Great video. Good to see someone on UA-cam with actual technical knowledge and understanding.
Wtf do you know about a Q fix ??? You prob can’t even afford one ☝️
Thanks! Appreciate you watching!

Shot my Mini-Fix SBR today for the first time after picking it up on Friday. Amazingly accurate, even more so with my hand loads. Even though I’m getting a free Thunderchicken through the promo, I’m gonna take your advice (we talked on the phone last week) and pick up the CGS Hyperion. By far, my favorite channel for all things that go bang on YT. Thank you ! Hey guys, support this great channel…
What a beautiful and functional setup! Love all the choices you made on this rig!
I really liked the weight and general feel of the Fix, but couldn't get past the gritty- almost sandy- feel to the bolt throw and operation of the action. For a couple of grand I have a bit higher expectation of refinement, so I took a pass on it. I'll be building my own bolt gun in 8.6 instead so I have no one to blame but my own shoddy skillset.
I have two of them. The grittiness goes away after a couple hundred rounds and then they are silky smooth
Awesome video brother! Maybe one day I can get my hands on one of these.
Appreciate you watching man!
Nice Review Brother, I’m definitely interested in 8.6.
I went with the Plan B on my Harvester Big Bore can for my 8.6 Fix and it works well. The round is very impressive for quietness and freight train power delivery.
Im in love with this gun man. Mine is in 6.5 but im ordering an 8.6 barrel and a porq chop by the end of summer, cant wait to start slinging 8.6 down range.
Coll thing about the Fix easy to change the caliber! Thanks for watching man!
Excellent video. Made me want one.
Appreciate you watching man!
You guys are the reason I'm swapping the barrel on my cross to a 8in 8.6. Hoping to take a deer this fall with it
They make 8.6 barrels for the sig cross? If so, I'm buying one.
@@rustyking2728 they require some custom work because sig has proprietary threads
@@rustyking2728sigs barrel extension has proprietary threads so it requires some custom work
How about the handguard. Does anybody make a short version for an 8" barrel?

This is great and all, but... We need more guns in 8.6!
Oh there are more coming, many more, more affordable ones, more expensive ones, seems like everyone is jumping on the 8.6 band wagon. Thank for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenalJumped on the bandwagon because of your videos. Building a bolt action on the Woox chassis like yours(needed an excuse to buy that chassis and you gave it to me). Also building a lightweight Ar10. The DTF is sitting in jail right now and the Hekate is backordered! I love your video, but my wallet hates you! Lol
Expensive video indeed. $3200 rifle, $1000 silencer, $4-6 a cartridge, and I didn't even pay attention to the scope.
Free supressor with rifle right now.
@@davelpz3340and ammo is more like $2 a round.
Ya get a free silencer if you buy it right now... pretty sweet deal.

