After a thorough 5-day fast Tim Altman (Fasting Expert) explains the benefits of my 5 day fast (based off a bioimpedance test) and also the symptoms/side effects i encountered over the 5 day detox.
Originally I had planned on a 5 day water fast. However, after consulting with Tim about my goals and also after he assessed my body type, he recommended a 5 day juice fast / cleanse which incorporated two small juices a day, enemas, colloidal silver and a very thorough reintroduction to food program. Tim said a water fast is more aligned to people needing a much deeper style cleanse and detox; normally those with some form of debilitating illness.
In this video, Tim responds to all my questions about the symptoms / side effects I got over this 5 day fast and also discusses the benefits I will see from my positive test results. I had a MASSIVE CLEANSE!

MY story. I went to bed Sunday night after eating a pizza, big bag of chips, 6 pack of beer and a couple cocktails. Woke up Monday at 7. Fell back asleep. Got back up at 11 and had to cancel work. Felt so horrible I decided to stop everything and go on a fast. I had done one 10 years ago for 3 days and knew I'd feel great after a couple days. I stayed on for 128 hours till Saturday morning. I went from 155lbs to 144.2lbs. I did moderate exercise for an hour as much as my body would handle. TRUTH- this time I felt out of it till Friday. It's now saturday morning as I type and I'm drinking coffee and going to eat in about an hour. I feel like a new man...Fasting works- even if you dont do it right- it's the hardest "easy" thing you'll ever do.

Theres different types of fast tho. U can fast from certain food items or all, then sum or all beverages except water.

My friends fasting is magical... I did fasting for 4 days in regular intervals.. like i would eat for 7 days and then fast for 4 I did this for 2 months and lost 12kg.. from 84 to 72.. and it wasn't that hard trust me.. it also helps you to gain control over your mind.

Big di*k Tyrone I’m still alive so that’s good. The hunger pain never goes away. Absolutely brutal but great learning experience. Made me realize that most of our hunger comes from cravings and not actual physical hunger. Makes normal healthy diets easy as my body now knows the difference between the two. From my experience 80% of the hunger was just from cravings so it’s a huge mental battle. Pro tip: when headaches get severe mix a bottle of water w/ one tbs of pink salt.

I love fasting, just don't like how much I think about food, it's staggering the amount of time we spend thinking about, preparing and eating food while not fasting.
Day 2 of my dry fasting and tomorrow Ill be starting water fast for the next 7 days

I finished my 8 days water fast successfully and I lost 5kg gained 1kg after a week of slowly eating again

@@bleach--__--2493 oh I ak not active on both. But I can give you tips. Go on for dry fasting first. Try not to drink water as long as you can and if you feel hungry and feel like giving up drink a glass and you will realize you are not really hungry but is only thirsty
2. Set your mind. Think that after days of fasting you can have a day to eat whatever you want. Prepare a reward for yoursel and it will keep you going
3. Avoid going to tge kitchrn or somewhere foods are placed. It will only seduce you and you might be tempted to end your fast
4.Do some hobbies. For me, I draw, study since I am still a student or just watch videos. Distract yourself from thinking of food.
5.watch motivational videos, meditate and relax. Belive that you can do it
Trust me. This is what I did and continue doing. Im on my second day water fast right now for the third time trying fasting. Good luck!

