You know what strikes me most about this interview? How real and natural it is. It's nice to see her at 23 so present, focused, and at ease; having a linear back-and-forth, undistracted. It's grounded. Organic. There's eye contact, and continuity of thought. Why is this such the opposite of young people, today?

Bry They wore her down physically and mentally. She would’ve lived much longer and been more coherent had she not abused drugs the way she did.
Okay but she had pretty intense mental illness like bipolar, which she then tried to self medicate with hard drugs. It wasn't some conscious decision of "wow drugs are fun let's do drugs" it was "my brain is constantly trying to destroy me, these drugs seem to somehow make my brain shut the fuck up for a bit" but as with all drug abuse and addiction it ends up fucking your whole life. Addiction is something you often have to live with for the rest of your life, it's a disease, a mental illness. It wasn't simply a choice she made. Don't boil it down to "oh she was attractive, too bad she abused drugs". It's much more complex than that.
AMBROSITY2 saying she had a ‘mental illness’ is just sugar coating the fact that she abuses drugs. Cocaine and md are only party drugs but when you’re taking herion with it at the same time at that age, she was abusing. Plenty of opportunity to stop
This lighter hair colour suited her much better than the dark brown in Star Wars.

It does take away also your need to sleep and rest, so who takes it feels high energy and ready to conquer the world for hours, even days if takes some extra cocaine every 2-4 hours. Unfortunately after the effect ends the person can feel completely destroyed for hours or days, with a full array of simptoms ranging from nausea and vomit to muscular pain, along with a good other bunch. Even the little use modifies the way your neurons connect with each other, so you need more cocaine to archive the same effect, and this will lead you to overdose. Also you can be killed by hyperthermia, or have a cardoivascular collapse because you will not fell the thirst. The worst thing is that your neuronal connection will never be the same after cocaine, and your life will be ruined even if you in some way stop taking it. But yes, it does take away hunger.

I would have battled Darth Vader with a wooden spoon when I was 11 for this girls honor.
The drugs and alcohol changed her so much physiologically afterwards she became almost unrecognizable later in her life. The last time she looked as healthy as this, that I remember was as Meg Ryan’s best friend in When Harry Met Sally. And it seems it was drugs again that helped finally finish her off, despite giving the impression that she’d been clean for years. So sad, addiction is such a horrible disease. I was so sad to hear of her passing. Such a great intellect and soul...RIP Carrie. Too soon...

Those gorgeous looks are from her legendary mom's side Debbie Reynolds without a doubt. Not every Hollywood child hits the skids growing up in a famous household of Debbie & Eddie but somehow lost her way into hard drink and hard drugs. Cautionary tale - for every Drew Barrymore and Robert Downey Jnr that can come out the other side of hard drug use, there's a Carrie Fisher that just cannot. Wasted amazing beauty. Thank God we still have early clips of her in the prime years of such beauty.
