I think all us older brothers can agree that our little brothers may have put us through hell. Put us through the most frustrating of times, especially for us middle children, but no one harm, or messes with our younger siblings but us. Even then it's out of love and maybe vengeance but mostly Love!
This was probably one of Robert's best moments. Throughout the series, we see him envying Ray and acting like he enjoys it when Ray comes up short. Considering the argument they had earlier in this episode, this should have been a victory for him. By all rights, one would expect him to be enjoying this moment. But, he doesn't. This shows that, when it really comes down to it, Robert loves his brother and will always have his back.
They do. Many times we seen Robert and Ray defend the other like in Let's Fix Robert or Ride Along or when Robert first moved out or this one. Ray went down to Pennsylvania to help Robert with Amy parents. The finale was a big one because Robert about ran into the room when he thought his brother could've died. You can't show these moments too much because they're not special then :)
The episode that I always remember is the one where their dad takes “The step,”. Because that happened once with my brother and I and our dad; we were bickering at thanksgiving dinner and he bellowed “ENOUGH YOU TWO!” We both went white as ghosts and even though he didn’t say it, he had that little smirk on his face like “I still got it!”
My brother and me fight every day. But when someone picks on him, I stand 6 feet four, over the sucker bothering him ready to crush him into powder. When someone tries to make me feel terribly, my brother comes out of nowhere and defends me. Then we fight over who's tougher than who at home ! Lmfao
Thats just an unwritten rule among siblings you can call them whatever bad stuff you want, make fun of them and their flaws and fight them but no one else will have that priviledge 😂😂
The best part of this is how you can see Robert in the background slowly seethe until he can't stay silent any longer and steps up for his brother, that is what it is to be a sibling :)
ekf5018 Ikr. They may have a relationship full of rivarly what is typical for siblings. But they are always there to watch and keep eachother. This scene is really great. Even though Robert is always jelaous of Ray, he is still his little brother and he loves him so much.
@matachi1040 Still won't work. You have to be tall...and heavy. If you're just tall but have 150 lbs, folks are just gonna laugh at you. 205 is a minimum I'd say.
Something I find very underrated in this scene is the body language and facial expressions, especially on Robert's part. You can see Raymond's self esteem crumble as he keeps getting insulted. But the real star is Robert. Throughout the show, he's thrown several light jabs at Raymond, with most of them being reminders of how jealous he is, and the very occasional jab at Raymond's career (like when that guy said Raymond blows on radio and Robert enjoyed that for days). But as soon as he sees that Raymond is getting disrespected and insulted, both as a writer and as a person, he *immediately* stops enjoying it and stands up for him.
It's that classic thing where I can make fun of you but nobody else can. It's not even only a classic sibling thing either. On other shows like Married with Children you'd see The Bundys defend each other when some outsider messed with them. Or The Jeffersons with George and Florence having each other's back occasionally.
I almost cried when he stepped up to defend his brother. You can say anything you want about me. If you come at my family I'll fuckin drop you quicker than Randy Orton can spell RKO
This is the perfect example of what it is to have a sibling! Although Robert laughs at his brother Ray (I have to mine), you always have their back in the end!
As a little sibling, I have been placed in the Raymond coddled position of the family, but like Robert strive to show my decency and intelligence. My sister and I are at each other's throats, but then the next moment I will not hesitate to step up for her. She has protected me from a lot of crap from people for how I look, and I protect her and love her when people expect her to be "stupid". This is the perfect example of siblings, being assholes to one another one minute, and not hesitating to help and protect who you love.
Exactly! I love my sister but she can drive me nuts! However I can call her what I like and smack her around and laugh at her when she makes an arse of herself but not one else will have such priviledges if anyone dares to mess with my big sister u mess with the younger crazier one 😡😈😂
I love scenes like this between them because it shows the full relationship between these two brothers. In the same scene they poke fun and purposely annoy the other and then Robert defends his brother and Ray looks at his brother with such love and admiration when he stands up for him. Many times they've stood up for each other and had each other's backs even though Robert's super jealous of Ray and Ray likes to annoy Robert. This is me and my little brother all day
As a parent you always want your kids to stand up for each other. Even when one does wrong and others pounce on them the other siblings should say, "Hey, I know he or she did wrong but shut up about it."
My older brother David passed away at the young age of 45 last year. We had our differences all of our lives, but this scene always reminds me of him. He bullied me here and there but he made sure no one else was allowed. I miss him
You think that was bad. Imagine how his father would have handled it. His father is even more tough than both of them combined but when it comes down to it he loves his boys and I couldn’t fathom what he would have said or done. This scene is something I’ll remember for a very long time.