I'm on day 5 of a 5-day water fast. I can’t wait until tomorrow! I did my 5 day fast for a body reset. I've done a 7-day water fast before, and it was really challenging. Many water fasters will report that they felt very light and energized from around day 4-5. I never experienced that. What didn't help either was that I watched basically all episodes of Chef's Table on Netflix in a row 🙈. I finally broke my fast with some cucumber and avocado. And it was heavenly, lol!
This time around, it was easier. The first 3 days were pretty bearable actually, I still got to do some work. But on day 4, I couldn't function. All I did was lay on the couch and watch series. I don't even want to watch anything anymore, but it's a way to keep me occupied cause I don't have the energy to work. I'm also experiencing brain fog: yesterday, it took me 5 minutes to figure out what day it was...
This is the final day, and I feel more or less similar to yesterday. The end is near, though 😀. I like what Matt of Yes Theory said about his water fast and seeking discomfort: _"You have to force yourself to lack things. Otherwise, you're just going to think everything is kinda normal, available and you're not gonna appreciate it."_
Doing this fast gave me a newfound appreciation for the good things in life, especially all the tasty delicious foods out there that sometimes I may take for granted. I'm a big proponent of slow living, and doing a 5 day water fast will surely slow you down. In that sense, it also has a spiritual component. We've been given this amazing body, and we need to nurture it to be able to function properly. But by overfeeding it, we're actually doing ourselves a disservice. A fast is way to reset your body and give it time to heal. And it makes me appreciate that, without a healthy body, everything I want to do and put out there in the world, cannot happen.

Thanks for sharing this. It really helps me. I’m on day 5 of a water fast. Although I can feel this is doing amazing things for my body, health and spirit , I have very often found it extremely difficult from the beginning. I thought by day 5 I’d be experiencing all that energy people talk about, but actually I’m more exhausted than any day so far.

Growing up, I never realized fasting was unusual. For spiritual reasons, my mom goes on at least one 3 day fast per month, and often does 7-10 day fasts a few times a year, and she’s very healthy.
I had an uncle that did a few 40 day fasts (he died in his early 60s though, so I don’t recommend going that long).
And don't drink plain water.

@@simplygriffo2527 you need mineral salts ( sodium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus). It makes the fasting process easier.
And yes you can add lemon juice to your salt water.
@Matt Davis It sounds as if you’re implying he died as a result of fasting, therefore I ask… What other issues did he have? What underlying health issues did he suffer from? What type of lifestyle did he live?
@@DillionJones21 at 40 days, the body is using protein for energy. You're literally eating your own heart. It gets weak and thin, which is dangerous.

Sorry to hear, I use Lite Balance (Sodium, Magnesium and Potassium) every day I fast. If you attempt another, remember to include body salts in your drinks. I find Organic Ginger tea allows me to take my Life Balance easily.
Wow, I'd love to hear that gentleman's take on the keto rash. When I do a water fast I get a rash all over my body as a byproduct of high ketones in the bloodstream, around day 3-4, but there's not much research online. It would definitely be cool to work through a fast with an expert like that and let them analyze what may be going on with the body.
if your kidneys are hurting/aching while fasting you probably aren’t drinking enough water, that’s always my sign that i should drink more water while fasting and it eventually goes away

I'm 49 hours in. Need to beat 94 hours which was the length of my last fast a few months ago. I am just on water, water with added Himalayan pink salt/ bicarbonate of soda/potassium chloride and green tea only. 3 litres in total, no brown tea or coffee. I was 99.6 kg at the start. I do them to detoxify and weight loss. This time I won't give in and have a goal of 120 hours, I will go longer if comfortable. My problem is a few weeks after I get back on the biscuits/chocolate/ ice cream and energy drinks. I don't drink alcohol anymore and smoke.

I don’t drink coffee much, but during my 5 day fast I drink 12oz a day 2 out of the 5 days to help accelerate the liver discharge of fat as I’m trying to avoid NAFLD. It’s ok to drink coffee black if you aren’t a heavy consumer of it. Coffee actually helps as long as it’s a small amount; otherwise, you get the shakes.
Day 3 is the hard part, also sleep on the floor flat surface will help as well.
For me the 2 day is the most hard and 5 day too haha

Symptoms sound like electrolyte levels, not "detox". Add salt, potassium, and magnesium to avoid. (I do 3-5 day fasts every 3 months and continue working out. Miserable without at least salt!)
@shashank99kunwar yes, although I try to time so I don't have my krav maga classes scheduled for the very end, as high intensity gets tiring. I still do weights okay though.
Do you get potassium and magnesium from supplements such as a pill? As for the salt do you add it to your water or do you dry scoop it?

