Junior was a true legend. Buddy is still a living legend. They played with most of the greatest blues musicians in history. Junior had a one of a kind presence. His vocals were for me almost to Muddy and Wolf's levels and his harp playing was among the very best. He was in the words of ZZ Top, a very sharp dressed man at all times. He was also a wonderful and kind man who loved his fans and everyone around him. I was so lucky to be able to see him many times at Theresa's, his home club. I lived 20 minutes away. The cover was $1. Those were among the very best nights of music in my entire life. Thank you Junior, Sammy Lawhorn, James Cotton, John Primer, who is another living legend, Phil Guy, and all of the incredible musicians of that eta. Junior and Cotton would sometimes play on Wednesdays, with each doing their own sets. The South side and entire city of Chicago was a magical place for music.
We may have crossed each others' paths. I too was a frequent visitor at Theresa's. I lived 5" North and always enjoyed seeing him on stage & in the audience. One name that sticks out the most is Muddy Waters Jr. I don't lnow if he was related, yet he pit on a very good show.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jr Wells back stage ,way back in 1990?at the purple onion in Toronto. What a awesome man to meet, he sang a song of native people.i will never forget that night back stage,or his concert .R.I.P Jr Wells
Look how Junior Wells laid out all the fire on stage instantly. His voice and harmonica hit my soul real hard. I wish the camera showed a bit of Buddy because man was he cookin! Greatest form of true music - blues.🙏

In the early 70's I had an album titled, "Chicago the Blues Today" including Junior Wells, JB Hutto and his Hawks and others. I think I got it from some record club in New Zealand. I doubt that they have record clubs anymore!
To all those talking bout "silly costumes " I guarantee they weren't costumes ,they off the street in em went back out the door in them ,do you make the same comments about others in the same time period like Elvis ,Bowie,Kiss,E John etc?
What was that "Thing" Buddy was wearing? I'm an idiot, Buddy played here in Sydney in early 2023 and I didn't go. Apparently in his 80's they said he won't be coming back. Dam!
Anyone Know Where this concert was? Use to be a clip/video available from this show of Them doing Messin with the Kid, Buddy's guitar work was amazing!
Pretty sure it’s Fred Below, the creator ofmuch of the rythmic structure of Chicago blues especially its backbeat. Played with Chuck Berry,Willie Dixon,Bo Diddley,Howlin.Wolf, Muddy Waters, the Myers Brothers and a lot more ! Such a cool cat !

So, when they say Buddy Guy's "hot", that coat explains it :^)
Isn't Buddy a bit warm under the studio lights in that get-up?
Chicago in mid-December? He wore that coat in right off the street! Studio was probably freezing as well.
He's too cool! That's why :-)
♥♥♥
Bend it yes
Buddy's brother Phil on 2nd guitar
Buddy dressed weird, I hardly recognized him. Looks like Sly Stone.
Standard Buddy Guy of that era.
Having seen my parents' closet as a kid growing up let me tell you that those aren't costumes... That is what you call the 1970's.

BLACK POWER!
ah, the 70s - everyone had to wear a silly costume on stage. the music is simply timeless though.
Adds to the fun! They make their own party.
Look down at the floor, no pedals.
