    By the way, I did this upgrade and it works. It did not get a signal 2x or more better. Not a huge increase in signal detection but it did increase it enough to make the difference between a camera that would almost but not quite get a solid signal to one that now gets a solid signal. I have the cam in an external garage to watch my vehicle and garage interior. The signal has to go about 100' and through 5 walls. Adding an external antenna gave it just enough boost to get a signal, but if I move the camera another 15 feet I then start to lose the signal again. So I think it increased my range by about 20' and one wall. Not sure how much range it would give in a straight unobstructed line of site or through fewer walls. But well worth the upgrade if you have a week signal or can barely connect, should fix your issue.

    Just did this myself. If you put the antenna on the side, you can keep the speaker. It’s a tight fit, but I went from 1 bar to 3 bars signal. Thanks for your tear-down and guide!

    Going to try this over the weekend but, with an outdated wireless router antenna. Thanks Tim!

    Thanks Tim for helping others finding a better way to widen the security range around our houses. To me, it was a very simple straight forward process.

    Good information. But very crude on performance. PS. Let that hot glue set up and assembly would have been easer.

    How much further did it increase the range of the camera? Great video shows how tough the little camera is built.

    The ONLY good thing about my Wyze cams is the Wi-Fi. Even works in the garage, on the COLDEST Canadian winter day/night, which is not close to where my router is.. Even my original sensors connected (until they all died one-by-one). The last one died sometime (I don't know when) without any warning (IT'S SUPER CLOSE TO THE ROUTER! 😡).
    Because of the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, it cannot be reconnected even I put a new battery in there. So, u being a smart guy, know of anything I can use these sensors for? I got a ton of them. Cannot use them anymore. They can NEVER be reconnected to the bridge. 😡😭

    • @TimMort
      @TimMort  Рік тому

      I don’t know, I have these dang things die all the time. Buy a new one and take the broken one back.. lol.

      @@TimMort Got mine when visiting California. I live in Canada. They had finally come to Canada via Amazon just before my vacation. I waited for years. I was excited to see them in Amazon Canada and UNTIL I saw the price 😳😱. I was going to Cali in 2 weeks so waited till I got there and went straight to Home Depot there to buy it at a great price.
      They dropped support of the v1 sensors and wanted ppl to buy the V2 instead.

    Nice video. There always has to be that one guy who’s so serious. I don’t know a lot bout the cameras but is that the V3? Would the process be the same for the V2 and outdoor?

    • @TimMort
      @TimMort  3 роки тому +2

      This is the v2, I’ll have to pick up a v3 and see if it’s the same. I’ll see if they have them at Home Depot tomorrow, if they do I’ll make a video.

    Does anyone know if this will work on Wyze V3 camera? May require some silicone around the antenna. I may take it apart to see if it is like the V2. Need a V3 about 125 ft from Wifi.

    • @TimMort
      @TimMort  3 роки тому +1

      Not sure, I don’t have a V3. As soon as I get ahold of one I’ll crack it open and see what can be done

      @@TimMort Thanks, the V2 antenna was able to reach about 90 feet to my wifi, great (DIY) enchancement. Also, it keeps the HD setting. My 3 - V3 are outside and closer, two require setting to SD and 360 to work correctly. The V3 will be a stretch hopefully it will work.