Im 60 hours into my 5 day water fast, fighting the crave of digging into food, stomach has been consistently rumbling with diarrhea, legs are aching/fatigued but not bad holding out
I'm 65 hours in and I have the exact same symptom. I have a very bad headache as well and feel exhausted.
Get electrolytes. Period
As a type 1 diabetic I was very wary of fasting, However decided to give it a whirl and started doing 4 day water fasts, So I have to monitor my blood sugars. Insulin down from about 40 units to 7 units in 24 hours. I feel great, but I do feel it gets harder not easier.

I’ve completed three separate three day fasts. Only drank water. No salt, no supplements. Did a lot of exercising including long distance running and sprinting in the park in the middle of the summer. Never felt weak or lightheaded. Totally normal, if not more energy. However I also didn’t notice much of a body fat loss (visually) as compared to all the before and after videos you see.

Have done a lot of fasting this year.
After 3 months break from long fast I started a 5 day fast last week. I was too hungry, dissy, weak and gave up.
This week I started again and it is so much easier. On day 3 now and do not feel any hunger at all so 5 days should be easy.
It is interesting what causes the change in hunger and dissines. I will drink some picked juice on this fast to see if it makes a difference.
Also interesting that if I re-feed too much, too quickly, i get diarré within 1-2 hours. Meaning that food goes through me in just a few hours.
Im gonna try this for my long covid symptoms. Wish me luck!

My experience is that you need to drop your blood glucose levels and raise ketones, thus nutritional ketosis. To get into deep nutritional ketosis, (some also would call this Autophagy, ), a zero calorie fast would be required. I took me 4 days to reach a 59mgdl glucose level/4.9mmol ketone level. I would also recommend doing intermittent fasting before prolonged fasting. This will prepare your body mentally/physically.

I finished my 120 hour fast (5 days) two weeks ago. My first two fasts were 50 hours and 60 hours. Compared to the shorter fasts, I feel my intestine became much younger and doing better than my shorter fasts. After my shorter fasts, my skin was smoother but it got back to usual in about 7-10 days. My skin is still smooth after 14 days.

I’m at day 2 of 5 and i have mad migraines but I’ll keep going. Not my first fast, have done 3 days up to 5 times and 7 days twice. Doing five days now I’ll keep updating. I’m on day 2 and I’ll be updating my weight loss here: goal weight is 58kg currently on 80kg
You have to live for many decades, so don't think to get results in a ultra short term dear I recommend you to focus on goal not on time, stick with 21 hour's of fasting everyday and 3 hour's of eating window , do it consistently and you will see the results in 3 month's, give yourself atleast 3 to 4 months so those things which we are losing won't come back. Stop every processed food even ketchup or mayonnaise bread, just take fruits salad enough protein but natural not sausages.

@@Britishpakistani2023 I decided to fast because I needed the clarity you get while on a longer fast. I still don't know why my kidneys hurt at all it wasn't even the electrolytes, however around day 10 I woke up and the pain was just gone. Made it all 30 days got all the clarity I needed to make that important decision, all of it seemed to work for the best. I also lost 20lbs after refeeding too so 👍👍
@@Britishpakistani2023 I have also incorporated a regular fasting at irregular intervals into my life and feel 10 years younger. Always consult your DR but as an uneducated laymen I highly recommend!
@@seanmiller292 That's awesome. I fast around 29 / 30 days a year from sun rise to sun set. But due to culture we open our fasts with fried foods, sweet foods and most of the time unhealthy foods. Anyway my kidneys hurt due to lack of water. One of my friends also confirmed the same. That pain went when we increased water. A 5 : 2 fasting is also recommended for us. A lot of people do it due to religion. Time I try it too.
Starting is the biggest crisis for me.
My 5 days were a bit different... i basically felt normal... more energetic. i also didn't feel hungry. In regards to sleep... man oh man, i have not had such good sleeps in a long long time. So i basically didn't eat a thing. I did however have about 2 cups of tea(no sugar) and water per day.

