Great story. I remember seeing this in the theater and loving it. It was popular and a lot of people liked it. It was competing against Octopussy. Like most of the late era Roger Moore movies Octopussy got too long and mired in weird unrealistic sci - fi type nonsense. Never say Never again was so much better. I also liked that they dealt with the realization of an aging Bond. They call him back before he gets too old to help with one last big case. Also. Roger Moore wasn’t even young. He was in the same age bracket as Connery. He was just trying to act younger which was ridiculous. It was a good movie. The only reason people trash it 30 years after it was made is because it isn’t an “Official” Bond Movie. Don’t believe them. If you’re a fan of the original series you’ll like this.

Yes, Sean's quoted of saying (at the "view to a kill" premiere) something like "enough of this, you're doing it wrong. Bond should be played by someguy around 33, 35. Roger's too old, I'm too old". so Sean would NOT be playing Bond forever (or as long as the franchise is now) if he never turned it down (twice).

Its interesting reading these comments about Barry Norman and how youtubers are getting his humour wrong. At the time he was one of the BBCs biggest stars. Have people lost their sense of humour?
I remember reading many years ago, the powers that be wished to create a movie that would encompass all the actors that played bond into a single sitting. The idea was pertaining to a mission to dangerous for a single 007 operative to achieve successfully, as that only one 007 agent would be active at a single time, with the given name of Bond for earlier misadventures. One can only imagine the ensuing powerhouse of non stop one liners....
This film was never my favourite because I was a child in the 60's and i still love the decade today because of the ICONIC films, Pop Art, Music, Fashion, and the world seemed so much more glamorous. Like my late parents who were in their late 20's during the DRAB 50's and up to around 1955 there was still rationing in Britain and they were just living their HUM DRUM lives. The 60's bought them the Bond Franchise and the first 6 were just so different and there was none of the 50's Kitchen sink dramas and plays and films mirroring their own lives. One more reason why the first 6 were so popular was far off exotic filming locations. My parents could never have afforded to go 'ABROAD' so they saw Istanbul and the Bosphorus River By the time this film came out making films was, of course, so much different from the previous 20+ years and i know things move on but there was too much tech, too many car chases and what was then basic CGI. By the 80's the world was 'smaller' and the human race started to travel all over the world so there was a different attitude. Sean did look a lot fitter and leaner but there were so many production problems and although the director Irvin Kershner knew Sean having directed him in a Fine Madness and with Kevin McClory as well involved in this it was bound not to run smoothly.. McClory i believe was chasing Sean for quite a few years to get him to do this film.
It's really great that he did make another Bond. And who cares if it's not part of the 'official' Eon ones? The viewers and fans can make up their mind about what composition of Bond narratives is most meaningful to them. So you can have an alternative Thunderball, with the key elements like characters done very faithfully to the original material.

Actually , Never say never again is a marvellous title for a Bond movie. Much better that the redundant titles with kill and die. Sounds like a title Fleming would use.
I am rather surprised to see Sean say that his interpretation of James Bond was more realistic than Roger Moore's. It may be true with movies like From Russia with Love, but Never Say Never Again is like any Roger Moore Movie - a silly parody of the original Bond.
true, but the original intent probably wasn't to do that - and you can tell Sean had differences with the parties involved - bad directing; bad score; sketchy casting; 007 inertia likely all contributed to what ended up on the screen
There's no doubt he's right. When he does humor, its less forced and more natural, whereas Moore was going for the joke. He's also right that the focus of the series from Thunderball onwards was on the spectacle, and with the solid exception of OHMSS, that had been the case for most of the Bonds, except FYEO which was also too recent and probably Connery hadn't seen. But he had seen Moonraker, and noted just how silly it was by the end of it.
WOW! I had no idea he was bald in 1983. I thought he didn't go bald until the late 80s, but I was only 1 in 1982 so I didn't watch his movies until much later.
BRAD PITT Do you know this for a fact because it doesn't sound right. In YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE his hairline seemed to recede naturally. Also, I remember seeing him in ROBIN AND MARIAN in the late 70s and he had a bald spot then. Could he have worn a wig in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER? It's possible but there were scenes where the wind was pretty fierce and if it was a hairpiece, it held up pretty well.
If you watch "The Anderson Tapes" then you know how bald he really was in "Diamonds Are Forever", which were both released in 1971. And yes, he started losing hair in his twenties, but it was not like he bald already back then.
'Film' as a TV program, is a very pale shadow of what it was. Before 'Film', there was Parkinson's 'Cinema', also excellent. Today, it is basically unwatchable, fronted by a couple of complete idiots.
+Alexander Ryan I don't freakin care what anybody saids, this has Connery playing 007 so the Fleming Estate and MGM should include it as another entry of Bond universe. This would equal Roger Moore's same amount of times to do Bond. So for me this is like the 25th entry. 25 Bond film for 53 years including the new one coming out in November making it 26. I say not a bad track record and cannot wait for more adventures to come out. I like this film. I was going to say also that as a tribute in one of the new films they should have a portrait of Connery as Bond maybe have him be like Bond's grandfather that quietly went into retirement and his son or grandson taking the name up. It would definitely being interesting take. Too bad Daniel Craig does not do this in the new film Spectre. I got a feeling Blo Feld is coming back. Will be interesting take, but yes I like this film. So your not alone.
I own every Bond film made.. Connery is my favorite Bond. everyone after him was a cheap imitation, Moore was not that good, NSNA to me is one of the better bond films, I agree Connery should play him self as Bond and the new Bond as his grandson taking the name or being bond the 3rd, with an appearance by Connery and I agree with T8HPO, it SHOULD be listed as an official Bond film and not shunted as being a unauthorized bootleg.
Despite hinting at retirement, he made 24 more feature films after this. RIP, Sir Sean.
Hard to believe both Sean Connery and Roger Moore are now behind the Pearly Gates. Rest in peace guys

