    *I have had the **Newest.Technology** system since they were initially released (over 2 years). I love the ease of use and they work well. Batteries last a long time too. I have added cameras as needed. I love the 2 way communication with this one.*

    Thanks for mentioning to make sure not to push the white hole covers into the hole. Kinda crucial but okay. For anyone stuck on that, use a paperclip and pry really hard to get them out

    I replaced mine with a fisheye lens...the issue was the fisheye was too big to fit through the existing hole, and there's a PCB there, so you can really make it bigger. The surprisingly easy (albeit destructive solution) is to clip off all the plastic screw guide pegs so I could move the secondary board (the one with the hole) close enough to the sensor that I could screw the fisheye from the outside. Once done, I just connected all the leads back up, pushed all the innards back in the case and a little silicone around the lens (once focused) and around the outside bezel thing to get it water tight again. The way the innards SNAP into place, the screws are not really needed.
    Works great and I have a super wide FOV now.

    Thank you. I was able to swap the lens with a 6mm lens. Warning: remember to remove the SD card. I watched the video a week or so ago and forgot that step. Fortunately I only damaged the card and not the camera.

      @@matrox nope, he's awake. It's funny how the term woke started, as in basically not believing the fake news and being aware of the lies that the gov puts forward and the idiot sjw libtards pretty much bastardized being "awake" and started using "woke" and they're pretty much opposite ends of the spectrum and no one uses awake anymore. Makes you wonder if maybe it was done on purpose to kind of squash the rebellion.

    Excellent video. I've upgraded the lens on several v.2 cams, but have yet to do a v.3 model. So far, I've installed 8 mm, 16 mm, and 25 mm lenses. Love the telephoto aspect of the 16 and 25 mm lenses, but focusing is touchy. Now to do a v.3 :)

  • @brian163utube
    @brian163utube 2 роки тому +3

    Thanks for the video, I do appreciate the insight overall. However, I'm confused, at 5:31 you go through the effort to remove the lens mount from the upper PCB board (and exposing the CMOS/sensor in the process) but to remove the lens you just pulled it out? Is the lens glued into the hole in the lower board or not? If it isn't couldn't you just pull and lightly twist (wiggle) the whole board until the lens comes out of the hole? I cringe at thought of people exposing their CMOS sensor like that. (And always use an air bulb/squeezy like a Rocket Air to blow off exposed components, never rub!!!)

    • @DalsVzla
      @DalsVzla  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks I really appreciate your feedback. Nothing bad exposing the CMOS but that’s a choice… I’ve had that discussion with some friends and there are mix feelings lol. Never had an issue doing it with specially with a $30 camera. Lol. Regarding pulling out the lens, it isn’t glued to the lower board and only to it base, and yes you can just pull and lightly twist it without un mounting from the board however, it is much more easy to grasp and twist the way I do, otherwise you could break the board, Again, nothing wrong exposing these cheap sensors but that is just my opinion. Thanks again. Regards.

    I wish my old hands and eyes could still do that. Slightly different subject, but related to your video, Do you know if there are any metering sensors in the area around the lense, or is all of the light metering done TTL? I am going to paint one and don't need the Night Vision or IR. I am not willing to take it apart before I paint it to discover it.

    Maybe the best tech video of this type I've seen, and I do watch and use a fair amount of them to do the process/procedures. The only thing I would like to have seen is a shot of the app when focusing the camera, but it's easy to imagine without; and, of course replacing the micro sd is personal choice :-)

    Thanks for the video! I tried replacing the stock lens with a 2.8-12mm lens an Amazon review said fit, and it did not fit. The mounting screw is the same size but there's no way to add the bigger lens since the diameter is larger than the hole in the plastic and PCB. But following this video I was able to take apart and put it back together just fine.

      @@DalsVzla Sure fire way to kill a v3 is let it get very wet. The one of three v3s I had that got soaked when a gutter overflowed had a foggy/blurry lens failure within 24 hours. See all the posts about foggy/blurry images and returned cams on the WYZE forums. If it happens after the one year warranty, the cam is instant garbage or you will have to install a new lens per this video. My advice, always hang a v3 under some kind of cover like a a roof eve/soffit Also protects the lens from direct sun which a number of users have suggested will degrade the lens just like water getting in there after a year or so of exposure.

      Hi @SilicaSkynet it works, however, it was pretty tricky for camera read the QR code after around 2 minutes trying lol. I suppose it was because of the new distance and FOV. I would suggest people do not reset camera after lens changing. Other solution is to reinstall the old lens, reset the camera and then return back to the new lens installation. • @DalsVzla

      You could, however, it will be more easy removing the whole piece to unscrew the lense because it is glued from factory.

  • @steemium
    @steemium 2 роки тому +1

    There's no need to expose the sensor to unscrew the lens, I don't need to switch lens right now but If ever I was to give it a go, I'd start by twisting the lens straight from the front, even if it mean destroying the glass in front.
    Actually I might epoxy the lens onto something a way to grip it. Don't waste 40min to reduce risk of breaking a 30$ camera.

      For less than you could pay someone, just do what I did. I needed to refocus my lens for a close-up bird cam. I bought a spare to work with in case I messed it up. It really was not that difficult or delicate, and the refocus went perfectly. You won't get anyone to crack open yours for less than the cost of a second "just in case" camera. You can do this!!
