Here's two things I love about this video besides the brilliant technique & tips.
    - the fact that you share failed attempts
    - the hint of a smile on your face when you hit the technique. Stuff like that is so satisfying 😁

Except sanshou, which is unfortunately so unpopular that the fighters won't be as great by pure population disadvantage, but I've just recently learned their sweeps from kick catches are way more diversified because unlike muay thai they don't forbid any sort of trips or throws. Actually sanshou is basically MMA without ground fighting

I first learned this from watching you do this a couple years ago and it quickly became my fave sweep!! I love the lowkick game, that’s my shit. I eat people’s legs UP with my lowkicks, get them to fear the lowkicks and when they start checking them, I throw them a curveball and rush in and hit EM wit this sweep while they’re standing on one leg thinking they’re checking the lowkick!!! 😁👌🏼🤙🏼😜🙏🏼💙 It also works great 👍🏼 when I lowkick high, above the knee, when I’m closer to my opponent and then I can feint the rear lowkick and when they go to check it I just set my rear leg down behind them instead of continuing with the kick. After I have my foot behind them and they’re on one ☝🏼 leg checking, it’s easy to complete this sweep! Thank you 🙏🏼 so much Jeff, because idk if I would’ve ever learned this sweep if it wasn’t for you, your teaching of the technique and your channel. YOU ARE THE MAN JEFF CHAN!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I Hope one ☝🏼 day I get the opportunity to train with you in person. I’d love to go on one of your training vacays, but I’m just a poor single father, struggling martial artist. One ☝🏼 day I believe I’ll be on another level though and I’ll meet you at the top brother!! OSS!!! 🙏🏼🤙🏼💙💯

I learned this technique from you a while back and generally it always works because most of the fighters that I have sparred with don't necessarily study additional techniques and movement so its pretty easy to fake and execute the move. One of the first things I learned when I started fighting was that it was more so about techniques that you could study like this before you even throw a punch. I still spend countless hours just studying video because I'm more of a visual learner when it comes to fighting. Even when I watch UFC fights a lot of fighters are not as versatile as they should be so I imagine this attack would get a lot of people there too then follow up with a BJJ attack.

I like setting it up with right punches. I'll throw a straight, but more often a hook with the right to start getting my oppenent to shell up. Might even threaton to go in for clinch. Once i can predict the response to it and they shell up nice i shimmy and and lower down a little under the guard and bring my right hip and thigh around and through to go for the sweep.

Beatiful video as always! I have this question, as I know nothing about mma and very few from grappling. I see that in many cases, when you use this sweep the adversary can grapple you somewhat around the neck, leaving you (I suppouse) expose to a rear choke in mma. But in other cases in looks like something like a one handed suplex over your knee. Is it possible to land something like that? Just curious!

I use a very similar hip sweep to catch opponents coming in. I am southpaw and I find it works best on orthodox opponents, so orthodox fighters can use it against southpaws. When they come in with momentum attempting a high kick, I step forward to meet them halfway and plant my lead foot right behind their lead foot and take their body’s impact with my hip before they fully throw the kick. You might get a bruised hip, but they take the same damage and bounce off too the ground

In essence, is it like a strongly committed leg kick but with the thigh and hips? I really like your double leg comparison you've drawn with this throw. I've seen a writer call this the Wedge Throw but I like Hip Bump. Semantics.
When you walk laterally to turn your guy into your throw, that is beat for beat exactly what Jorge Masvidal did to end Ben Askren's career.
