- Today we're giving you a complete tour of Katoomba, a small town in Sydney's Blue Mountains! First, we head to Echo Point to check out the Three Sisters Lookout and the small tourist center, followed by a visit to Scenic World to see the world's steepest railway. Finally, we show you around the Katoomba town center to check out some of its antique shopping and its "Street Art Walk". The best part of Katoomba is easily the hiking, so we give a few recommendations on hiking trails too!

I was there 25 years ago and don't recognize anything in the city. Some great hiking there though. I stayed at a backpacker hostel. I remember drinking in a veterans hall. Everything was really laid back.
I’m sure it had changed a lot over the years!! But it still has a very quiet, laid back vibe! :)

I thought the 3 sisters story was great too!! When we lived in Hawaii all of our native friends would tell us the stories of the formations and they’re always so fascinating! So I’m stoked they have stories here too!!

@@TheRealMcNeals EXACTLY! Hahaha! Alan's current life goal is to retire early so we're always trying to scrimp and save... but that's so hard when you want to do it all on trips! lol
@@IfWeGoTo isn't that the truth. Although, YOLO! 😁 We have traveled with 5, sometimes 6, kids and know what it's like to prioritize which fun things are most important. It is expensive to do the touristy things. We've found that the kids remember the hikes and unexpected treasures that didn't actually cost anything.
The Valley of the Waterfalls is spectacular. Great presentation and awesome tips all other tourist. ⛰🏞🏔🙋👍
Valley of the waters is so incredibly gorgeous, one of those spots you make it to that just leaves you in total awe!! We have a video of that hike coming up in a week or two (need to check) too!!

Also had no idea thylacines were spotted in the Blue Mountains! Though I am not surprised!! I was secretly hoping we would spot one while we visited Tasmania!! I did see a tasnnish slinky dog-like creature while there for just a split second on the road, but I thought it looked more like a fox's movements!
@@IfWeGoTo we would 100% count that dog like creature as a thylacine 😂 can’t prove it wasn’t a thylacine. We had planned a trip to Australia/Tasmania with the excuse of “searching for a thylacine”.
Missing 411 is a book series about a researcher that looks into mysterious disappearances in national parks , primarily in USA and Canada . He did do a few cases in Australia though. Interesting stuff to have a beer and go down the UA-cam rabbit whole with lol.

Katoomba is a amazing place but lots of people are bad people but all the places you show in this video I know I live in Wentworth falls

Thats unfortunate that some of the people are bad in the region? We fortunately did not experience any of that and everyone there was very kind to us!
That was very interesting , i like the way they painted the back of their homes , question how hard was it to drive on the wrong sidevof the road !!
Our first experience on the wrong side of the road was March 2020!! It was TERRIFYING! lol...
But after like 20 minutes you kind of get used to it. After a month or two your brain kind of rewires to the other side... I feel like driving on the right is going to be a challenge all over again when we get back!! lol
The view from the overlook near Three Sisters looks so beautiful! Would love to hike down there. The steepest railway at Scenic World looks really fun. I hate gondolas though. I don't love the feeling of just dangling in the air on a wire. But I would definitely love that railway. Looks like a cool little antique shopping district. Why was nothing open? Was it too early in the day? Enjoyed this tour. Looks like there are some interesting ways to spend the day in Katoomba. Thanks for showing us around!

I'm not sure why they weren't open!! Maybe it was just the day of the week? Australia has a lot of businesses randomly closed on some weekdays, not what I'm used to being from the US! lol

Nice video. I'm from Wellington, NZ. Last time I was in Sydney was Jan 2017, but never went to the Blue Mountains. My ambition is to come visit Sydney again for 7-8 Nights from late December over NYE, staying in the CBD, but Blue Mountains will def be on my wishlist. Might chose a tour group. Could take the train. Have a full NZ Driver Licence, but hiring cars in Aussie costs more than in NZ.

The blue mountains are definitely worth visiting for a day or two. If I recall, we took an Uber to a rental car location that was a little outside of the city so it came out to be a lot cheaper. I’m sure the train would run near a rental pickup area too!
Hike up and ride down? Oh my no....Can I do the opposite? LOL!!!!
