Mikes gone old school.......Tractors with no cabs,I remember growing up driving cabless Tractors, one word .....COLD...... hats, gloves, coats, sacks and even bits of carpets try to keep warm.....The good old days NOT. Mike thanks for the videos .
Yeah lol, remember those things. My dad here in the Netherlands had one open Renault tractor on which you could put a crappy tube roof with some vinyl on top. A small plastic windscreen with 2 hinged plastic side windows. When it got really cold you could strap some extra tent stuff on it for doors with rubber bands to strap it on the tubing so at least only your back would be cold. I remember almost hugging the gearbox between your feet to stay warm.... But then again ... roofless in summer drying the grass burning into a red lobster ...

Just A Porsche with 15 Hp and a bunch of levers. New Tractors are bloody nice for shure, but I like old ones.
My grandfather would tell us about combining in the 50's; Their machine was old and had no cab. He said it was bad at the best of times, but when harvest went long and the snow came down it was hellish.
Actually tempered glass is commonly referred to as safety glass... the problem with making them out of laminated glass is you can't really make major curves in laminated glass like the top of the fendt windshield.. now as to why manufacturers don't use laminated glass isn pretty simple in agriculture its really easy to crack the plate glass and tampered glass is harder to bust unless you hit it on the edge... I installed glass for a few years my neighbor owns a glass company

Yeah that valley is a pain when coming thru with an oversize. I use to run pilot truck for my dad running from Alberta to Texas. Only part I miss tho is getting to see all beautiful scenery.
Hey, me again:) One of our moves from Medicine Hat, I was driving our John Deer, pulling 2 wagons down the TransCanada. The first wagon had a sea container and the second was our pipe wagon, loaded with HDPE pipe. It took me 7 hours to get to our laydown yard and many sleepy periods. 50km/hr all the way!
That had to be quite the surprise when your windshield got busted! Glad you are okay. I agree with you that those big windshields should be laminated for safety. You take care Mike! Happy you saved your coffee, you have your priorities right!

Losing a windshield is absolutely awful. I can't help but think back to the day when I was farming we didn't have cabs on our tractors. Take you to rock at 70 miles an hour, the truck going 50 and you go in 20 might well have been a death sentence. I don't ever remember Vehicles picking up and throwing rocks at me. I can't help but wonder if there isn't a way to Shield The Rock throwing from the trucks. Please be safe out there. We've gotten kind of used to having your videos brighten our day and we don't want to have to virtually visit you in the hospital.
The difference between Canada and Europe no one lives in Canada and there is absolutely no traffic on the roads and you can drive on the public road with an augur over 35 meters long

I always wear boots when I am working around tractors even if it's just a run to town. I had a few of those windshields shatter on me when it gets cold. It's no fun being in the tractor when it happens.
You will be finding glass in that tractor until you get rid of it unless you completely tear out everything in the cab, seat steering column, side panels.
This is an underrated comment.. we lost a back window 3 years ago and after countless vacuum attempts, air blower attempts and endless glass picking... there always seems to more glass appearing
That is why I tint everything I own. The tint helps keep it from shattering on you. I tint my windows dark because I like not wearing sunglasses but you can just do 80% or whatever to have it on there. I do 20% on my windshield and double 5% on the rest of my glass in my vehicles

For the money the tractors costs, you'd have thought they would come with a laminated screen, especially Fendts cos of the speeds they can go.

In Europe we would assemble it on the farm, there is no way someone would bother with all the paperwork to get in legal to move on the road.