Gorilla ammo looks like $2.50-$3 a round
Great video. I love my 8.6 Fix. I’ve been having difficulty getting ballistic information on the ammo out there today. Were you able to get ballistic information for your calculator on the bullet to get started?
My 8”Fix in 8.6 is arriving at my FFL on Friday. Very excited. Shout out to KB in the chat! 😂
😘
I have a Q fix 8 inch pistol with a brace, and a short chop silencer. It’s so much fun to shoot, and I am sure will be fun to hunt with. It would be nice if Some bullet manufactures would take this caliber on. My personal hand loads shoot the best out of the rifle. There is just less standard deviation in the velocity. I will have to try the Callaway Bullets out.
Awesome review, I’ve been a fan of the fix for a long time just haven’t been ready to pay the price. Maybe I will for that 6arc rifle they recently put out though. That has my attention more than any other round right now
Yeah the fix would be amazing in 6ARC or 22 ARC for that matter. Tempted to get a barrel for my mini fix in one of those calibers. Thanks for watching!
You should check out the ATL Opp Shop CD-5 or CD-10 straight pull bolt AR upper. Would be an interesting comparison between them and the Q Fix.
And see if you can get it in .375 Raptor, now THAT is a great comparison between both the rifles and calibers.
Since you brought up 9x39 and you have shot the krebs 9x39 (and well past its typical ranges), how would you compare the two cartridges? Both are prohibitively expensive for most non reloaders, but come in the high 200's in grain weight, with hard cast hitting the low 300's grs with the 9x39.
Are you gaining anything with the slimmer bullet diameter and the longer case length?
That's a great question, first thing, that I didn't understand when I made the Krebs video is 9x39 isn't standardized. Basically the Tula and the Wolf loadings are different dimensionally and that leads to some problems. That being said I do feel that the 8.6 /338 does give you some serious advantages in the projectile department, whereas you are somewhat limited in 9mm/ 36 caliber rifle projectiles. I think currently, 8.6 has some significant advantages. That being said I would love to see 9x39 become standardized and see more loadings and components available. If everything were equal they would be very comparable, but currently they aren't. It would take some interest in the industry to get 9x39 on the right track in the USA and I'm not Sure that exists currently. It would be cool though, maybe someday. Thanks for watching!
I love different types of rifles that use common parts... and I have an Ar10 and a scout bolt action that both use the same sr25/ar10 style.
What barrel length did you get on your Fix? I'm guessing 12 inches?
You would be correct sir! Thanks for watching!
Can you imagine the sound of it with an SD style barrel? I built the AR now to save money to build a bolt action.
I'd love to have your specific load data. Obviously I work them up cautiously. I have the same setup, but my SD'S are higher than I'd like. Thanks.
I’m saving up to get one next month to take advantage of the free can extension from Q. Should I get the 8 inch or 12 inch? My main use is obviously subsonic but was wondering if you Alabama Arsenal see any purpose with 8.6 supers?
To be honest, I currently see no to little value in 8.6 supers, however I reserve the right to change my mind. If you saw our video on 8.6 barrel length there's very little difference between a 12" and an 8" so you may just want to go 8", but if you did ever want to shoot supers 12" should give you a little more velocity making it more versatile. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal awesome thank you for the response I think it’s official going with the 8 inch keep the vids coming man!
1:00 Wow! Someone with the good sense to put a stop at the end of their shooting bench so they have something to push into. *slow clap*
Great review!
Appreciate you watching!
Very, very nice. I'm too poor for most of this. But its great to watch. Subscribed, dazzle me! 😂
I think my next build will be an 8.6 Blk. Any experience with this and an Alaskan 360?
Never shot an Alaskan 360 but we have another video about 8.6 Silencers and we tested a bunch, may be insightful. Thanks for watching!
Bullet Spin Drift? I have been hearing 1.5-2" per 100 meters.
It is a thing for sure and can be greatly amplified by wind blowing with the spin drift. However I would say it’s not as severe as most people are claiming given ideal conditions. Thanks for watching!
Have you shot any of Black Collar firearms guns?
I heard from someone in the industry (can't say who, friends and don't want to burn them, but he provides firearms to some youtubers.) that the 8.6 is having issues with jacket separation inside the cans due to the rpms the round is experiencing due to the 1:3 twist, and it's causing damage to the inside of 338 cans. As much as you shoot 8.6, have you seen this happen?
If you use the wrong projectiles.
@Lerorydagoat12 Sure I could see that. But aren't there only a couple different manufacturers who make 8.6?
@@BlackRifleBear that’s somewhat true but there are multiple companies making 8.6 dedicated projectiles. I’ve got a 8.6 Fix and never had one issue with bullets doing weird stuff.
Yeah what Leroy said is correct. Careful projectile selection and you shouldn’t have any issues. I keep it pretty simple with trusted projectiles and I’ve never had a problem. Thanks for watching!
😂
Paladin 8.6 vs qfix if you could only have 1. Not sure if I want bolt or semi truthfully
While the Paladin is an amazing 8.6 semi, I’d take this because I think that 8.6 is better in a bolt action than a semi. There’s significant port pop with 8.6 due to the powders needed to cycle an AR10. So to really enjoy how quiet 8.6 can be you need a bolt action. Thanks for watching!
Great video
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching!

Have they corrected the light strike on primer problem?
I’ve actually never experienced that but I’ve heard plenty about that. All I can say is I’ve never seen that, but I also rarely ever shoot anything with military style primers. Thanks for watching!
Have you guys tried a SilencerCo Omega 36M with 8.6 yet? I'm between that and a DTF-STi for my Fix.
The DTF will crush it. Check out our video on 8.6 Silencers. The 9mm cans do OK but no where near as good as the true to bore silencers like the DTF. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal I've watched it a couple of times and it's what peaked my interest in the DTF.
I thought the Omega 36M was a rifle caliber can that could handle 9mm. I know Pew Science hasn't tested the O36M yet.
Basically trying to find that unicorn of length, weight and suppression ability for Elk season this year.
I'm really hoping to have the opportunity to take one with 8.6 this year!
All well and good but I'll get the Sig cross with everything the fix has but $1000 cheaper. And with a better bolt throw
I'm a huge fan of the Cross, I think it would be phenomenal if Sig offered it in 8.6, they'd sell a ton of them. Thanks for watching!

