    An amazing pumpkin pie trick, make the batter one day ahead and let it sit in the fridge overnight (not in the pie shell). Bake it the next day. The texture is smoother and the spices are more pronounced.

    25 years ago I made a pumpkin pie that was so bad, it ended up in the trash, and I never tried again UNTIL I saw your video. I have made so many of your desserts that I knew this would be fantastic. It was!!! Thanks for putting homemade pumpkin pie back into my dessert rotation, Sam.

    I just got done making this pumpkin pie and I can’t wait for my family to enjoy it tomorrow. Thank you for this wonderful recipe. I have made so many of your amazing recipes. My favorite is your soft and chewy gingerbread snaps cookies. They are absolutely delicious & my family loves them. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for taking time to share your wonderful recipes with us all.❤.

    Another success for me. You give the best tips! I was worried the filling was too much, but it all fit in the pie shell. 😆 I did use a pre-made pie shell.

    👏👏👏 Cloves are the Devil 😂 I don't try too many seasonal things in the fall because they get snuck into recipes. Once we went to Olive Garden and I tried a delicious looking limited time pasta...the sauce had cloves. I was just going to order something else but the manager was kind and took that off our bill. Anyway. Hate cloves 😂

    QUESTION: Could I substitute the brown sugar for a sugar free like Splenda? And would you know a sugestión on how much to use???

    • @SugarSpunRun
      @SugarSpunRun  3 роки тому

      Thank you! Unfortunately I’m not sure how it would go because I don’t bake with splenda too often. Hopefully someone else can chime in with some insight. If you do try it I would love to know how it goes. 🙂

    • @booshki
      @booshki 3 роки тому

      Splenda makes a brown sugar blend, I would use that. And the ratio for the brown sugar blend is 2:1. So for every one cup of brown sugar use half a cup of brown sugar blend. That would mean for this particular recipe you would use a 1/4 cup plus 2 TBSP.

    • @SugarSpunRun

      What is the difference between using a can of pure pumpkin I bought at the store and using a bag of sugar I bought at the store? Is it not from scratch if I use sugar that I bought at the store? They are both whole ingredients that go into the pie. If I used a pumpkin pie filling out of a can I think I could agree with you, but that's not the case here. I hope you love the pie! :)

    • @FamilyExodus
      @FamilyExodus 3 місяці тому +1

      The recipe is for (pumpkin) pie from scratch. If I was looking for an apple pie from scratch I would expect to see at the very least a reference to watch a video on how to make an apple filling. Found it on a UK channel which was so easy I made a lot and froze some for later use. Now I have a jar of sweet and salty pumpkin seeds.

      I get this comment a lot and something about using pumpkin seems to really offend people. I don't grow my own sugar cane, or vanilla bean, or milk my own cows, or harvest my own spices so how is that different? Canned pumpkin is a whole ingredient. It's not pumpkin pie filling...

    Using a can isn't exactly making it from scratch.

    • @SugarSpunRun
      @SugarSpunRun  3 місяці тому

      If I were using pumpkin pie filling I’d agree with you, this is simply puréed pumpkin which is a whole ingredient. Saying using this is not making it from scratch is like saying baking a cake isn’t from scratch if you didn’t mill the flour yourself.

  • @nsL182

      I link to the pie crust in the description. I also have gotten a lot of hate for using a can of pumpkin and I am so confused how using a whole ingredient out of a can is any different than opening a bag of sugar. I don’t grow my own sugar cane plants… does that make anything else not from scratch?