I like to do juice fasts all the time. I will restrict myself only to apple, orange or grape juice and watermellon slices. Other than that, it's nothing other than a few bananas or the occasional chocolate brownie. After fasting I feel so much healthier and better, it works. It just works

On my sixth day, it’s getting pretty difficult a few times a day now. I’ve done this dozens of times in my life and I usually hit a wall around 7-9 days or so. My energy goes to sustained 0 and at that point I start taking in calories

I’m doing a 3 days fast ( only consuming plain water, plain coffee and plain tea, and water with salt and lemon juice). I’m on day 2 now, already down 1.25 kilos! Planning to go on an intermittent fast for 6 days straight after my 3 day fast ( planning to have an 8 hour eating window , 16 hour fasting for the 6 days). Wish me luck!

Detoxing symptoms are a lot less and I have more energy today. (Only drinking water)

I started my 5 day fast on Friday night at 296 LBS I'm on day 5 just weighed in Tuesday at 283.5 definitely learned it's about giving my body a break vs how much weight I can lose.
Good luck to all that attempt fasting it will definitely test your mind body and spirit but you will be amazed how strong and determined you can be.
So much easier to do a 5 day fast once you are fat adapted. It is imperative for blood glucose to remain stable at all times. Any other way, the incessant hunger would be unbearable.
How would one become 'fat adapted' as you say? Is it best to go for a 3-day fast first, then try the 5-day fast?
@@RichLadyThoughts do one meal a day for three months...then do a 48 hour fast...next try for a three day fast...no need to exceed three days...then go back to omad....here's the bad news though....hope you can afford to buy a new wardrobe because your cloths aren't gonna fit after just a month on omad

Didn't end up being the case for me Kane, and the goal was a detox. The juices have medicinal purposes to help cleanse. It depends on what your goal is. Cam
Juice fasting/feasting is basically a calorie restrictive diet so of course you will lose some fat. However, you won't switch over to full ketosis on the juices because of the carbohydrate intake. A water only fast will have you enter true fat fuel mode/ketosis in roughly 3 days after all the glycogen is burnt up.

That's true it can only be water no juices. Water has no calories while juices have calories basically it's like eating food. So I suggest only water no juices.

Do you have GERD? On day 2 my gerd /acid reflux started to kick in need to break the fast, I think that because I don’t drink 3 liters of water

Drink water when you fast!!! . Half teaspoon of salt. No headaches day 6. pack and half cig habit, half pot of coffee and sugar already a memory and broken habit.
Guys I do have experience with water fasting for 6 years it go well every year for me, but I did 3 years pause and I did now 5 days I wanted do more but I was force to broke my fast because of acidity. It started day 2 every day get worst. I try every natural stuff but nothing worked. If someone had these acidity effect please write how you overcome it? And why started the acidity?
I'm on day 10 and I feel so good, 2 more days to go.

I did stages. The first month or two was keto and giving up sugar and carbs. Thats was difficult. Then I stopped craving meat and felt like less dairy. The raw food diet was not as big a jump. I did that along with a parasite cleanse. Now trying a fruit fast. Missing junk food though.

@@jvb8035 you have to find a formula with things like wormwood, black walnut, ...something that says for killing parasites at the health food store or order from dr. morse. Start taking it three days before a full moon. Take it for a month, You can do one week on and a few days off and another week on for a month. Take a break and do it another month to get the eggs. Dr. morse also has a formula for the smaller bugs like fungus which you can take for a long time. This helps with cravings since parasites are partly what makes us crave the bad foods. Also most of us have them and they can cause many weird issues. When you take the formula the die off can cause some symptoms. If you can it would be good to take something that makes you poop (Dr. morse GI renew) ...slippery elm. And perhaps something to support the kidneys.

Reah Ray A tip. I’m not sure of your age but if you have access to a blood pressure machine I recommend you use it. My pulse rate increased because my sugar levels were low. Make sure you monitor that. If you run into that problem get some orange juice so can bring your sugar levels back up. On my seventh day I had lemon water, it tasted so damn good. It was the first flavored anything I had in seven days. Good luck to you too.