You lost my attention when you said “most bolt action rifles are based on the Remington 700.” There is an apparently obscure rifle called the Mauser 98 and more than a few rifles follow that pattern, including the 1903 Springfield and the Winchester Model 70.
Also it would be helpful to address the failure to get SAAMI approval for the 8.6 Blackout at the start of this year. I have read accounts claiming that Hornady derailed that effort because they favored a 1:5 twist rate instead of 1:3. Is that accurate? Are there downsides to the 1:3 twist rate? Specifically for supersonic rounds…
Last but not least: a Faxon button rifled barrel on a $3,300 rifle? Seriously?
Well Chip, if you had an attention span slightly longer than a field mouse you would have heard that very shortly after I spoke about the REM 700 I did indeed link that back to the Mauser 98 and had footage of my own K98 in the video.
1:3 does pose challenges, but this round is proving to be wildly successful without approval.
I can say with relative certainty after shooting Faxon barreled 8.6 builds and the Fix, that the barrel in this gun is not made by Faxon. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal I did comment before you mentioned the Mauser 98. The Fix 8.6 Barrels are made by Faxon (based on a source inside Q). Some early ones were made by Kreiger but there was some conflict and Kreiger will not make barrels for Q anymore.
SAAMI approval would be very helpful in terms of getting affordable brass and published load data, if nothing else.
@@chipsterb4946Kreiger had never made barrels for us. We’ve never worked with them. I do like their barrel though.
8.6 Blk didn’t fail SAAMI. Hornady submitted and pulled it the week before approval. They decide to do 8.6 ARC, their own cartridge.
Q should give you one
Definitely wouldn't turn one down, but not going to hold my breath lol. Thanks for watching!
Would a 16 inch 8.6 be worth it for hunting? Would just need a new barrel for current fix.
16” turn that Barnes 210 into nasty pills on target
I have personal experience with the Hekate on the 8.6 fix being wildly inaccurate. I am not sure why it is..but it was.. however with other cans it was better. The Hekate was very quiet but difficult to get on paper after 100 yards.
People should use our can and stick with the system. We developed the gun, silencer, and cartridge.
@@kevinbrittingham6774 I agree 100% after seeing what I saw. Thanks for creating such a bad ass cartridge and the gambit of kickA$$ firearms yall have. Looking forward to owning my own soon.
Can it take the Beta-C Mag double drum? If yes I’m buying one.
I believe it would. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal Awesome! Ruger has a 300 blk bolt gun that easily takes the 5.56 Beta mag and it’s hilarious to gross out the fudds at the range. I’m trying to see if they can cause themselves permanent ocular injury from rolling their eyes.
Great, now make it affordable for 97% of people. Thanks but at this cost it's no wonder why people still use the rem700 action.

I wanna see 8.6 vs 338 razorback/specter
Those are very intriguing rounds for me as well. However, they definitely don’t see the widespread industry support that 8.6 is currently getting. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal Yeah the wildcat nature of them is defiantly a hinderance. If the goal is to shoot a 338 at subsonic speeds it makes more sense to me, being able to use a smaller action. I am hoping with all the development from Q on the 8.6, someone will roll the dice and submit one for SAAMI.

A friend of mine bought a Q Fix and it has never worked. Sent it back to Q and they said the hammer strike is too light because of their firing pin being too light. They have had the gun for months with no fix for it. I built mine with an 80% LR308 lower and a 12" barrel that I put in a .308 Bear Creek Arsenal upper. Works flawlessly on 12 grains 1680 with 300 grain .338 Lapua. I also had a fraction of the price of a Q FIX.
That’s just not true. The gun doesn’t even have a hammer.
@@kevinbrittingham6774 I simply phrased it wrong. I meant it doesn't fire because of too light a firing pin strike. I wouldn't buy one of their guns simply because of their complete lack of service to my friend. I'm also not a fan of bolt guns either because of the complexity of the firing mechanism. The simplicity of the AR platform has me spoiled. Cheers.
