What if the cord progression is a 1,4,5 instead of a 1,3,5 ? My reason for asking is that the majority of songs are a 1,4,5 progression. The major pentatonic does not have a 4 in it, but the minor pentatonic does ...... thanks 🙏
That’s a big question. If you’re looking to use one scale pattern over a I-IV-I you probably want to be using the major scale of the ‘one’ chord. That said, your ultimate aim when soloing over a progression is to highlight the notes found within each chord. Knowing the notes found in each chord is a great first step.
