One of the best-kept secrets I've learned in sales is that you want your customers to be talking 80% of the time, while the salesperson should only be talking 20% of the time.
Whether you're an account executive, sales development rep, or business development or any type of B2B sales, the same rule still applies.
Some people might be confused when I say this.
After all, aren't salespeople suppose to be the one talking?
Well, believe it or not, that's far from the truth.
The best salespeople are the BEST LISTENERS.
And one of the best ways to get your prospects to listen to ask sales questions.
You see, no matter where you are in the sales process, whether it's a strategy session, discovery call, or even when you're closing a deal...
You should continuously be asking sales questions to gather as much information about your prospect.
This applies even if you're doing phone sales or meeting your prospects in person.
You got to be able to empathize and understand your customers to get them to buy.
And of the best way to do this is to ask Intelligent Questions.

Patrick, here's a video to consider making. "Transitioning from sales talk, to the close." Many green sales people and even more experienced sales people tend to talk too much, too long and with little ability to (and, for me this is the art/science behind it) transition from talking to closing the sale.

Great video!!! Question to the "Prospect": "Curious what you have been experiencing when it comes to print vs digital?" Put the respect and perceptive power back in their court. Patrick, I love your style!! After years of selling and trying to incorporate all the "guru" training and psychology I have studied, I learned that sales (and for me I way overthought things) is an art, a science and MOST importantly it's a "conversation" that YOU, the salesperson subtly navigate and control, IF there is a glaring need for your product or service. Don't try to sell a drill to a painter, no matter how good you are! It's the art of focused conversation that has a beginning, a middle and an end...the clo$e. Blessings Patrick, keep them coming!!

Hey Patrick, love your content and it’s been helping me quite a lot with my sales journey.
How would you approach these questions in a competitive market or knowing that your prospect is using a competitor that offers similar value to what your product is offering?

    Hi Patrick!!
I've learnt so much from udemy, youtube, and your saleslegacy course!
As I am currently interviewing for a full time sales position, do you think you could upload more videos on how to crush sales interviews?
Would really give people like me a lot of value and insight.
    Thanks for reading~

Love this video. Very informative and you Patrick ia very knowledgeable and explain the topic well. How do you use that when you are selling insurance? What can you use for observation, perspective and what question will you ask to a prospect?

    • @patrickdang
      @patrickdang  4 роки тому +2

When it comes to insurance, an example that comes top of mind is using statistics on the probability an accident might happen. Or how well the insurance takes care of the client if something does happen.
