I’m pretty sure Isayama was going to kill him off there but decided not to, but either way we can say he survived because he is an Ackerman, and Zeke only survived because Ymir built his body back up.

I've actually had a similar theory about Levi's height. When the Beast Titan is pelting scouts with rocks in RTS, Zeke remarks that he may have missed some targets because he was shooting too high (he missed killing Levi). So Levi being short saved his life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I always thought it was annoying that Levi was standing so close to the thunder spear. I immediately foresaw that it was gonna happen and I was pretty pissed because I thought he was basically done for.

They were never designed to actually the main cast of characters. If you don't believe me look at every single time a thunderspears was used in the series. They never ever kill the Titan shifters, survey corps and only ever injure or kill normal titans. Go back and check and you'll see.
Well you may be right but the explanation in the anime counteracts that thunder spears are basically far ranged blades they don’t aim for the kill because they plan to cut them out and take them alive it’s just like how the survey corps used the blades against shifters to cut them up not kill them
I mean I honestly wasn’t surprised he lived Kenny managed to survive the rod reiss cave collapse while he subscribed to his injuries the fact that Kenny is in his 50s and was already injured from getting slashed by Levi it’s safe to say the Ackermans are like Naruto charecters their human but heightened durability and endurance it’s just that Naruto charecters are well naruto

As a Levi lover - and agreeing that it is plot armour - it could have just never happened. This entire situation was entirely avoided and the controversy would have never happened. Isayama made a very good overall story, but he doesn't seem to know exactly what he is doing other than that. He implements things that just don't make sense when he could have just never put them in the first place.
I read somewhere that isayama originally intended that he would die in that moment but his editor said no as levi had become one of the most popular characters in the series

My theory is Isayama planed Levis death but since he knew how many fans he has and maybe also the braindead fans who send him death threats made Levi surrive AoT
like correct me if i’m wrong but it’s bc he didn’t want zeke to transform basically holding him hostage if he tried to transform the thunder spear would of instantly blown him up but also it’s kind of understandable that he didn’t think all the way through he’s not notorious for being smart and he was literally just put in a really messed up situation where he had to kill his comrades or be eaten by them i think he ruled out the possibly of tying zeke up because zeke could just transform zekes also a trained warrior and is smarter than levi he could probably wiggle out of it somehow
