Brought back some nice memories for me. I did this in 1997 I think, and liked it so much I went back with Mrs Camping Astronomer in 2002. You did really well doing it with a dodgy knee as there is so much downhill.
Yes, I have been waiting for this so long too, hard to get 31 minutes uninterrupted time in out house at the moment as we have been looking after out 3 year old grandson (and you thought you were tired) lol. Right from the off the views were amazing and progress for me would be very slow with that scenery to look at. Once you get used to poles they are so useful, for knees, hips and carrying heavy packs. With all those signposts it looks like it would be hard to get lost on that trail and man that final up from the church to the camping area looked a pull mind and what an area to camp. If you are going to get heavy rain the night is the time to get it and I love a hot chocolate first thing in the morning. I suppose if you are in the Alps at some point there is going to be a lot of climbing and you sure climbed on day 2 and one thang that always helps me is shortening my hiking poles when going up and then lengthening them on the way day for additional balance. Those views were jaw dropping mind, I would have just been sat in wonder of it all and that top summit cairn was amazing too. Well deserved food and drink at the top and I think it was those views as well as the sun sending you all loopy, what a view to walk into. No wonder you too the shuttle with a 15 miler to do on day 3 and fair play to you all, amazing effort. Funny to be walking over snow on 30C but another amazing cairn and view at the top. You all deserved that food at the end of day 3 and part 2 looking just as good as this one, cheers Alan
Thanks Alan, yes I did the shortening poles thing on the way up too, it really helped! Just so difficult to film when you are juggling two poles 🙈 we did find the food expensive out there, but very nice most of the time, when Resuppling the options were a bit limited however… it’s ok if you like bread and cheese!! I’m missing being out there already for the views though x hope you had fun with your grandson 🤗

I did this years ago with Exodus, the other way round, I can remember the stunning scenery! I don't remember suffering a lot with altitude but we didn't have it so hot and we weren't carrying all of our sleeping gear etc so that's likely to be a factor x

I have just started to do camping etc after sadly my wife passed away on Christmas day last year I haven't been out yet as getting all the items is not cheap as sadly the funeral repayments etc are taking a lot of my money each month unfortunately but I have most things now I just need a sleeping bag then I will be ready to go but its then having the balls to go out on my own especially with my anxiety etc plus no one I know is interested in camping or hiking etc. I absolutely love watching your videos as there all amazing and u all do such a good job I really wish I had friends like you who I could go out with all the time and do all the hiking and camping etc and just enjoy nature and enjoy having the lovely company etc but anyway please keep!up the good work as your doing absolutely amazing and u deserve all the happiness and success u get in ur life so please take care and stay safe sending lots of hugs and love from Stuart in Scotland xx

I tend to head up to Scotland 3/4 times a year for big camping trips … I’m heading up in a few weeks to do the cape wrath trail but that one’s quite advanced There will be plenty of trips in Scotland 🏴 and maybe you might fancy a holiday camping with us in wales or England too at some point x spread your wings a bit 🤗

Wow, when you say nothing had prepared you for how strenuous it is thats really scary. Thats probably all I need to hear to take it off my bucket list! Hard to beat the cow bells in the Alps, love that sound. That reminds me we still need to buy new trekking poles to replace the ones that got confiscated last year. Knee braces and poles for us this year, check. 27C? 🥵 think the mid 30s id be stopping! Yikes French toilets are something else aren’t they? Good tip about staying at the Rifugios. 7 hours of sleep and waking up to the cows (probably the best wake up on the planet). Now that weather to start day two looks heavenly. One speed setting! Well done adapting to all the weather changes! You’d be mortified if you booked a mule and something happened to it wouldn’t you? Hiking poles take so much pressure off the knee’s don’t they? Well done all on smashing this trip, love the cool down i the snow! 👍

We are all set for next summer(late June). Curious when this was? We are doing Refugio’s, gites, a hotel in Courmayeur, and an auberges. Self booked it all! I see you didn’t do the Tricot or Gours variants, days one and two. Any reason why? We hope to do them!
Hi Kerry .Fantastic area been to Chamonix lots of time had friend who lived at lac Annecy.We used to drive upto grd saint bernard pass to see the dogs ( we had them at home yrs ago) But you such a star leading from the front in all the trails you do .Have you got the yorkshire 3 peaks in your agenda yet.
