I think its about time they bring spears and tridents out from depths. And let us make use of them as land weapons! Everyclass could make awesome use of tridents and spears on land!
That's cause even the devs realize what a bad joke the shortbow for engie is. Most negative feedback received for a new weapon and they still don't care.

Also, it would be nice to see the ability to use spears out of the water with spear fighting styles and for that matter, the trident as well
Because the class doesn't have much use for even another projectile based ranged weapon compared to what we have. Also the Mesmer Rifle is heavily Heal Support oriented. If you think you get big crits and big sniper action there, you might get surprised on launch.

Definitly off-hand would be better choice. But still it is not main problem with thief axe. The problem is that weapon is boring, non-orginal, it's working only on one or two builds, duel skills are almose the same ...

I gotta ask, does shortbow for engie do good damage? Can i use it outside of support? Cuz the shortbow has some major potential to be some type of detonation weapon like that one skill for harpoon gun. Hopefully this change for engie can also be good for combat cuz rifle rn as a ranged option is kinda inconsistent
looks like ele pistol is still scepter 2, with no ranged condi offhand around. well lets hope its at least a less buggy version of it, scepter has too many targeting problems with big meta targets
Wish they added new weapon types. For thief I would like a fist weapon. Warrior or Guardian I would give them a Glaive. Rangers I would like to see them use a Boomerang ,or just give them a Rifle, or a crossbow. For mage users i guess maybe a magic orb that channels magic, like shooting a beam or something. Anyways I would like to see new weapons.
if they are going to add new weapon types, than it would be something all classes can use. Also what skins don't already cover. Boomerang is actually the FIRST weapon suggestion I have heard that would be unique. Although Ranger already does that sort of thing with axes.
I dont know how you can get away with giving engi a weapon with 4 abilities that have the same visual Shortbow had so much potential firing detonating rocket arrows and charged electric shots and you went with that💀 very disappointing to say the least
Indeed, worse when engi can't weaponswap. Mace and shield already does anything you want the sb to do, the only reason you would want to use sb it's if your weaponset is on cd but engi can't have that luxury lmao.
Same way they got away with Necromancer getting a whole set of entirely identical skills on a bugged-out spec that fails to meaningfully compete with it's own predecessor.
I checked the changes in their blog. It isn't bad but... It's kinda disappointing that it isn't really good outside of support. Hopefully in the coming updates this change and it becomes something bettrr

I think they will have new weapons eventually. I mean they've already added so much "new" weapon functionality, what else can they do? For example, a few that come to mind: Polearm (Weaponsmith) Crossbow (Huntsman) Wand (Artificer) I still feel they missed a great opportunity for land spear in PoF.
I'm a necro main and in the beta I really enjoyed the ideas and playability of necro swords, very fast paced with a lot of mobility. I'm not a build maker, but it got me hopefull someone comes up with a harbringer build with swords and pistol to create a very fast paced necro with a good cost/reward ballance. I also really enjoyed the concept of warrior staff (a class I was never drawn to) and shortbow engeneer. I'm glad they are tweaking those things case I feel they can bring very fun and fresh playstyles if balanced correctly.
That's because the full trailer doesn't represent how it will be working in the end. The aoes go off automatically now rather than what was previous shown.
"Ranger" is the term for someone who lives in/near and protects forests. This is the concept they leaned into for GW2, not the ranged martial master of gw1

I feel it is because A.Net knew the Shortbow was uninspired and the community noticed, but didn't want to actually admit that they created garbage and needed to completely redesign it, so they touched it up slightly and hoped no one would notice. That is the impression I got reading the new preview notes.
Make dual wield weapons auto-attack with both the Main Hand and Off-hand if it makes sense i.e. Dagger/Sword, the sword should be able to be used in the auto-attack rotation. Instead the characters only using their right hand looks wrong both thematically and visually.
Man that’s it after 4 maybe 5 plus years of being out of the gw2 scene since path of fire. I’m finally returning this has me so hype I done had a bowl movement!! 😂😂

You'll either run the new weapons because they're busted or you'll ignore them. There aren't any new play styles because there aren't any real drawbacks which offset any potential benefits within that paradigm. Engineer shortbow is best played like DH trap stacking btw lmao

Necromancer dual sword hit like a declawed kitten swinging pool noodles, and was like watching a slow motion train wreck. I hope they fixed that because it was just bad, and I really wanted to like it.
For me i feel like gw1 will always be better in terms of abilities and spells, I prefer to have double profession and over 300 skills to make a build rather than having the same abilities of the same weapon over and over
@@DemethVLK unbalanced? I mostly played pve and it was amazing, i was a teenager so i didnt do pvp at all, i was focused on end content like FoWSC, DOA, UWSC etc and it was fun
He's talking nonsense. The deckbuilding nature of GW1 combat makes it more balanced than the fixed skills GW2 has, because if something didn't work in GW1, you would just change things up. If a build was seemingly broken, finding a counter build wasn't hard. But if you are stuck with either a weak or OP class in GW2, you are just stuck with it.@@mooncalf_69
Just replaying all the trailers makes me think you didn't change anything after the beta, because some of these weapons needed some serious reworking.
Engi bow got some major hate in the beta. Thought they might completely scrap it, but I'm still seeing the same skill effects.

The single main hand makes sense, they have to make skills for all the dual skills. That's probably why ele doesn't have dual pistols either.

Whole 4 seconds for engineer shortbow, a 1 second longer than the time ANet decided to commit to design it.
I hope Dual Swords works super-well with the Reaper Elite Spec, or the Akimbo Pistols working SUPER well with Dragonhunter
