What broke my young heart in 1966 was watching Lara walk by while Doctor Zhivago lay dying on the sidewalk. What a tragedy. Romeo and Juliet personified.
Interestingly- owing to the book being banned in the USSR- a copy was smuggled out to friends of the family who had emigrated to Italy- they got it translated into Italian, and that was the first published and available for sale edition. Such a great movie, the romance part went mostly over my head although while Julie Christie was absurdly beautiful I remember thinking I would have liked Geraldine Chaplin. Mom died recently at 100. Think of her when I hear this - the beautiful happily married suburban housewife with a dweeby kid and maybe just a tiny crush on Omar Shariff.
One of the most evocative melodies of all time. Like My Heart Will Go On in Titanic, or Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany's, it really made the movie.

Sorry to hear about your loss 😢. 28 years ago when I broke up after a 5 year relationship, I found myself sitting in my house in Cheshire, UK seriously contemplating suicide. I was brought up RC and thought I knew all about God, but in my despair I called out to God to deliver me from despair and within a few days and through amazing ‘coincidences’, I was instantly delivered from despair and depression into deep joy. Just an encouragement for you; Jesus is real and this life is only temporary. Eternity, and where we spend it, is the most important. Shalom, 👍🙏😊
This is the perfect combination of director, actors and music director. Whenever I hear this, I can SEE the little joys of Dr. Zhivago in his twinkling eyes in his serene face; his efforts to have a last glimpse of his beloved; his emotional turmoil.Oh! So heart squeezing! Only Lean could do justice to the novel capturing the psyche of Boris Pasternak.
Saw the movie in theatre more than 6 times and finally owned dvd. Maurice jare is remembered all my life. Based on Nobel prize novel by Boris Pasternak

Filmed in the sweltering heat of Madrid with fake snow, music composed and performed in six weeks, it is filled with genius and beauty: genius of David Lean and Maurice Jarre and countless others and the beauty and brilliant acting of Julie and Omar. Funny how people like Spielberg, who learned an immense amount from Lean, is more celebrated as a director... It is also a marvel of editing - as Lean was a film editor before becoming a director.
It's my favorite movie.. I cannot watching without a box of tissues next to me. Oh to have someone love you like that!! I watch it every time it comes on TV.
Passionate love was expressed in tranquil performance... Desire was hot, but reality was harsh... Happiness of union was followed by sorrow of separation... Only the memory of unforgettable love remained...

@@loriqualls3100 I saw it once as as child. I remember Omar Sharif's resonating eyes.....Gonna watch this movie for the second time very soon.
Yes, super filming, beautiful actors, and wonderful music. Yes, me and My Darling wife had tears. Can we LOOK deeper into characters? Wifey asked me WHY he let his WIFE go away, and had affair, and let HER go away as well?? All for an idiotic love of Siberia and some borscht and potatoes?? He was idiot
That film conveyed a miserable time in a frozen wilderness....I felt like I was there right with them !!
Yes. we did it together as well. Another kind of bonding with girlfriend.
This is so beautiful. My mother plays this on the piano. It's suddenly dawned on me how much I'm going to miss it when she's gone...
I have loved this melody for years. Why can't we all live in PEACE!
Time and time again through years I have returned to this lovely peace of music, of film history.
What a great movie, and Lara's theme made it even better. I loved this movie and I love this music.
Beautiful people, beautiful storie, beautiful music.
Such a haunting melodious music. Listening from the last 30 years. Simply superb. 🎉
This song reminds me of my grandma who used to play this on piano. One of the most classical BGM of any movie. Thanks for uploading .
Thank you
i was staioned in germany when me and my wife the LOVE OF MY LIFE saw this movie .Eastman barracks Dachau . now she is gone from me oct 9 2020 .
It is a roller coaster journey through bereavement . Be gentle with yourself.
May she Rest in Peace. Even it must be Heart Breaking now. It must be wonderful and a real Blessing to find the Love of your Life
Sorry to hear about your loss 😢.

One of my all time favorite films. My mother took me to see it in the theater more than 50 years ago. I fell in love with the story and the beautiful wintery landscapes portrayed. This song has always enchanted me.
GREAT MOVIE, Superb ACTING AND ONE OF The GREATEST MUSICAL THEMES EVER CREATED!!!!
A theme full of beauty, sadness and heart rending reality.
One of the best movies ever made. Gorgeous music.
Qué hermoso tema para una película inolvidable, nunca dejaré de verla las veces q' sean necesario
Vielen Dank
I BECOME UNCONSCIOUS WHEN I LISTEN THIS TUNE, I CANT CONTROL MY TEARS OF EMOTION, I AM SURE, ANYONE WHO LISTEN THIS TUNE WILL REMEMBER HIS OR HER LOVEONE....
You are not alone!
The tears in my eyes are for my mom and dad as I see them flowing around the dance floor to any waltz.
Soft music that hurts me from the bottom of my heart dr zhivago was made in the 60s most of the actors may no longer be with us but they will live in our memories and for future generation to see
Two very talented actors.Beautiful music score and a great movie.
Film inoubliable , une merveille comme le cinéma savait le faire avant !
Without doubt... The most beautiful woman that has EVER graced Gods green earth......
It's my favorite movie.. I cannot watching without a box of tissues next to me. Oh to have someone love you like that!! I watch it every time it comes on TV.
ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️ SONGS 🎶🎶 EVER WRITTEN.
Passionate love was expressed in tranquil performance... Desire was hot, but reality was harsh... Happiness of union was followed by sorrow of separation... Only the memory of unforgettable love remained...
Beautifully put, thank you, you have said what I may think, but are un-able to express...
Heart breaking story
Wonderfully explained.
ROSA Pianist So beautifully said. I’m going to see if Amazon sells the DVD, I want to see it again. 😊❤️
To this day. And yet again for those so recently lost to us.