Sridhar Poosalapati more realistic than Roger Moore ??????????????????/
BRAD PITT
That is what Connery said in this interview :D
There's no doubt he's right. When he does humor, its less forced and more natural, whereas Moore was going for the joke. He's also right that the focus of the series from Thunderball onwards was on the spectacle, and with the solid exception of OHMSS, that had been the case for most of the Bonds, except FYEO which was also too recent and probably Connery hadn't seen. But he had seen Moonraker, and noted just how silly it was by the end of it.
This is 007jamesbond movies is a very good moive and very interesting filming.
Recall to fall in with Actual adoration..... Yes... Never keep otf any thing for tomorrow for tomorrow may not be yours....
WOW! I had no idea he was bald in 1983. I thought he didn't go bald until the late 80s, but I was only 1 in 1982 so I didn't watch his movies until much later.
connery wore a wig since he was 20
people never notice because he is so damn charismatic
BRAD PITT Do you know this for a fact because it doesn't sound right. In YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE his hairline seemed to recede naturally. Also, I remember seeing him in ROBIN AND MARIAN in the late 70s and he had a bald spot then. Could he have worn a wig in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER? It's possible but there were scenes where the wind was pretty fierce and if it was a hairpiece, it held up pretty well.
hes the man
the man with the midas wig
a spiders wig
just
a ccoolldddd wig
If you watch "The Anderson Tapes" then you know how bald he really was in "Diamonds Are Forever", which were both released in 1971. And yes, he started losing hair in his twenties, but it was not like he bald already back then.
+Pulsar Stargrave He definitely wore a wig in diamonds are forever
„Sie trinken zu viele Wodka-Martinis, essen zu viel rohes Fleisch und zu viel Weissbrot.“ „Gut Sir, dann werde ich das Weissbrot weglassen.“ 😅😂🤣
Impressed unterview from Sean Connery that shows the real man despite the time passed
My name is Bond. Mari Bond. Have said this more than once. Have two Bond sons...
Rip sir :(
The evergreen connorey
What was Patrick McGoohan doing to his face at 3:36? I don't remember this scene from the movie "Hell Drivers", in which both of them were cast.
What Connery says is just a big 'fuck you' to Cubby Brocolli. The latter who founded Connery to portray Bond in the first place
Where can we watch N.S.N.A. delete scenes?
Did that producer ever produce the sable coat for Mrs. Connery 🤔
'Film' as a TV program, is a very pale shadow of what it was. Before 'Film', there was Parkinson's 'Cinema', also excellent. Today, it is basically unwatchable, fronted by a couple of complete idiots.
Hermozo hasta viejo y que VOZ , super sexy.
Sorry you wife.
😚😚😉😉💪👏👍👍🙌
RIP Big Tam.
"Perhaps should be named Felix Darka"
Anyone know the intro music?
sean came back to Bond for 1.2 million which he donated to his own charity.
26:30 “We continue?”
“Coursh”
the best bond of course
Of coursh.
Am I the only one that liked this film?
I like all the Bond films
Alexander Ryan yeshh
09.10 ish for the Felix Darker bit
Forgot how good Bazza was.
