@@anmananmananman In a way yes. But what has actually changed ? The boost is still there, and the way it worked in Frontiers is being effectively resetted by this one back to the Unleashed/Generations version. Yes, they make such a big deal about the story being "serious" and "respecting the lore", but Frontiers (and most likely this one too) was a whole load of nothing where most dialogue was just referencing old games, to give the illusion of a "canonical timeline". But for most of the game, nothing happens basically, and Amy, Knuckles and Tails simply have a rehashing of their SA1 character arcs, spelled out loud by the character themselves ("I want to spread love to the world", "I want to be free from my duty as Guardian", "I want to be my own person and not depend on you, Sonic"). @@yrooxrksvi7142wrong in every way to Sunday. First, what’s your problem with the boost? The only game it was an issue was in forces, but even if you DON’T boost in that game, the levels are still about the same length aka like two minutes. It was fine in unleashed, colors, and generations, and was good for frontiers open world. If it’s really that much of an issue for you, then just don’t use it in this game, you aren’t obligated to, and these levels are lasting like 5 minutes in speedrun time, showing they’re good length. There’s alternate paths, secrets, optimal routes, powers, QTES, by definition this isn’t boost to win because you actually have to make conscious choices and aren’t just pressing the boost button in a straight line and jumping maybe one or twice and the level’s over. Secondly, nostalgia pandering? Did you forget this is GENERATIONS? You know, the anniversary look back game where you run through reimagined old stages, except this time it’s for shadow’s late 20th as well as a refresh for all the new fans on his character, because of the movie featuring him coming out like two months after? Knuckles and Amy though, I’ve played the adventure games countless times, nowhere does knuckles ever say he wants to be free from his duty as guardian, he questions why he’s guardian in adventure 1, but when he finds out exactly WHY he is it’s fine with him. And Amy’s arc wasn’t about “spreading love to the whole world” it was about learning to gain a little of her own independence so sonic doesn’t have to save her every time, as well as hoping maybe her new boldness might get sonic to notice her more, because something like that is literally right up his alley. But you people will always complain at literally nothing because you’re bitter at Sega and sonic team for failing in the past to the point you refuse to acknowledge when they are trying to learn from their mistakes.
I had no idea that using Chaos Control while the Biolizard’s arms are attacking could directly damage it. I mean, I pondered on whether you could do that, but never expected that. Edit: some improvements could be made for both Space Colony Ark and the Biolizard: SCA: once you filled the Chaos Control Gauge after the missile QTE, you can activate it immediately. Once you do, not only will your Boost Gauge be full, but you can use that 5-second head start to its fullest; when you activated after Black Doom disappeared you only used around 3 seconds of it. This will save you more time. Biolizard: Before the Biolizard performs that grand slam, position yourself close to one of its arms (but not too close that you get hit by the shockwave) and perform a Chaos Attack afterwards. This will cause its eggs to disperse, forming a ladder towards its core, but before you reach it activate Chaos Control to save more time.
The sound design since Frontiers became fire! It was fine in Forces too, but Frontiers is so loud and I love it! (plus Forces re-used some sounds from Lost World/Boom games on the 3DS)
Thank you for the footage. Also, pretty interesting and cool that finishing the Chaos Snap combo before Chaos Control runs out on the orb arms causes a chain reaction to instantly damage the Biolizard. Wonder what other unique interactions you can use it and Doom Powers for later.

Interesting, the quickstep doesn't seem to overshoot like it did in Frontiers (and I think Forces too?), unlike in the demo in Summer Game Fest in which the quickstep still felt like the one in Frontiers
Yeah, seems like they fixed the quickstep issue that was in Forces and Frontiers. Thank God lol. Frontiers quickstep doesn't move far enough into the other lane while Forces moves too far ( like a lane and a half ) making collectable red rings super easy to miss during quickstep sections in Forces.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed this, in fact I went back and played Forces yesterday and the Quick Step does move too far which I also remember from when it came out
Is it too much in Forces? I have both (Forces and Frontiers) and they both feel alright to me. (The wheel is so much better in Frontiers tho, in Forces it controls better but it's too short and is rarely useful at all)
Generations was disgustingly basic. And Frontiers had decent ideas with the combos, but were shoddily executed. Random ahh question, but when you did the quickstep, how delayed did it feel? Was there like a delay beetween pressing the button and shadow stepping aside
How hard would you say the ranking system was on a scale of 1-10, 1 being easier than generations, and 10 being harder than unleashed, and also did the ranking system almost solely focus on speed like gens or did you have to keep track of rings and enemies killed like in unleashed
I never played Unleashed, so I wouldn't exactly know if Shadow Gen's ranking system is easier/harder than that. But it did felt like that, next to completing the level as fast as possible, you'd also have to keep track of your rings. So I would guess a 6-7? I'm not really the best at deciding a number for it, so apologies.
The first sub 5 minutes. I think the main reason why everyone keeps running out of boost is because you don't get boost from defeating enemies, which is a weird change

