air could do it; recovering in a neutral height(between the first 2) cape or forawrd air
this video and, by proxy, this channel is awesome
something like the asumsaus of helpful advice !!
i hope ur doing well 🍌 !
The cloud part was so true and helpful.
As soon as i started paying more attention to my opponent, i got my first character into elite smash (and it wasn’t even a main so you already know i have a couple in there now)
You really just made an entire speed art for a single transition
You know what’s funny ness and Luigi are two of my mains
I get his channel is to provide tips but personally I’d love to see some gameplay from him
Alright boys the plan is simple

Am I the only one who thinks doc has a worse recovery than mac?
At least Doc can consistently snap the ledge
@@bonzai8 mac does too. ua-cam.com/video/widRuJ29m2k/v-deo.html but I see your point though but doc still has the worst in my opinion.
I see what you mean. At least Mac has a better recovery from smash 4 I guess.
little mac has a better recovery than doctor mario but doctor mario actually has a decent one. the worst one is roy or ganon.
ganondorf is easily the worst. His only mixups are to go high and grab ledge, airdodge in very specific situations, or double jump up air (this is the most common but still not exceptional)
I love taking away an opponent's resources one by one in extended edgeguard scenarios. Unfortunately, a lot of character designs have all their good options refresh on hit, so at best I'm just tacking on extra % until they make it back to the ledge. So frustrating.
Ok Bananaboy, we love u
8:18 a few frames of yoshi with vibe check face
I’m gonna say that maybe when ness took the bait maybe shielding to up b or a quick up smash would have been a good punish
8:35 ahh yes, what i was actually here for
Nobody is talking about the Nisemonogatari OP in the background ? XD
So... were you able to pay rent ?
I don’t play smash anymore but, I’ll support and try to put this in FPS games.

?
?!

To add on to his point about ledge guarding. If your good enough. People with teleport recoveries are extremely gimpabale. Practice 2 framing.. out of all recoveries teleports (for me) ate the easiest to gimp. Like sheik, palu's zelda's (good zeldas will clip you with the last hit) and mewtwo
3 years will you ever come back or are you done with smash and or youtube?
This is so very helpful! Thank you!
