Riding my T7 is a guilty pleasure. it's an awesome adventure bike, but it comes at a cost. i take you through whats so great about the T7 world raid, but why, ultimately, its a bit of a dirty secret
#T7 #t700 #tenere700 #tenereoffroad
Just came back from a 5200km trip to latvia and back. My WR did everything from A roads, B roads, D Roads, Autobahn (Germany) gravel, and single track. Sublime.
Agreed, they're an amazing bike
love my WR i do struggle with the height and weight been 5ft8 but riding it makes makes everything worthwhile , puts a smile on my face every time 👍👍
Yeah, it's a fantastic machine. I desperately want to love it. I think I need to use it more. It's the size of the bike that makes it so appealing to me
Totally agree with you, similar to a GS , did nearly 2 years on mine, it's gone now and I've just received my crf300 rally and love it 😊
I'd never give my CRF 😎
I have a standard Tenere and I love it (apart from the seat!) Just bought a 250L and I have to say that it`s great fun hooning around the back roads, looking forward to going further afield on it next year.
Yes!!
Great review Mark, looks such a Dirty purposeful all round Bike😎…so want to try one ! Would have to buy Clive’s BBW T shirt though if I had one🤣
It's an all round excellent bike mate, just wish it wasn't so blatant about it 😂. I'd never wear a BBW shirt. So off brand! 😅
I got my 2017 Africa Twin back in the day for 15k EUR, ex demo bike. Equipped with DCT, and almost every extra. I checked the prices of the new ATs. I sold my AT, stupid me. ATs are ridiculously expensive now. I find the T7 priced well.
Great review there on an able bike, I'd love to see you review a bike at the other end of the scale, a VStrom 650, brilliant value and I bet more able than most think. Now there's a challenge 😎
Hmm, perhaps we can make this happen 🤔
YES! Friday at the office SAVED!!!! Thank you. I'll keep my crf250l and maybe get a Transalp 750. Time will tell, cheers!
Really keen to try one out myself!
The “Middleweight Adventurers” then🤭. Same feeling with my 790 Adventure, hooligan!
Yep, that inner hooligan feeling trumps a fair bit
Great content again!
Any news about your TT600R?
Err... Sold it 🤫😐
Very prosaic and I agree with all of it. Thanks.
You're welcome
I kind of get where you're coming from, if I had more than one bike in the shed and a car...I'd feel guilty... do you still have the Landy too.. 😂... the T7s power and weight is great on the road, and on the trail for those who either choose their trails wisely or ride with let's say above average skill. My second bike would be a twin... say 900 ish cc, orange, heavy ish, greedy on the juice and maybe not as reliable as some, I miss that instant surge of power on the road but couldn't cope with it on the trails so much. I'll stick with what I have.... maybe 😂 . Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it all Marc.
Most people would be the same (probably) with a bike that fills the opposite gap. No, the landy has gone, thus the extra toy 😅
Look forward to seeing some mid weight bike adventures
There will certainly be a couple. Be really interested ourselves on how they turn out
I love it, when can I have a go? One of the few bike I would consider swapping for the Unicorn 🦄 701
It's a lovely bike for sure (far too tall for me though) and a good review/summary too 👍 Will you be buying a BBW t-shirt from Clive and Noel to go with it?😀😂😀
Haha, perhaps 😁👌🏻
I think if you have the money then having a very lightweight bike (crf etc) plus a larger adventure bike is the perfect guilty pleasure. I use my 1200gsa for day rides and touring in the EU but would like a crf for commuting and some green laning. Different tools for different uses ✌️🇬🇧
Good combination choice!
Weirdly, I use the CRF fir touring in the EU and the T7 for commuting and green lanes 😅
Just took my world raid down there. Came home put UA-cam on and there you are talking about yours😂 Just fitted Mitas E10 front and E09 rear. Shame we don't have many local lanes to ride despite being so rural. I am struggling with long covid and really need to get some trail time in locally as I don't have the stamina to go further afield at this time.
Ah, no way! I can't say I've ever seen another bike using the lane. Haha, yeah, Peaks is definitely our closest good collection of lanes
@@lightweightadv Doesn't seem to be much bike usage these days. Been a few illegal riders on mx bikes and quads. It's giving me a chance to get used to the new tyres and gives me a bit of practice. Need to get back into it as since having LC my fitness has deteriorated drastically.