Frank would have either started a scene, started a fight, or both. This is the same old man who put the "razzle dazzle" on several people, a child included, for a record setting football. Imagine what he'd do to a guy who just insulted his son.
Actually I think it'd be Marie that would slaughter this dude. Now of course Frank would go off but Marie? Oh man 😂 Remember how she handled Robert's ex wife? This dude would get worse lol.
This is exactly how it should be! You can talk about your sibling or family member all you want but as soon as someone else does it's time to FIGHT!!!!! I love the fact that they Rob and Ray were beefing this entire episode and Rob didn't hesitate to defend Ray!! This is facts on how a sibling relationship should be!!

Well saying you just don't 'get' someone or don't gel with them is perfectly fine. Maybe not enough reason to say you hate someone, but it's a fine enough explanation for dislike. The rest of it, however, about how Ray didn't have to be smart to have a career in journalism, how he has standards, etc. That was just such an A-hole move.
Ray was nothing but a self-centred excuse of a human being. I couldn't stand him, seeing the way he treated Debra and the kids. And how he constantly took everyone in his life for granted. I loved it whenever he "occasionally" would go out of his way to show his love for Robert & Debra, as rare as that was. Robert, however, loved him & their Mother Marie unconditionally, despite the constant mistreatment. Plus he was so much fun. Was super protective, handsome and a gentle giant. Devoted brother, uncle, husband & above all, a son. Sometimes I wish I had someone exactly like him in real life. I was so glad when Amy and Robert got together. There's no one better than Amy for him. 🥰👍
I remember when people decided to pick on my younger brother by saying he had no talent, and I told them my brother had more talent in his pinkie finger than they had in their whole body. My brother may annoy me, but nobody can insult my brother like that. I understand Robert here.
TBH Ray litteraly asked for it. The guy asked him several times to let it go but he couldnt. Robert defending him was nice but kind of pointless. Dont ask questions If you cant handle the answer
As much as Robert is envious and jealous of his brother for all the attention and praise he gets, NO ONE attacks his personal character while he’s around.
I believe I wouldn't let nobody tell my sisters anything either because they might be hard on me all the time but I still care about them. And I'm the oldest and my family will always be my family no matter what. We must defend them while we alive.
As an older brother myself, I approve this message. No one torments my brother except me.
Amen my friend I have a baby brother that I tormented when we were younger and I would hurt someone if they tried to bother him

I remember when people decided to pick on my younger brother by saying he had no talent, and I told them my brother had more talent in his pinkie finger than they had in their whole body. My brother may annoy me, but nobody can insult my brother like that. I understand Robert here.
They both may get on each other's nerves at times but they always look out for each other
That guy literally sounds exactly like Bryan Cranston
Excellent video
awww Ray looked on in pride of his big brother
Kind of like the 'Ride Along' scene where Robert takes down the robber at Neemo's. Ray was looking on in fright but also awe at his big brother.
EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽(ALL SEASONS AND EPISODES) IN MEXICO 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Robert is a great big bro
A good big bro would have told Ray that he was acting like an ass, and needed to get over it.
TBH Ray litteraly asked for it. The guy asked him several times to let it go but he couldnt. Robert defending him was nice but kind of pointless. Dont ask questions If you cant handle the answer
This scene was so satisfying
Why? Robert acted like a thug to defend his brother who was being a spoiled baby.
I have a brother too. I would stand up for him against a idiot like that also.
No one torments the little brother except the big brother.
"Hey, you can't beat up my sibling. *Only I do that.* "
Even though I can stand robert at times because he lives to see ray fail and look bad this puts a new light on it
He was about to go on John wick on that guy
As a cop, he should no better. That's assault.
Robert the Legend
Reminds me of my brother and myself ...defend to the death
Robert and Raymond may have argued sometimes, but they always had each other’s back
That was beautiful 😍
As much as Robert is envious and jealous of his brother for all the attention and praise he gets, NO ONE attacks his personal character while he’s around.
Great scene!
I was cheering on the inside! Nobody fukks with my brother but me!🎉
I believe I wouldn't let nobody tell my sisters anything either because they might be hard on me all the time but I still care about them. And I'm the oldest and my family will always be my family no matter what. We must defend them while we alive.
My older brother would help us out like this in a heartbeat older brothers are awesome
Nobody messes with Family except Family.
Yeah, I would not allow that dork to talk to my little brother that way.
I love this so much
Peggy does not like Raymond that is someone else who ho hates Raymond.
Dude looks like Jerry Springer
Hahaha, the title “Someone hates Raymond”!
Families stick together don't they?