Hey, Idk if you can still play the game or not, but if you could, could you record gameplay with the Spanish dub? Bc the case of Sonic is that the old spanish voice that va'd him on Generations passed away a couple of years ago (R.I.P.), and I would like to know if they replaced his voicelines, or they're still using them. (And also to check on Shadow's voicelines as well)
Gamescom has ended already and I only attended it on the Thursday. Sad to hear that Sonic's old Spanish VA has passed away though, didn't knew about that
The control scheme is based on Frontiers, same for the base game but you can change the controls to match the original for the Sonic Generations half. They only updated the controls so both halves played consistently
They’re using the Frontiers control scheme by default, and it feels much better than having to hold down a face button and then trying to reach your thumb to another. You can still use the old control scheme from what I’ve heard.
Probably beating it for the fist time i guess. You kinda have to get doom wings for the second act(if that moment from the summer game fest even in the game)
@@purplebruh947 It's not a lie. At Summer Games Fest Fadel played the Biolizard boss fight and THEN came back after and used it. You unlock it in the boss.

Final Chase looks more colorful in this footage compared to the trailers. It may just be the camera though and it probably is still really desaturated and not as vibrant as the original version. It doesn’t kill the game for me. But it’s just jarring as a game from decades ago has more color and life than the new game that’s supposed to be on better hardware.
This is something that did bother me at first, but tonally, I think that having it be like that fits Shadow's character, while the more vibrant stuff fits Sonic. And I think they did enough to try and match the presentation of the original that I don't mind that the two halves don't look cohesive
It's a mix between footage being recorded on a bad capture and not being captured on an OLED screen. The game is much more vibrant in person and on a good quality screen

Really can't wait
One thing I wanted to know, is it possible to perform the homing dash on the springs and rails? It would be cool for the glitch to become an official feature lol
I'm not entirely sure about this, but I hope for it too
0:09 Oh man. Don't look TOO excited now or else people are gonna think you're faking the hype 😂🤣💀
If possible, could you stand still during the radical highway part and let the raw music play? I've been. Dying to hear that remix.
I’m not calling this level design top tier or anything
But so far it’s looking like it could be better than anything we’ve seen in Forces and Frontiers cyberspace stages
My expectations are in check for sure but Shadow Generations is showing promise
SonicStadium released some Kingdom Valley videos. Maybe you'll like those.
@@shiroutheherotraceon3313 yeh that video has upped my anticipation for the game
Still keeping my expectations in check but my faith in the game has definitely increased
Sad to hear that Sonic's old Spanish VA has passed away though, didn't knew about that
@@startz_hhk thx for responding then
What really throws me off is that instead of boosting with the Square button, you hold down R2 trigger
You can still use the old control scheme from what I’ve heard.

what triggers Shadow getting the emblem after Black Doom runs?
Probably beating it for the fist time i guess. You kinda have to get doom wings for the second act(if that moment from the summer game fest even in the game)
THANK YOUUU❤
Can Shadow use Chaos Spears during the normal levels as well or is it only for that one part of the boss?
Only at Biolizard for now
@@startz_hhkThats a lie tho, fadel has a gameplay where he used chaos spear in the radical highway part
@@purplebruh947 It's not a lie. At Summer Games Fest Fadel played the Biolizard boss fight and THEN came back after and used it. You unlock it in the boss.
@@CaptainF123 yes, and you still can use it in normal levels and not just biolizard fight. His question was about possibility of using it, not if it was available at the start
@@purplebruh947 I didn't knew about that, I only gathered information from my own experiences during the demo. Do you eventually have a link to his footage? I'm kinda interested to see
Speedrun at its finest
start the demo. Immediately gets rid of Kirk. Based.
can you change it to the old controls? I’ve always preferred the old ones
You can switch to Legacy/Old Controls, or even map the controls to your own liking

Trailers have a piss filter on them for some reason, i dont know why. Not the new one tho, doom powers trailer looks clean
It's a mix between footage being recorded on a bad capture and not being captured on an OLED screen. The game is much more vibrant in person and on a good quality screen
@@just_an_elli you played it?
@@harrisoncora4259 Yeah I played the demo back in June during Summer Games Fest. It was the same as the one shown off here with minor differences