Hi, I like the video, and i think your opinions on the bike is right.
I want the new Tenere 700 Extreme 2024. It also hawe a price point between the standard T7 and the T7 world raid.
And i think it hawe the same KYB suspension as the T7 World Raid. And that is the Extreme «biggest» sellingpoint, i think.
Yep, I think the extreme is going to be the best option
I’d love one to go with my CRF but it’s really hard to justify the money, especially on something that I’d end up taking down some really rough lanes. I’m waiting to see what this new Himalayan 450 will be like and cost, maybe that would be a decent alternative?
100%, it Certainly makes you think twice 😕
Yeah on that first point, finding the same thing on my 790 adventure, a fair bit easier and more confidence inspiring to ride on trail than the 390 Adventure...had a bit of fun last night trying to turn it on a steep lane in the rain (on my channel), so weight was a factor then...but overall I'm not thinking lighter is better at the moment.
I genuinely love my small/light bike, but a bit of variety is always good
Nice video!!! What kind of front mudguard do you fit on??? Looks nice!!!!
I got it from Germany, not sure of the brand. The dual brake lines are from the same place
@@lightweightadv can you give me the link?? I would like buy same one!! Thanks
To me the world raid is too top heavy to be considered middle weight. The basic Tenere T7, is a better choice. I would rather have a 1200gs, and a lighter bike, second bike, like a crf300l, honda cb 500x, or even a KTM 890 adventure, standard or R, not to mention the KTM 690r. Also the DRZ 400S,E,SM is a good old school, solid, choice.
I found the stock T7 really top heavy. The world raid feels better weirdly
@@lightweightadv Just came from the dealer, and statically sitting on it, and man handling both, the world raid is noticeably more top heavy. I would never go off road with that machine. The standard, I previously thought of as top heavy, now seems doable, compared.
I've ridden both and own a T7WR. I fitted a lithium battery, and a lighter exhaust, remove the pillion pegs, and I'm about the same weight as a stock T7, very slightly over. I also think the WR feels less top-heavy. Yamaha lowered the fuel tanks compared to the stock bike. I'm an amateur at best and the T7WR did me fine on the Kielder 500 Rally (in the mud, snow and rain) and the Adventure Bike Festival trails. I think it's the bike Yamaha should have made from the start, better suspension, range, seat...
@@HeadhunterUK007 I find this confusing, because the I really thought the T7 WR was top heavy after experiencing it, just sitting on it and moving it around in the show room. And there was the standard T 7 to compare it with. Before this experience, I mentioned to a prominent adventure, and dirt bike blogger that people were claiming the WR less top heavy from the Standard. He dismissed it as absolutely false, and now I must agree with him
Theyre both higher and lower. When full, the CofG is about an inch higher. When half full, it's about an inch lower. That said, I've ridden both and the WR feels better, regardless of if it is or not I suppose. Would be very keen to try the T7 Extreme and see how that compares
I love my T7. It does everything I ask of it. Get it loaded with some gear and take it away on a good trip. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Any ideas for modifications? Or other changes you want to make?
Agreed, I needs to be used I think. It already has a Rally bash plate and tye adventure spec crash bars. It just needs to decent hand guards, a tail tidy and some proper rubber to be complete. Yamaha really did a great job in this bike from standard
Tail tidy is a must. Or rip off most of the stock unit and just keep the top piece with a smaller enduro plate 👌. I’ve got barkbusters on mine. Much stronger than what come stock. See you at the LWA festival next year 👍
Which crash bars do you have?
They're the Adventure Spec bars. Just under 3kg and very strong 👍🏻
I don't get the ego bit. It's a really cool bike.
Lift with the back????? You'll have the green lane health and safety police after you.
😂😂
8:00 Your negative is the bike is to capable? Hmmmm...interesting. Better stick with small displacment dual-purpose bikes then.
Errr, no. You've missed my point a bit there. Anyway, it's been replaced with a bike with equal displacement but 70kg less. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
@@lightweightadv May not have been what you meant, but it is what you said.
Welcome to the Big Bike Wanker Club 😂
Hahaha
Getting sick by all this stupid reviews of a heavy clunker. Just put knobby tires on you goldwing and it is as capable of these iron thing. Talk you your therapist about your misconceptions.
Err 🤔
Who hurt you bro?
